FINALLY beat Dracula as Richter thanks to your video. Also, for those who have played Mega Man X, the werewolf boss in this game is very similar to Armored Armadillo. Recognizing that was what helped me when I fought him the other day.
Very much appreciated. Informative and well-paced without talking down to anyone who might not be familiar with the game. The perfect demeanor for a walkthrough video. Looking forward to the SoTN videos, since I haven't played that game in almost a decade and to say I'm rusty is putting it mildly.
@@SweetJohnnyCage No rush, it looks like you've already gotten quite a few done. Very respectable. I've actually got a question about this trophy, now that I've gotten around to cleaning up. I've done everything you showed in the video, going through stage 4 twice for both paths, completing stage alt-5 with the bottom path, etc. I even did some things you didn't show. I fought the Bone Golem in the alternate path of regular stage 2, the Werewolf in alt-2, the Dulahan in the upper path of alt-4, everything. I'm still at 96%. I watched a 100% speedrun, and I've done everything they did as well. I've been looking around for answers, and the only things that stick out to me (which haven't been mentioned anywhere as being part of the criteria) are fighting Dogether in the alternate path of the chapel in stage 3 (where you break the rock and ride the elevator) and finishing stage alt-5 with the upper path, getting past those two knights. Any ideas? I'm baffled. I've done absolutely everything, as far as I can tell.
@@SweetJohnnyCage do u have to beat all levels with Richter beciase im still at 92%. and already beat the game and unlocked all levels and side levels and beat them
Great video! A good Strategy for Dulahan is to get hit by him. The slow curse also slows down your sub weapon, so if you have the bible or cross, it does more damage to him since it's around for more frames.
if you took the ferry in 2' you will need to go back and kill the bone golem. i was at 96% and this is what i needed also, if you've already killed dracula and you take the alternate path in stage 4 (the bomb path) you will fight carmilla there and go through the alternate stage 5 (the gauntlet, bossless one).
Wow, great video. I didn't know about the extended whip and the back flip. I try to jump forward and got hit everytime. I've played the symphony of night and I didn't have too many problems because of all the over powered weapon I can grind for. This game is another story. I didn't couldn't even pass the first boss with the wagon, lol. This game is so hard and your skill is unmatched. After seeing this video, I might try to play the game again because of these great tips you gave out. Not going to get any trophy anytime soon, just trying to see if I can progress the game is good enough for me. Great job on the game play and video. Thank you.
The Dead Cells DLC for Castlevania put me in the mood to replay them all and I totally forgot how hard this one is, but it's soooo satisfying when you finally make progress!
I only played Rondo in order to get the rest of the trophies, and it was much harder than I thought it would be, but the kind of fun challenge. I got a lot of help from your videos, so thank you for all you effort into creating such a helpful content. Only thing I'd like to add, is that I thought it was easier to play with Maria some of the levels, specially the last one, the 5 alternate. But your playthrough definitely helped.
In Stage 7, let any bat from behind that can pass safely, pass, because it will stay on the screen longer as you walk toward it. Having a bat on the screen ahead slows the spawning of new bats behind. You can’t catch up to it anyway so you don’t have to worry about it as you press on, so it’s as good as gone, but better, since another bat won’t replace it as fast.
Great guide Johnny. It all helped but i was stuck at 98%. Last trophy i need to get my Platinum. After hours of going through every stage trying to get it to unlock. I started from stage 1 with Maria moving forward. Getting to the Clock Tower, even though I saved Annette with Richter. I saved Annette once again with Maria, had a different cut seen and with just that I received the The Full Belmonty Trophy, and the sweet sight of the Platinum. Hope this helped anyone stuck at 96 or 98%, you might have a cut scene missing and stopped you from what's rightfully yours. Your Platinum. Onward to Blasphemous, hope you have a guide Johnny!
In regards to the Vampire Killer Trophy.....if the player dies at the boss but has another life then defeats the boss taking no damage the player will receive the trophy. the game treats it as if the player had taken no damage throughout the whole level. so, if someone is having trouble just die your first go round with the wyvern. the game will start you at full health right at the wyvern boss fight and once you know his moves he is simple to take down without taking damage.
That's a good question that I'm sorry to say I don't know the answer to. You need the game to award you with the No Damage Bonus, but I'm not sure if it will do that if you've taken a death in the level.
When fighting the “Mummy Man,” you can go through the blocks without taking damage when you do certain item crashes. I like to use the axe because the crash will wipe out all of his little strands and you can immediately resume pummeling him.
Thanks for the video. I was stuck at 96% complete even though I defeated all bosses. So I started on level 4' alternate path and finished up level 5' and the trophy popped.
Both bosses are available in every level on the branching paths except stage 5, since 5’ (“Five Dash”) is special. Just like there is an upper and lower route, there is an upper and lower boss on each stage. That means you can find Bone Gollum in both 2 and 2’, which is something I didn’t realize until today. You usually get clobbered when you fall into the sewers and you typically want to die anyway so you can get another crack at saving Maria. Strangely, it revives you back up there with the zombie bull though drop areas typically don’t let you go back. Both 2 and 2’ stages have the werewolf too. Of course, there are some extra stage exits that do not have a boss, like when you exit stage left of 2’ on the secret boat ride or when you take either exit on 5’. I don’t think those exits count toward your completion percentage.
Thanks for a great video! I wanted to add that during the Mummy fight, if you whip him off the bat and then item crash Holy Water when the first blocks pop up, they'll slide through you AND no bandages will appear. You can take him down with no damage (though watch for the second batch of blocks).
For all those who are locked in 96%, simply do stage 4 again, but without popping the bomb on the wall, just go up the stairs and kill the Dullahan again. You can do with Maria that is much easier and counts the same.
Guide is mostly pretty good, but there is something in your editing that is a bit misleading - When you're rescuing Iris, at the start of 21:56, you're talking about the frog statues. When you get to the second one (at the end of that specific area), you start moving left, but then you edited out some of it. Your commentary doesn't point out that you need to go *back* to the start of the area, and you almost make it sound as if the natural progression of the stage (i.e. taking the gate) will lead you to that wooden ramp. Since it doesn't, I ended up taking the gate and progressing the stage normally, missing Iris in the process. Obviously part of it was my own fault, in retrospect, your commentary and what you showed was fine, but I think it could be a little more clear that the 2 frog statues lowers one of the wooden bridges that you walk across in that same area. I also would say that your strategy for Dracula (using Richter) is actually more difficult to pull off then you lead on - When I was attempting it, I almost always took damage. I think it takes some really precise positioning in order for Richter to destroy the fireballs, which can be difficult. Instead, if anyone else is reading this and was struggling like I was - Consider backflipping over the fireballs instead, as it seems to be relatively forgiving. You still have to position yourself further (rather than closer) from Dracula, hit him in the head as soon as he appears, then quickly turn around and do a backflip. Just remember you have to be stationary in order to backflip, so you have to stop -> backflip very quickly, but I found it fairly manageable if I started right after I hit Drac.
That's a good point and I appreciate the feedback. I originally had that backtracking footage sped up by 300% but decided to just cut it entirely. I'll leave that sort of thing in next time.
I did want to say I do appreciate you posting this though (I didn't want to make it sound like I just wanted to nitpick). I did earn the trophy with your guidance, as I was completely new to Rondo. I did like how you pointed out some strategies about how to deal with some things (like your suggestion about "standing next to the Ferryman", it worked great), although it does make me wish you did it more often lol some of those boss battle are rough.
hello thank you for the trophy guide I have a little question for the 100% on rondo of blood should you save the characters with only richter or should you do it with maria fox also
I used your guide to play, and I'm at 96%. I played with Maria and I don't have the skills to play with Richter. Does it work with Maria? How do I get 100%?
Anyone stuck on 98%? I've completed all stages. Rescued all 4 maidens. Killed all normal and alternate bosses. And killed Dracula 3 times. Once with Richter and twice with Maria. I may do a replay if it comes to that but I hope I can get help.
I was stuck at 98% as well. Played the games for hours trying to get it to pop. Played Maria and saved Annette and received a different cutscene, and with just that I got 100%
I have killed all bosses but I just have 96% of the game :/ 1 question : when I chose other path i need kill the boss too count for the % of the game? For exemple level 4 have 2 paths I just need kill the boss in one of the paths right? Sorry the bad English x)
You need to kill each boss on their own path. Take Stage 2 for example. If you stay on the upper level, you'll fight Werewolf. If you drop down to the lower level, you have to fight Bone Golem to get the % completion. You can't drop to the lower level, then leave via the secret exit, or somehow make your way back to Werewolf (I don't even think this is possible). You have to fight the boss that corresponds to that path. I believe the secret exit with the ferryman is required for 100%, but you absolutely have to fight the boss as well on another play through the level. Always fight the boss that corresponds with each path and you'll get 100%.
I can't remember if there's a manual available in this version, but you can find her moves listed here - castlevania.fandom.com/wiki/Maria_Renard/Symphony_of_the_Night/Saturn

hey a have 96% and i can't go to the level without boss, i made everything and play with richter and maria, defeat all boss but the stage don't open, the game take me to the level of death is the boss everytime, i don't know whats going on
For stage 6, boss gauntlet, I thought I would be wise and cunning by reaching Shaft and abuse the Save and Quit feature to keep trying to beat him without having to redo all 4 bosses. Well I thought that's what you meant in the video.. nope. the game is wise and cunning also and it don't work like that. YOU WILL HAVE TO BEAT THEM ALL AGAIN. Soooo.. git gud ya bastard. FML XD
Does anyone here think that Bloodborne took a lot of inspiration from this game? I swear, some of the Bloodborne enemies and bosses are carbon copies from this game.
Castlevania uses creatures from Victorian era fiction like Frankenstein, Dracula, and others. Plus it also takes inspiration from the Hammer films and Universal monster movies. Bloodborne is set in a Victorian gothic city, so it's similar. I always felt like Cainhurst was Miyazaki's love letter to Castlevania, though.
This is the least Castlevania question I have ever seen. Does anyone think that a Castlevania game was directly "inspired" by another Castlevania game...? Are you actually serious? Uh. Yeah. Brilliant observation.
Rondon of Shit is the worst Castlevania Ever 😡 i don't know why the Konami assholes added this shit with the Symphony of the Night, and my big mistake ever that when i purchased it.

Hey bro do u have a symphony of night guide?
I have a bunch! What are you looking for help on?
@SweetJohnnyCage - Narrated Guides & Walkthroughs im starting the game from the beginning, so the whole thing please! Do you have a video that covers every trophy??
@@Don_Piscatella I don't have a guide like this one for SotN. It's a very different game with a gigantic interconnected castle. That said, I do have a 20-minute walkthrough that you can refer to in case you're stuck or don't know where to go next while you're playing. I encourage you to get lost in the game and figure things out, as it's one of the greatest games of all time, but in case you need help, here it is!

@@SweetJohnnyCage thanks bro. Subbed to your channel bro
@@Don_Piscatella much appreciated!
Ive been finding Shaft's ghost WAY harder than his first form
I had some runs where the wyvern would fly down constantly, which is a bit difficult to manage. But if you can hit him right away at the start, you can basically bounce him back and forth while only dealing with the behemoth.
@@SweetJohnnyCage the bats are a pain in the ass. They're hard to see and easy to forget about until they start reking you. Anyway, thanks for the tip. I'm on my very first playthrough EVER of this game and I've ran, walked, limped, and crawled my way to Shaft's ghost and he his like a 5 foot thick titanium wall between me and Dracula.
Do you need to beat all the levels as Richter for 100% or can you use Maria?
Pretty sure you just have to beat them. Doesn't matter the character.
@@SweetJohnnyCage hey so for 100% just beating each version of the stage and all bosses once is enough? For example, from Stage 2' I don't have to fight the werewolf again? I can just proceed on that branch?
rondo of blood is do fucking hard!
how do u use the super power with all the crosses
Press triangle when you have enough hearts and the cross subweapon.
Can someone please tell me how to item crush on the PS4 version? It says select button which is the touchpad but I've done that and everything I can think of and haven't seen any results.
IIRC it's Triangle.
@@SweetJohnnyCage Triangle doesn't do anything.
@@curttuckfield5565 You need more hearts to item crash than to use the item normally. The Hydro Storm (holy water) item crash cost 20 hearts. I just tested it, and I can confirm it's done with Triangle.
@@SweetJohnnyCage That's gotta be it. Not enough hearts. I had like 18 or something. Thanks man. That's probably the answer. I'll try it out.
Hi, why richter can't use the moves he have in CSOTN?? The low dash the uppercut the chain sustain?? Is not possible in rondo of blood?
Nope, those moves were not added until SotN.
I'm still in 96% and i don't why
To get the 100% do you have to beat all levels with Richter
??
It counts with Maria too.
if i rescue any character as maria ,i don’t get the trophy?
I don't think Maria can rescue characters. The rooms are empty for her, IIRC.
@ oh,ok
Dude i'm with 98% of completion. I passed through every single boss and no trophy yet... even kill dracula with richter is already done... i'm starting to think it's a bug.
It's a pain in the ass to get it to pop. You need go through each stage and fight the intended boss. So make sure you're doing that. It goes something like this
Stage 1: Wyvern
Stage 1': Water Serpent
Stage 2: Werewolf
Stage 2': Bone Golem
Stage 3: Minotaur
Stage 3': Dogether
Stage 4: Dullahan
Stage 4': Carmilla
Stage 5: Death
Stage 5': Nothing
Stage 6: Shaft
Stage 7: Shaft's Ghost
Stage 8: Dracula
Did this get resolved? I'm stuck at 98% aswell... But I've beaten all boss and rescued all the ladies
By the sweetJohnnycage.........Trosty!!!
Wait, how do you backflip?
Double tap X.
hey a have 96% and i can't go to the level without boss, i made everything and play with richter and maria, defeat all boss but the stage don't open, the game take me to the level of death is the boss everytime, i don't know whats going on
You've killed Dracula?
Yes
@@allangbmathias Did you save all the girls?
All 4 and maria
Ive saved all 4 girls, beat dracula as maria and richter and done all branching paths and i have 92%
I had no idea there was a sissy way of doing 5' lol
I didnt got the trophy and I've been played this game and nothing man
It's actually a Behemoth not a kotoba.........what was that again?
Oh you said Catoblepas never mind😅😅
@@sayaksen8296 i didn't know it was called a behemoth in Castlevania haha. Been playing too much Final Fantasy I guess :D
FML XD
Up & [] ? Sub-weapons dont work that way in Rondo (unless you configure it that way) Just press R1😉
@Elvick yes, just beat it. Have YOU? It's R1 all day
@@SlayerRunefrost No they don't
I can't get passed the bats in stage 7. :(
@Ryan Acton I cheated...I belly slid through with Maria LOL!
@Ryan Acton But why lol?
@Ryan Acton I tried with him countless times, I gave up using him, but just for that level.
Im at 98 percent and its pissing me off.
I got it now I needed Anette. Strange because I hot her before..
I really wanna platinum this game so it sits next to Bloodstained but fuck rondo is such a shitty game.
@@leadbones What
@@leadbones i think you just confused castlevania bloodlines with bloodborne.
@@specter538ap and he isn’t even answering what a pusy
Rondon of Shit is the worst Castlevania Ever 😡 i don't know why the Konami assholes added this shit with the Symphony of the Night, and my big mistake ever that when i purchased it.
Git gud :P
