Glad my video helped. Thanks for the shoutout. If I could only have one saw it would be a 261. Power to weight ratio can’t be beat. That saw will really come alive after its broke in. Take care!👍🏻
I have had a 261C for years. Cut a lot of wood with it. Love the saw and definitely can speak to the reliability. It just runs and cuts low kickback chains have one purpose in my opinion cutting stumps at ground level.
Saw is sounding good! I have had the muffler mod for about two months and can’t bring myself to cut a hole in my muffler😂 I think as I may be responsible for some people in the community buying a 400c, Rod @ Firewood Midwest is responsible for lots of 261c purchases. Myself being one of them! Y’all have a great weekend👊🏻
A full chisel non safety chain will do more then a muffler mod to make a saw perform better. Watch the top cover with that muffler mod,it will eventually melt and it will also cause a saw to over heat by blocking the cooling passage on that side of the muffler cover.
I think the chain made a huge difference, I think the top cover will be ok the way it’s routed, I’ll have to check with firewood Midwest and see if he’s had problems with his.

Thanks for helping out!
“I don’t think there could be a more perfect saw for me!” Until he runs a 400, then a 462, the a 500i, then a 661….you’ve created a monster 😂
I keep telling him once we get into some big wood he’ll be begging to use one of my 70 cc saws 🤣
I was the exact same way but my 261 is Stihl my baby.
Very nice saw . I believe I want one !!!
Just purchased a MS261, running a 20 in bar, yellow chain. Haven't modified it, yet!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
I bet your liking it! I think 20” is perfect for this size saw.

I’ve got a ms 261 and it’s amazing 🤩 I have bought some double dogs for the saw as in Ireland the saw has only one dog on it 😭
What a great saw! I need one…👍🪵👍
It’s definitely a nice smaller saw!
