    When I'm looking at buying a new species of tarantula, you are my go-to person for accurate information. Your videos are so informative and inspiring. I have recently ordered a pamphobeteus platyomma. I feel confident and prepared, and that's thanks to you, Tom. I eagerly await your next video. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us.

    Start the day with a reptile expo, picking up 4 slings: B. klassi, H. maculata, A. ezendami, and C. fimbriatus, and almost picking up a 5th in P. cautus (if only I could have found more info on that specific species); and end the day with a TBS video. All in all, not a bad Saturday haha

    Nice catch cup! I shall keep that in mind!
    I've been bingeing Dave's little beasties for the last couple of months and tried several other channels but didn't like them. I'll never understand why people feel the need to over dramatize their content and poke/upset their animals to get "entertaining" footage.
    I'm very glad I found you! Your videos are just as awesome and educational than Dave's.
    And for me most important: Both of you always put the well being of the spiders first. 🥰

      Dave is definitely one of the good ones; a man who respects them and treats them with the care they deserve. I hate when folks poke and riled them up for views.
      Thanks so much!

    Like yourself Tom I started out being more into the giant species, and have kept a fair few pamphos in the past…now I only have one haha. As time goes on I’ve actually grown more of an appreciation for the “pet rocks” (not a fan of that term), and now my favourite spiders are brachys haha, quite the 180 really! Yours here is gorgeous though, nothing like a “big brown spider” eh? 😉😂

    Hey Tom! Awesome video as always. Love Pamphos but my "big tropical terrestrial" genera of choice is Nhandu. One day I will get a Pampho if sp. Solaris ever comes down in price. Picking up an N. incei Oliver this week which I'm very excited for as it's been on my wishlist for a long time and my Orphnaecus sp. Marinduque Purple just matured male so I had a slot open up. I wanted to let you know that as of yesterday, my dad has been declared cancer-free. The surgeon was able to remove the entire tumour and there were no more cancer fells found on the pathology report. Thank you and Billie for your support, videos, and podcasts during the past year.

    Hey Tom!
    Haha a Pamphobeteus and that good ol' Simply Lemonade, you're speaking directly to my heart. 😂
    P sp mascara was my 2nd sp. (after GBB). Just like you, I only give it big prey items (I'd probably go for a 1.5"+ dubia juvie once every 3 or 4 wks considering the size of yours 😅). Given the fact that Ts won't go into premolt before a certain amount of time, given the right conditions [temps, etc], no need to rush their feeding .. ;)
    I gave mine about 7" of substrate to burrow (as a subadult, still in the same 18"*3 enclosure as an adult female). She dug down, and then expanded to the side so her burrow is probably ~2x7" long. She just dashes into it at the slightest disturbance, which makes her very manageable (although ~8" as we speak). Quite beginner friendly actually. 1 big dubia once in a while, water bottle cap refilled as it dries out, and mostly dry environment, and she's doing fine. I'm gonna jack up the moisture since room temps are going up (maybe I'll empty up my 5L [~1.5 gal] sprinkler in there 😅). Moist & cold = baaad, moist & warm = gooood!
    Now, it's time to feed the monster haha. [Another good thing if you allow them to burrow, you know when they want to feed. They'll stay down in their burrow at night if they've got no interest. Right now she keeps coming back up so she's hungry fo' sho'. 😜)
    Cheers mate, thanks for the upload & enjoy your Pamphos! ❤
    Thomas

    • @TomsBigSpiders
      @TomsBigSpiders  5 місяців тому +1

      Hello, Thomas! Yeah, I'm giving more and more of my spiders deeper enclosures to allow for them to burrow. My chicken spider has remained burrowed, even though she is 8" now. That was a bit of a wakeup call. And that's a great point about knowing when they want to eat if they are burrowed! This one will definitely get deeper sub when it's time to rehouse her. Thanks again...I hope that all is well!

    • @thomasbazin1529
      @thomasbazin1529 5 місяців тому

      @TomsBigSpiders a chicken spider who likes to chicken out... Pretty good combination you've got here lol.
      I just watched your 'intermediate species podcast' from 5 yrs ago, and I must say, I surely did everything wrong. 😂 Started with 2 GBBs, got Pamphos 2/3 months later, and 3 sazimai slings... they're all doing fine anyway. 😉
      Finally moved one of the (~1.5") sazimai slings into a 6"*3 acrylic enclosure. Seems a lot more lively with the extra moisture. And it decided to burrow a bit this time. Nowhere like my pamphos who literally spent their days digging the whole thing out until finished. This one does little by little, when not basking in the open. Not all terrestrials are the same. ;P
      All good here, thanks! Stay safe mate! 🙏
