Very much like John McGeoch. MXR Flangers are the key to the 80s Banshees sound. Probably a chorus in there too, but if you watch any footage, especially the Nocturne video, you will see that some of the songs would require an MXR flanger to be on a stand in front of the guitarist, as John would sweep the knobs in real time on some songs. This is all info Robert talked about in interviews.
Great to see Robert in the Banshees,I loved the banshees during this period. This must have been recorded shortly before Robert Smith left the Banshees.
@viletone84 Hates? WHY? Yes, I confide that I didn't liked it at first time, except three songs (Dazzle, Dear Prudence and Blow the house down), but now, I think this album is great!
@7OLGA7 It's cuz John McGeogh was asked to leave and they brought in Robert Smith. I see where some people are coming from, this album would've been even more awesome had he done the guitars.
I think John McKay is criminally underrated (even more so than McGeoch). You rarely see anything written about McKay but he was largely responsible for the music on the first two albums. Robert Smith is rightly ignored as a guitarist. ;o)
She was beyond cool. Robert sounds great. They all do.
Brilliant from the banshees love the sound of Roberts guitar

Bless them all. Coming out of the punk or post-punk scene and becoming another entity. Golden era of music pre 1985!

Absolutely brilliant
I had this CD in '87. Fuckin' love it.
superb
This is EXCELLENT!
John wasn't asked to leave. He had a breakdown, caused by the pressure of touring & drinking too much.
Belleza
fuckin splendid x
McGeoch-era Banshees were the best. Neither side recovered from the split.
secallen I prefer John McKay.
Does anybody have time machine? Because i love miss Siouxsie but I'm 30 years younger ..i dont know what to do.

Guitar whit Flanger,Delay,Chorus,Phaser.....
This track is better than the album version faster & Sioux as no nickers on well that’s my fantasy
@godstar69 This was the first album I picked up from them and everyone hates it for some reason. It's nice a poppy.

The voice is having to compete with the guitar on this. J McG always complemented the vocals with the guitar parts he created.
secallen I prefer Smith's and John McKay's guitar work to McGeoch's.

secallen I've seen The Cure twice and can rightly say that he is a very good guitarist.
Maybe when you saw him in the cure, but he was awful in the Banshees when trying to recreate McKay/McGeoch guitar lines.
Rattlers at.your feet
I used to live in Sydney, it's shit.
I prefer John McKay's and Robert Smith's guitar work over McGeoch 's.
