- Here we upgrade the brakes on my 4Runner to the 13WL’s, but I do a little comparison between the two to see if the Tundra upgrade is all what it’s hyped up to be.

Another thing to keep in mind is that some 3rd gens came with 15 inch wheels. To do the Tundra brake upgrade (even for the 199mm S13WE calipers), you need to move to 16 inch wheels.
I THINK it also has to be the correct type of 16 inch wheel too, but that might only be for the 231mm. The 199mm may fit on all 16 inch 3rd 4runner wheels, though definitely research that first.
Definitely a great mod to do. Saved my ass from rear ending a car on the highway when a car in front of me slammed on their brakes at 70mph.
At the moment just trying to maintain my new to me 3rd gen. Thank you!
You can also warp the tundra rotors by over tightening the lug nuts, 82 ft lbs is the correct torque.
rudycorraudio I didn’t know that. Thank you. I’m not sure what they’re torqued down to now, but it’s been fine for a good while now.
If you get a t100 master cylinder, you fix the soft pedal issue that 3rd gen 4runners tends to get when you bolt tundra calipers on.
What year for that T100 master cylinder?
I have a 02 4Runner and I want to know where did you get those projector headlights? They look nice
Blake Ferrell they’re SRQ custom headlights. Hop on their site, and it shows you what they make. Also, you can make them yourself for a lot less than what they charge. I got these used from someone
Nice video, I've been looking into getting a 3rd gen 4runner and your videos are definitely convincing me to go for it lol
Jram7 do it. I’ve owned 3 now, and they’re the best cars I’ve ever had out of 15. I did have the one 2000 4Runner give me some issues, but both my 99’s have been rock solid. Being 20 years old they do have their set of issues. They aren’t perfect. But for the age, and price they’re pretty awesome cars.
Hey man, pulling could be due too worn out joints/bushings. Possibly check all LCA and UCA ball joints and bushings for movement with the wheel off the ground or pry bar. Nice 4runner though!!
fightfest thanks! And the lower ball joints are worn. Those are being replaced ASAP. So far since the swap they’ve been fine.
The 231mm works best on 01-02 because of the larger booster.
Chase Baker yeah, I can’t say I absolutely love these, but I haven’t had any warping issues which was half the reason I did this. The 199’s would have been fine.
I did this on mine and i had some problems. Power stop pads are totally shit, they had no friction what so ever. And one of the braided lines I had broke so i had one stock line and one braided line.
4Runner4life98 I think when it’s time to do brakes again, I’ll get different pads. They make an odd noise when stopping, and like you said seem to have very little stopping power
Sick 3rd gen! What size wheels and tires??
305/75/16 on 16x12 wheels with a -44 offset
Dude put your bumper on! It'll look even more badass.
Quintin Heistermann soon haha I just haven’t had the time
@@ztpgarage5352 No problem. Keep the videos coming. I always watch them!
Borla ProXs muffler. Do it!
Real nice video
I feel like you're the guy that I traded my sport good for your hood for... didnt you travel up to Cecil county to trade hoods? That 4runner looks so familiar... correct me if I'm wrong
Alex Miller oh no, it’s me haha I drove up from Charles town Wv to get your hood lol
I also reccomend the flowmaster super ten on startup it scared the shit out of me one day lol
Where did you get your headlights from??
JAHBONCE they’re SRQ but you can build them a lot cheaper yourself.
Hey bro quick question. Im planning on doing the upgrade. What size calibers to I need Im running 285/70/17 to be exact
Since your tires are on a 17 inch wheel you should be able to run the 231 calipers without spacers.
@@ztpgarage5352 sounds good man! As far as the disk. Some oem tundra disks should be good right?
@@JosephJoJoFlores all of this stuff came from autozone, and it’s been alright. You should be fine with just about anything you get. I would order it online though. If I were to do it again I wouldn’t go through autozone, but I’m still running everything I put on till this day
Where did you buy your rims I want there for my 2nd gen 4runner 1995
Carlos R they’re black rock wheels
Tire type and tire size is also a factor in stopping distance. Just saying.
In the video, you said the 5 star rims will fit the 231mm tundra brake upgrade, then went on to say that 16 inch rims don’t work for the upgrade, which is it?
YotaJake you’re correct. I meant to say 15 for the 3 spoke wheels. I always forget that the wheels on my 4Runner are only 15’s. I swear all the time they’re 16’s.
ZTPGarage - So the 5 star, 16 inch rims would be able to fit the 13WL 231mm big brake calipers?
ZTPGarage - So the 5 star, 16 inch rims would be able to fit the 13WL 231mm big brake calipers?
YotaJake yes, the 5 star wheels will fit the 231mm brakes with no spacer
ZTPGarage - Nice.
An average step being 3 meters??? That's more than 9 feet!
Jack Tran did I say that? If so I meant to say 3 feet or one meter. I’m pretty sure I said 3 feet though.
