I think they should go all out on custom lobbies, creating maps (walls,floors,roofs,covers,stairs not really anything crazy) and then like super in detail with you get to place objective locations, you can have multiple win types at the same time like you can set the win to be (x amount of kills) AND (x amount of obj time) I think like half of the player base are people in customs. (and off topic but gears skins are super cool compared to every other game they should double down on skins and have 5-6 on EVERY character at the minimum.
As a gamer we want to grind stuff if they just added more skins for certain tasks like a lot more challenges and all that
I love the horde mode and that's all I play. Pretty happy with horde 8/10

So i never play the campaign on this game, Just online. One thing that keeps me hooked is the mechanics. Wall bounce,straffing, wrap shots etc is just so addicting To me. Btw I’m ass at it, I’m ok not good. When I hit a good wrap or wall bounce through high rank enemies I feel like a kid that landed a skateboard trick. It’s rewarding to me in some way

I put so much time on this game in its prime but in the last two years have hardly played it… it’s a 4.5 in its state. literally went to grind gears 2 lol
Always liked Kenny as a pro player. To me he's the jack of all trade players, support, crosser, shoutouts and can slay when the time comes.
In terms of gears 5 it just seems to easy for less rewards, just seems hard to miss and even harder to out maneuver. Gears 3 felt rewarding (and canny funny) strafing and just stop moving altogether to dodge shots aswell as the wall bouncing mechanics, best online gears imo
This game is a solid 6/10 at its best.
I can't even enjoy playing ranked anymore. Quick play casual these days. Very sad. Can't compete.

Okay I was watching this and y'all were talking about writing it. The best way to do it is if judgment is one and gears of war. 3 is a 10, then five would be like a 7or 8 maybe in my book

I actually love gears it was my first pvp game I played starting at age 7. Im 20 now. I'd rate the game a 7 out of 10, enjoyment 8.
Idk it may be because Im new but I actually really enjoy gears 5. i take breaks from time to time but its always I game I love picking back up.

I rate gear4 campaign very highly tbh fort the jd/Marcus dynamic was brilliant, seen a different side to marcus is always nice a lighter tone for the most part, enjoy moments like that because I’m not sure Marcus is getting the happy ending well all want for him

I give gears 5 a 7.5 out of 10, at times the game doesn’t play in your favor, yet other times you could easily enjoy it. The only thing that really throws it off are the bots, because even on beginner mode they are god damn menaces. Other than that, pretty solid game.
I'd give this game a 5,not consistent connection wise,plus too many over sweaty tryhards who forget to enjoy the game in pvp,I mainly play horde to avoid some dick messaging me to "get gud skrub"😅

Revamping the PvE stuff like horde, escape, campaign and tying in rewards to them would be perfect. I've seen people grind Destiny 2 strikes back to back just to get a weapon skin.
i stopped playing this game for a good year because of the stacks. then they took stacks away, so i came back. the community was split over this, with a bunch of guys whining about not being able to play with their best friends, anymore, and how their family nights were all ruined, so they brought the stacks back, and i left again. there's no reason why a group of four mic'd up guys should be playing four randoms with no mics.

My enjoyment: 5/10 since I play this game once a week or once a couple weeks

True, most gears pros would sooner fit into the "thug" archetype sooner than "gamer"
Some Melee and Halo pros are pretty cool but others are pretty unbearable/autistic

Campaign is ass, Horde is ass, Escape is ass.
I'd rate Gears 5 a 3 / 10. Its skins are solid and the models are great, other than that its not an enjoyable experience, It feels nothing like gears, Nothing has any "Weight" to it like other titles, The aim assist is bullshit and rewards bad players, Anybody can be good at it, And the thing that ruins it most for me, Is the annoying / Cringe ass emotes, Its like its trying to be Fortnite or something. It's literally gears of war for babies in my opinion..
I rate this game is a 7/10. But im addicted to the movement so my happiness level is probably a 7/10. Ive played gears my whole life but im adapting to this new gen. I still find it fun to play for sure

i don't understand why players like Icy need to grind hard af to get back on top level, then there are players like Powerz that play 1 match after months and they're still on top level... is Talent a thing? or Gaming Predisposition like beeing tall in Basketball? idk
I'm pretty sure all the top players are playing pick up games in some discord together somewhere, and not in ranked.
If Nick wanted to actually grind, he'd play with them I'm sure, not to speak for someone else but I think Nick is content chilling and making content since gears is kinda dead right now.

This game gets a 5/10, it was decent to me cause I play games with zero expectations nowadays. I lost hope in all developers after seeing multiple Triple A Titles getting released in incomplete states and it takes a year or 2 for them to make the necessary updates to make the game playable. It’s ridiculous and should be a crime of false advertising.
Also love the vids Icy, your one of the reason why I got into Gears.
The reason this game died so fast is because they constantly changed the balance of the game based on the whims of random audiences

But over the past year or so that's dropped to like maybe a 4 or 5 out of 10 at most. Especially with how the playerbase has gotten, each match feels like I'm doing a painful exercise.
Like overall I think it's a decent game but I think I'm getting burnt out on it. TC should've brought back Arcade Mode for the lulz
Weakest point in this game for me is maps. I dont like the layout or the artistic direction for the bulk of them. I think the high point for the game is customization. They nailed that imo

There's a lot more % of people in the top of the skill gap now because this game was way too easy to master. There wouldn't be as many people that play as good as they do on gears 5 on gears 4. Like not even close. The skill gap in gears 4 and gears 5 are 2 different worlds.
Exactly, The aim assist on 5 rewards shitters, They can literally swing their camera, Or shoot someone in the shoulder with snipe and get a kill, on 4, You HAVE to hit your shots, So many Gears 5 kids hop on 4 and get shit on cause they're used to aim assist carrying them, And then they're like "Wait, I have to actually aim and hit my shots?..."
I like the game itself but.... playing against pc is ass, The ways I die are BS. I feel like the ping numbers are BS too. when i see the kill cams i dont even shoot my gun even tho I did and shoulda got the kill... or you hit a point blank and get some dumb number. the way people hit wrap shots and up A happen so fast ill often get killed before they shot the gun on my screen. its frustrating af. I dont enjoy the game but I also do at the same time. Its a toxic love hate relationship. every other match feels different. either the shots aint shottin or they are XD

Nick I only see this game when I watch you play, because I'm a fan of you, not gears 5... if that says anything. I stopped playing Gears 5 in 2021
the blood spats and emots and chatter were all bad ideas. the cog laugh over and over should have a cooldown. overall, i give this game a 5. the biggest problems with games nowadays is that they don't have to be finished on the release day, because developers know they can always do an OTA update. back in the day, you put out a disc and there was no turning back. i don't want to learn how to play five different games, and how to move five different ways every three months.

I rate gears a 6.5 this is my first time playing gears online btw
30:59 i absolutely hated gears 4 campaign. it was underground for the majority of the game, and the characters were too corny. i blame it on it being a canadian studio. at least with gears 5, the environments were a lot more diverse. you had snow levels, desert levels, water levels. i didn't like how kate just went rogue and no one did anything about it because we live in the era where women are bosses and don't follow any rules, even if they're in the military, but besides that, i would never play it again. hive busters was fun, though.
I'd give gears 5 a 7 out of 10 cause the mechanics are fucked up but i still play it, and if i compare it to a lot of the shit that's out the only two better games i can think of are Doom Eternal and Elden Ring.
And i actually liked gears 4's campaign as well and personally loved gears 5's campaign, my second favourite campaign next only to the gears 2 one
I just wish this game had way more variety in terms of maps, an actual ranked system and grindind unlockables and onyx medals like gears 3,i remember grindind my ass of to unlock Classic Marcus and the Golden Hunter, hope that they learned their lesson with this one, i still trust TC,but my biggest wish is to have a way more competitive game, no more air back A shit and wrap around shots and all of that shit
Ultimate Edition was the best in terms of pure competitive experience
Also Gears 4's Escalation was amazing

Serious rating would be a 5.5-6 (for a game in general that rating isn't me comparing it to other games) my enjoyment is like 3.5
I might be a little nice on that rating but once again I'm speaking just off Gears 5 not comparing it to the other gears games. The campaign on 5 wasn't good, horde is pretty good and multiplayer I truthfully can't describe my feelings I only have like 1.2k hours on Gears 5 but like my gears multiplayer feelings goes day by day
Other than it looking great visually, the campaign was pretty trash, the open world was not a true open world. Hopefully the new unreal engine will fix that and re create the open world while maintaining the fast pace, decent cut scenes etc.. lovin the vibes btw
I’ll probably rate the game a 7 if I’m with a hommie and can laugh at the crimes committed against gears nation then my enjoyment is a 8 if I’m alone probably a 4 … average time played probably 3x a week at 3 hours

With an aimbot? Cheating is rare in gears. The only one I've seen was an aimbot on UA-cam.

Battle passes in general are getting so lame in every game.
gears 4 was so horrendously boring bro i have no idea how you say you'd play it again. like that whole campaign would've been one act in the original trilogy. the cutscenes were so unimportant too like all the important context was in the exposition so if you sprinted from point a to b you would miss the most important dialogue.
there was 0 character development too. they were all so boring like they could've all been the same character and you couldn't tell the difference
