I've had zero luck with bimetal jacket, soft points & hollow points expanding. None of them tumble either. All boat tails. The flat based FMJs in US ammo tumbles. I just load 123gr Speer soft points now.
I’m just curious why you don’t go back to the 45acp out of the side by side. From what I remember of your testing with it you said it was good but lost energy quickly past 50-75 yards. If it were me, id save the rifle ammo for on foot and use a decent energy pistol bullet in the buggy at the 10-20 yards you describe in the video. Maybe worth revisiting
Do the boars drop on the spot when the wound channel pass close enough to the spine and enough energy is dumped? Or is it just shock no matter the shot placement?
Super impressive performance, the cheapness of the rounds is just the cherry on top. I hope you understand what a wealth of knowledge you've shared with us, i learn something new every video. The range of topics you cover is what keeps me waiting on your videos. Thanks for everything Todd and keep knocking those hogs over
Some people will pull those fmj and replace them with same grain weight hunting type projectiles. If you have time it seems to work might be an option. Good luck and happy hunting.
I was thinking the same thing, but I reckon resizing a steel case to seat the bullet wouldn't work well. Not to mention it ups the cost substantially. But you make a good point, Hornady makes a 123gr SST which would be a devastating bullet in x39.
@@thepatriotsrage661. I’m not sure about that but I have an uncle that’s doing it. Not sure if he is running steel case stuff or not but he didn’t say anything about resizing. Im guessing the case mouth is not expanded by pulling them like it would be if it was fired. Idk 🤷🏽♂️
Tubbs has excellent products. I’ve been putting his buffer springs in all my AR’s since he came out with them. I remember what a difference the Tubb buffer spring made with the newly released Magpul Gen1 PRS stock. Almost 20 years ago. Really transformed my first AR15.
My .02$. 2 options for you here. Unfortunately the best option for you kind of is a new round all together. Red army standard 3371. 123 hollow tip. Much deeper. And as a plus pretty much match ammo. If you can find it. If not. For the close up wreck em quick or run em down stuff with any option in x39. Maybe you won’t like the idea maybe you will. But I just run the tip off on a bench grinder. Just enough to where it’s flat and the lead part is about pencil lead big. Showing through. Quickest option. Second quickest is a center punch in the tip. 3-4 clicks and that hole will be like a true pistol hp angle. Not very deep but opened up real nice. They don’t shove down either. At least the couple cheap versions I’ve tried. But yea grinder or center punch. Helps if you have a seating die you can push them up into on a press and then punch, pull and next.
I had good luck with the 154gr SP, but yea haven't seen them restocked in a while. SGammo had like 600 rounds for 65cpr which made it hard to swallow. At that price makes me think I should just switch to 300bo lol.
Man, I miss these videos!
Killer content. Might have to give this a shot. All puns intended..
Great video! It felt like an old school Lone Star Boars video

Awesome content! I appreciate the real time testing. Not like everyone that test on a gel or water bottle !
Great video Todd - like the results u got with the deeper cut. 👍🏼
Thanks for sharing the process and testing.
Nice to see it doesnt effect accuracy much
Wish you would do a giveaway hunt this looks like alot of fun
Very cool! Thanks for the video Todd!
Both fmj and hollow point tumble. No expansion with either….with x39.
There is now. I haven’t had much luck with them tumbling.
So you’re saying I can make home defense rounds …
Very cool video. Love seeing how you improved the capability of those rounds.

Great video!

Keep up the good work
They got the job done and made a helluva mess. 👍
Love it. Great vid. Had me glued.
Awsome 🇺🇸🤙🏻

Beautiful shot placement
I like the picture in picture.
What optic are you using?
copper jacketed steel not for home defence it will penitrate walls
Thought the lungs were much further forward?
What was the optimal depth when using this cutter?

Soft points are best for expansion in 762 otherwise HP/FMJ most occasions

Nice video man. Maybe you could sell that tool from your store?
Nah it’s a weird deal you actually buy the license to use it. Have to get it from Tubb’s
I sold a large amount of that very ammo just about 6 months ago, had I known this could've been done to make it useable!
Very nice tool, good luck with the rest of all those, plus have a great weekend.
That 18:00 exit hole was as big as baseball 👍
*Lone Star Boars* Bravo well done, thank-you sir for taking the time to bring us along. GOD Bless.
Those bullets are neat. Lots of damage, lots of power. I wonder how good the performance gets with 308s.
I wouldn’t think those would feed worth a crap with the nose like that. Is that what caused malfunctions???
No once I turned up the gas they ran fine.

I can’t believe I’m just now finding this channel. Your videos are great
boom
You can’t eat them after that huh?
Think they'd feed in my older style Mutant alright after doing that? Since mine's stock and they're over gassed from the factory
Great video. I also buy that same brand ammo . I soon will be shopping at Tubbs..
What a difference the Tubbs cut bullets make, very impressive. Great video
