    Great information to see.
    Also love the Costco Mousse glasses.
    3 questions:
    1. Is this consistent over different brands/ranges of gelballs?
    2. If we sent you ?10? or so different packs, would you be interested in trying this again across a bigger range? For science?
    3. Gelballs are a form of Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP). In theory (and depending on manufacturing method), once drained and left to sit uncompressed (eg. Flat tray) a gelball should achieve uniformity of hydration across the Polymer chains inside the Gelball. Can you confirm this?
    Epic work and information as always.

      It is generally consistent over all brands. Obviously there are some variables like water quality and temperature, and there are certainly other methods of growing that I haven't touched on here. But I can see myself doing more of this type of video in the future.

    I think water quality and ambient temp play a part as well.
    2 hour minimum and then check with calipers every 5 minutes til you get desired size average, then sort.

    The ones you plucked out early, (1.5hrs etc) if you come back in a few hrs, they should get 'rounder' with time. Better quality gells, better results. I have a Shark with an imported barrel. I used it in gelsoft once. Trying to make 6mm gels (aka's, the best we had back then) was tedious. And involved a measure of water, 8 units or something. 1 gel per ice cube in an ice cube tray. Took ages to make 6 mags worth but it worked, sorta.
    It's frigging gelsoft. I don't even spend that much time on real bullets. Bucket of water, handful of gels, 4hrs, done. Get 'Nannys' out of office, bring in Airsoft.

    Nice vid man. But it’s bitter sweet to know that all those blokes telling me “it’s how your growing them, not the gels” were wrong, because now I know I’m not incapable of growing gels properly, but the search is back on for suitable gel brands 😂😞

      Nope. because the gel is the harding agent, not the water. Thats why they are still hard to crush when they are undersized.

    Yep, I've thought this for a long time, I do no less than 4 hrs I've even left them over night without any issues. I've got 2 sieves, one has 7.35mm holes and the other has 7mm holes. I put 7.35mm on top of the 7mm put them over a bucket and then sieve my gels. Guaranteed 7 to 7.35mm gels as a bonus most of the oval shaped ones get filtered out as well. I have talked to the Ausgel people and they've told me the gels need 4 hrs in water to be cured fully (hardened) and round out properly. Anything less and they're softer and less round.

    And even though bruise master has shut down gbu has 7.2mm stainless barrels and azraels armoury has 7.25mm barrels, the only thing with the gbu barrels is there's a seam inside the barrels the whole length and apparently if you run the seam at the top it will help even more with accuracy, guess it acts like a built in hopup, i glued one in before they put the seam at the top thing in the description, lol i brought like 6 of the first batch and even with the seam at roughly 10 o'clock it's still pretty bloody accurate ,and i haven't used the 7.25mm one from azraels armoury so can't comment about those and i don't know when they are coming but a friend in the US sent me pictures of stainless barrel with built in hopups by poseiadon, i think that's how you spell it, they do really high end awesome quality expensive pistols and a few part's but i got sent the pictures atleast 6 months ago so who knows when they will be available

    If you are interested in the vid where the gbu boys are doing 50m shot's and where Benny mods said they were using bruise master barrels aka gels and aka hopups and if you are using that combo you are on the right track. The name of the vid by gbu is field testing multiple high fps blasters feat **dsg**/**hpa**. have a look if you haven't seen it maybe you can pull that 50m

  • @parklife15

    Highlights the gel BS, we need plastic bb's/Airsoft. Proper hopups set at the start of the barrel not the end.
    Other option, get a gel company to have the gel at a much larger size than say an ultra elite, that requires a small amount of water to reach size, say max 1 hour grow.

      Problem with this is that the water contains the weight, even if you had a larger gel before hyrdation, the gell will be harder, but will be lighter.

    Problem is, if you leave it in for more than 2 hours you get crazy sized gels which jam.. Like 7.8mm gels (only .2mm from 8mm).
    If you dont have a size sorter (like me) the best way to avoid these massive gels is to control grow to around the 2 hour mark.

    • @lowguidoschopshop
      @lowguidoschopshop  2 роки тому

      I'm not saying under-growing doesn't yield smaller gels, (because it clearly does) but it just yields smaller gels of inconsistent shapes. And if I'm trying to make that 50m shot, they just won't do.

    • @drewmurray6480
      @drewmurray6480 2 роки тому

      It looks like you need to buy one of the primal tech armoury hpa biggie barrels that is 7.65mm or the ceh hpa ones that are the same id if you want to use those gels ,even if you are running a aeg and as for the 50m shot there's a video that gbu did ages ago with a pic of the gel ball stig holding a slr with a polarstar F2 and is called high fps and range testing or something like that and and they hit a mannequin at 50m and Benny mods said that they are using bruise master barrels 😂 can't get them any more but gbu has 7.2mm stainless barrels and azraels has 7.25mm so pretty close ,they were also using aka gels and at that time of filming im pretty sure that they were the first batch of them and aka hopups ,so to cut a long story short he said if you are using those 3 products you are on the right track

    • @drewmurray6480

      They basically did it to bust the myth of high fps and accuracy and they used several different blasters and they ranged from a 320fps ish dsg up to a 430fps ish one from memory and the blasters also ranged in length, from memory the smallest one was one of those aps mpx's pretty sure it's called, whatever the smallest aps phantom they do ,the one that had all the red anodised bit's on it on the first batch a couple of years ago, so that only had a 10 or 12cm barrel in it from memory lol i should know cause i actually have the exact same black and red one 🤣 just hard to remember when you have around 15 blasters

    I'm curious to know what happens if you take the not quite fully hydrated gels (say the 1.5 hour ones), and leave them out of water for a period of time. Does the inner part that's not grown fully absorb water from the outer, hydrated part? If it does do you end up with a smaller, nicely spherical gel, or does it stay wonky? Might have to do a bit of experimenting myself.

  • @pantheraleoromanus6241
    @pantheraleoromanus6241 2 роки тому

    Dear friend,
    Just one thought I had after watching your video for those who are concerned about their ball size.
    Now how one could perhaps reduce the size of their gel balls and retain their spherical shape after being fully grown.
    Sorry that I can’t try this myself as I do not have a microwave oven as strange as it may seem, but I never had a use for one.
    I was just thinking if you would place a number of gel balls in a cup and place them in a microwave oven for several seconds, they actually may reduce in size as they should commence to dry out and shed water, therefore becoming smaller in size. I believe the duration of time left in the microwave oven may have to be played around with to obtain optimum results.
    In theory because a microwave oven operates by heating the center of the food item first unlike a conventional oven, this may allow the gels to retain its spherical shape regardless of their size, as they commence to shrink.
    Then again, I might be totally mistaken and they may just turn to a gel sludge.
    I guess this is why an experiment of this nature just may yield some results.
    Furthermore, perhaps using a flashlight when showing close ups of gel balls or any small items may be of assistance.
    Great video.

    This is unreasonable. Need enough water. Water quality requirements are the same. If the water quality is not good, you can choose pure water (pure water is easy to swell, reducing time) and stir them regularly so that they will be the same size. The first time I did the test, and I wrote down the time. I often measured the size with a caliper. I kept 7.2mm, and measured 10 pieces. Stop foaming when 2 pieces exceed 7.2. And wipe with a towel.
