Not being able to run and having had spinal surgery on multiple levels, a "common" fist fight could prove lethal to me. So, along with my "verbal judo and command voice," I carry pepper spray with a keen awareness of making sure my little G26 is ready for action as my options are severely limited. I'm so glad AZ changed their laws on this a couple of years ago. It makes it easy to convince a bad guy that I'm not the target they think I am. Thanks for taking the time, John. It's always worthwhile to hear what you have to say. God Bless!
i second that i am so tired of wearing ear plugs around the house all the time the kids hate it to....lol ..a suppressor would make home life much better..
Ayuh, I need to know and understand, as a responsible law abiding gun owner, when and when not to use it. And of course the same applies to "less lethal" force if I am ever in that situation. De-escalate, evade, escape. I will do my best to not get into a confrontation that will require any force but, if bad people with bad intentions confront me and or my loved ones I am ready. Thanks for another great video John and Marc! Be safe! Randy
We just discussed *use of force.* (good info) 1. Fortunately in my profession I *don't* have to *meet force with equal force.* 2. If you raise your fist to fight, I can immediately transition to *OC, taser or baton* my choice.
I would say a self-defender could as well. The force required to repel an attack is often necessarily greater than the level of the attackers force. In fact I would argue a citizen could use OC in circumstances in which a peace officer probably could not.
@@ASPextra I've found that to be true in private secury as well John especially when using force to protect property or eject a trespasser. Cops are restrained by policy and other legal constraints as in my state we don't have private police or security police.
For someone like me, someone that is on blood-thinning medication, "regular physical force" COULD possibly become fatal to me. If i get cut in a fight or get slammed on my head and get a concussion...A bruise is bleeding under the skin. If my brain takes a hard enough hit it could be my end. So i should probably get a consultation with an attorney. Because I'm not letting someone put their hands on me and if someone tries to then i would do whatever i could to cause the most devistation as fast as possible in order to stop an attacker. And if my pistol is with me I'm unfortunately going to have no other choice if I can't safely retreat
The burden of "meeting with equal force" should not be imposed upon Citizens who are victimized by real assaults should not have the burden of responding with "equal force." In the real world, if someone punches you in the face, you are stunned and have no idea what's coming next. Maybe you've never even thrown a punch before (what percentage of law-abiding citizens have ever punched someone in the face?) If punching someone in the face was legal justification for that person to shoot you in the immediate aftermath, I think we'd see a lot less people punching others in the face.
Yeah, if a criminal just straight up walks up to you without threatening you or anything, you can't threaten him, but now he's right on top of you and you almost can't use your gun.
One of the less lethal force multipliers is one that I have not heard of before. I carry two spare mags on my belt when I Conceal carry. By putting one in each fist creates, in essence, brass knuckles. Additionally, the sharp edges can easily cut skin.
Bro… That sounds nice but let’s keep it 100. Two 200lb muscled up thugs who have been in 100 fights each wants to fight a normal man (or woman), most normal people are gonna have to go to their gun or they are gonna end up in either a hospital or morgue.
I am leaving a comment here instead of on your main channel because I know you're more likely to see it here. The poll in the last video (on the main channel) asked if I'd talked to my kids about self defense. I don't have kids. Perhaps make polls in the future have that option? Just an idea. Thanks. Also, this was a good video as well.
Legit question here that I’m sure a lot of people have. A “normal fight” can EASILY EASILY result in someone being permanently injured or killed. Are we saying that if a 6’5’’ 260lb guy is attempting to curb stomp you to death, and you have a firearm, you cannot use that firearm? If you’re a black belt in jujutsu that’s probably totally cool but if you’re a normal person that’s a MAJOR PROBLEM. Please address this on your channel if you haven’t already.
That’s not what we said, James. Being curb stomped is not the same as a threat of ordinary physical force. So you’ve taken the statement out of context.
High powered lights work well. Invest they deter a fool. The person may try grabbing rocks so be aware. Beat them to the punch. If you are not sparing at the gym. Pepper as required. Close their 👀😣. Closed eyes calm them down.
Arizona statutes are silent on brass knuckles per se, but they are considered a deadly weapon so their carry and use should always be considered in that light.
Stay away from those. I’m most states they are legal but in using them in a street fight you can get charged with a felony even in self defense. Pepper spray is as good as it gets.

Here's the bottom line folks. Regardless of where you are and what the laws are if you know you could die in a given situation don't let the confusion and doubt of laws get you killed. React with lighting speed to save your life. I'm not going to die because some DA might not see the threat to me as deadly. It's my life and not the DA'S. Here is the way a national law should read John...'Any criminal act commited towards any innocent person or said person's property can be met with swift and deadly force.' Now many people will say 'well that would get a lot of people killed'. Yes, it would...EVIL CRIMINALS. That way we could clean up this rat problem we have in our society. I will add a little more with an example. A DA would probably say a fist fight attack is not a lethal threat. I read a news story where an elderly man was sucker punched at a carnival and died from that one punch. That man listening to the DA got him killed. I rest my case.
@@ASPextra Lets look at an example one would see in a college logic class. If someone such as a DA makes a statment such as... "A fist thrown at you is not a deadly threat." All that one has to do to render that statement false is to find one and only one instance where it was deadly. I can produce not only one but many instances where a person has been killed by a sucker punch. Therfore, the statement that a fist thrown at you is not a deadly threat is false. Instead it IS a deadly threat. Thus, a fist thrown at one should be met with deadly force. The logic is solid and can not be refuted. Unfortunately, many legislatures have brains incapable of sound logic and this is why we have such a network of conflicting laws on guns and the use of force. John, you yourself mentioned in the video that we need a national law on gun possession, transport and the use of deadly force. That law needs to short, direct and easily understood by the common lay person. The law I mentioned in my comment does that. Keep up your great work John where we the people can have conversations like this. I have learned a lot watching your channel. Thanks!
An elderly person being sucker punched is completely different from a 30 year old man being sucker punched. An elderly person is likely to die or be seriously injured from a punch to the head, than a 30 year old man is. The same logic would apply to a female or to a child. It's not about the level or force only, it's also about WHO the victim is. I'm not a lawyer but that's a common understanding of how levels of force response work.
