I think you did a fab job with this dress. It's very pretty on you, I love the blue. I hope you had a lovely evening out with your friends see you for porch coffee tomorrow. 😊
Thanks for showing the steps. Again I really like the sleeves! Didn't see in the short that it is attached on the ähm..."Träger" (forgot the english word, sorry). And I am a bit jalous as I cannot order this beautiful fabric here in Germany. Perfect result!
Wow, love this! I'm not a flutter sleeve wearers but I can see how it wouldn't be too tough to adapt the idea into a peasant sleeve like your inspiration dress. A tie strap would also be adorable.
Great video. I feel like I know how to make it now if I see it in a fabric I like. I like hearing how you think through the process, I haven’t sewn in a while, but I feel like I learned more about how to sew. I’ve been meaning to make some pillow cases…
Claire! This is so freakin cuuuute! I was just thinking that I wanted to get out my sewing machine and try my hand at sewing clothes (i've only ever made pillow cases and bags) This has inspired me to try, thank you! p.s. love a betsy johnson dress always! good thrift score :)
@@WoodshedTheory Shirring isn't as hard as it seems. You just load your machine with elastic thread on the top spool and sew. There is a little more to it than that but I cannot remember since it was so long ago now. I think you have to make sure there is tension on your thread so that it creates the gathering. I have used the same technique on shirt sleeves as well to make a bit of a puffed sleeve.
Oh in my school they never offered things like that, I just learned by doing it. As I am not very good at fine-motoric things and am able to do simple things with the machine I would say give it a try. If I am able probably everybody is😅
My understanding is shirring is the rows of elastic, so that's the right work. In a sewing course I found out smocking is actually gathering the fabric like that using embroidery. They look similar, but one is just elastic and one is done with embroidery. Just mentioning it due to the note at the beginning. 😅 I have a remnant piece from a fabric like that and eventually want to turn it into a doll dress, but it'll take a little more work since it's child-sized. Very cute dress. 💜
Those sleeves look great for preventing sunburn but still cool and breezy and cute
thanks I like them as well
Always feel gracious after one of your videos !!!
thanks!
@@AutismAddict haha, yes, me too😁
I want to make one for myself now. 😊
I hope you do!
you are super impressive, and look gorgeous in your new pretty dress!
Thanks for your support
My mom was a seamstress growing up. Those clips are amazing instead of pin pricks in your fingers.
The clips are a game changer
I have them too, really nice to work with.

Thanks so much see you tomorrow
Very well explained process!
Amazing work, Claire!
Thanks! I was hoping it was edited okay to show the process
That was SO fun! You made that look effortless! Great video! ❤
thank you!
I've made preshirred dresses with plain stras before but wanted some "more". this video was exactly what I was looking for! Thanks you.
I've never seen pre-shirred fabric before!!! Game changer 😮
yes it is so cool
Oh, I love flutter sleeves! This is super cute! ❤
Thank you!! 😊
Impressive work! Looks great!
Thanks a lot!
I like the new video intro, I don't remember seeing it before 😊
Thanks it is new from the past few videos
Love this so much!!!
That's a gorgeous dress, good work!
Thank you! 😊
It looks so good on you, but i guess you already knew thats what i thought from the short, hey that kinda rhymes 🤓.

Im sorry you can’t order it- wonder if you could find similar online?
@@WoodshedTheory never ever saw this before, so I guess not. But maybe in some years? Normally we get "Your" things some years later😄

I would love to make one with a more traditional sleeve - maybe soon
Those sleeves are genius, I absolutely love this dress! Thank you so much for sharing this, I’m feeling inspired to make one of these for someone! 😁
i hope you go for it

Glad it was helpful! I didn’t know if I was leaving in enough information but I didn’t want the video to be too long
@@WoodshedTheory I felt like it was a good balance! I did slow down the bit you sped up though haha
Very cute! Good call on the sleeves.
Thank you!
+woodshedtheory *FAB execution of an OP!* Patterned on a Betsy Johnson OP (a Lolita term for a one-piece dress).
Thank you
I really like the way you inserted the sleeve piece into the strap. I’ve watched other videos that left raw edges there.
thank you! i liked this solution as well. i know not everyone likes the open armpit situation but in the summer it is just what i needed

SUPER CUTE!!!!
thanks Niese
That’s is great that they make fabric with that smocking in it already. I sewed my own once and it was a pain.
that is amazing to hear - i bet your projects came out so well - i dont know if i would be good at shirring it myself

Nope cannot 🤪 Never had those classes in high school
That’s interesting! I think mine was the last home Economics course at my school but I learned to run a machine from my mom and the rest is UA-cam

ahh yes! you are very correct
Nice work!!!! 💞👊

Wow! That looks complicated!
thanks i think it looks more complicated that it is
