I spent like 20 mins on BookTok and... long story short I now have an album with over 400 photos of books to read but I don’t read. Like, honestly I don’t. The last time I read for pleasure was AT LEAST a year ago... gonna try read more now cause booktok has me hyped!
@@morwennaforatenner604 the only book I’ve read since then is girls made of snow and glass which I found off booktok and I enjoyed it! I keep forgetting to read so thank you this comment was a reminder to get back into it :)
UGH I LOVE TikTok SO MUCH but I'm one of those ADHDers that gets hyperfocused super easily so whenever I go on TikTok I'll arise from it 3 hours later like "holy sh!t wtf where was I?!" so I don't go on it as much as I used to and would like to. Also captioning the videos was a TASK but I found a pretty good app that does auto captions which makes video making SO MUCH EASIER so I defo gotta get back into that! Also, side note, your red knitted hat is SUPER CUTE! Sending you love
the first sister sounds so good and oh gosh song of achilles forever the feels. that dang book. i haven't read circe yet bc i'm just like madeline ma'am you can't be hurting us this way.
I am so glad you liked A Touch of Darkness! There were a lot of mixed reviews but I also agree that it was a purely fun book! Sometimes you just need a purely fun book for enjoyment. 😍
Scarlett St. Clair is a friend and former colleague of mine. I’m so glad you liked A Touch of Darkness! She has written for a long time and is very dedicated to improving her craft. 🥰
Oh, when you said you only wanted good things for patrochlus and achilles It broke my heart! Unlike you, i knew how it ended, but i still cried like a baby for the whole last 30 pages or so
I am so afraid to read The Song of Achilles because of how it will wreck me, but I did buy Circe by the author. Also, when I studied the Illiad in class, we pronounced Patroclus like Patra-kleese
I read Song of Achilles along with some friends on Discord, and hooo-boy, we loved it! Definitely want to pick up Circe by the author too! My favorite booktok-er is ezeekat! Jaysen is funny and a lovely presence on my FYP. (He's on UA-cam too!) Thanks for a fun video!! 💜 💜
Thank you so much for this lovely video. First off, I love hearing your perspectives on plots, characters, etc. I appreciate all the love you give to diversity in your reading. 💜 Also, your videos just bring my mom and I so much joy--your energy is such a beautiful break these last few months. I think you've read "This Is How You Lose the Time War", because that's the book/novella that came to mind with the enemies to lovers theme. 💜 Sooooo sapphic and hot. Happy Spring, Monica!
@@cozymonica omgs, I think you will *love* it. Sci-fi, falling in love via letters, time travel, lyrical poetic writing style and *ALL* of the things. 💙😁 Get it ASAP.
I'm listening to Song of Achilles right now. I'm taking it really slowly but it's definitely one of my favorite books of the year so far. I'm mostly not ready for the pain that the ending is going to put me through.
GIDEON! THE! NINTH! This book has got EVERYTHING. It's got SKELETONS it's got SPACE it's got VAST AND COMPLICATED RELIGIONS it's got ENEMIES it's got LESBIANS it's got MEMES it's got NECROMANCY - Seriously though, Gideon the Ninth is THE enemies-to-lovers book. They FULLY loathe and despise each other FOR VERY GOOD REASONS and yet they are FORCED to WORK TOGETHER and then things....Things happen.
Okay this is completely unrelated to the video but OH MY GOD ! Your outfit! Your shirt ! The matching eyeshadow! You are SOOO cute ! Sorry, you just look like a porcelain doll an it’s so precious 🥺🥺🥺
Just coming back to this video to tell you I bought Song of Achilles because if this video. I started it yesterday & finished it today... 😭 It was so beautiful. Thank you as always for the recommendations. I surprisingly don’t have TikTok so I feel like I wouldn’t have known about this book otherwise lol
I've had The Song of Achilles on my bookshelf collecting dust for months because I'm too scared to read it; I don't think I'm ready for that level of emotional devastation so soon after They Both Die at the End:'D
hi! i went into the song of achilles without any knowledge of the iliad and i think it's better that way because you don't know whats gonna happen. it's a retelling so people who know mythology will know how it'll turn out. i think u can get into greek mythology from here !! a great starting point, imo.
me seeing you sobbing at TSoA at the beginning: yep i knew this
I’m so happy you read The Song of Achilles! It’s one of my favorite books of all time 🥺🤍

The amount of money I’ve spent on TIK Tok recommendations is sad. THEY ALL SEEM LIKE SUCH INTERESTING, COMPLEX STORIES.
Great video!💛
I picked up Circe by Madeline Miller a few months back, now I'm more excited to get to it!
You look stunning!

Hi Monica! Do you think someone who knows nothing about Greek mythology and the Odyssey would still understand and appreciate The Song of Achilles?
