Another solution looking for a problem.
I also have a jig for framing walls at the correct spacing. It's a 2x4 cut to the length of the gap between the studs. If I wanted to get really fancy, I could get some Ridge tie brackets or something similar and attach them to the end of the 2x4 and have pretty much the same thing, but it would only cost about $8 for the whole thing.
The big problem with this is that you still need to mark all your stud spacing because if you don't transfer them to the top place, you could end up with your entire wall being off. Not to mention if you have a door or window in your wall you need to properly space that and plan your stud spacing.
That tool will be great for the kids that can’t Read a tape but it is kinda cool
Neat little time saver
I’m getting one. 😊
A scrap 14 1/2 is not the same. This device lock it in at 16 oc, where you would need to hold the stud firmly to prevent shifting, though being a 16th or 8th off isn’t a big deal in rough work. Yet it would need to be laid out ahead of time or else the consecutive ones will be compounded.
With this device, there’s no marking or measuring save for the first stud. A 14 1/2 scrap can’t be used for the first either.
I just discovered this jig so I couldn’t say how effective it is in the field. Yet a similar device could be made with scraps instead of just using a 14 1/2 block.
Stick an 80 cent bracket on each end and problem solved. I have a feeling this is a homeowner gimmick and anyone showing up to a job site with one of these would get laughed off the lot.
The jig does have a feature that accounts for the first stud. You align the end with the notch on the top (just where it slopes up) then you land on the 48"
That’s a good point! You can install the second stud that way first, and then install the first one…thanks for the tip!
lays tape out and every stud is off center cause you didn't make first one 15 and quarter and start from there
If you had a production shed facility and had 2 guys on a table on opposite ends knocking out walls this would be awesome … this would be great for exact 16 oc .
NO FAKIN WAY M8 UR A GOD AMONGST MERE MORTALS

Creating a solution for a problem that doesn't exist.
Someone will get rich off of it. I'm not mad at them. Good for them.
YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE SAYING, IF THERE ARE PROBLEMS BECAUSE NOT EVERYONE FOLLOWS THE MEASUREMENTS, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO BEGIN AS ASSISTANTS TO A LICENSED TEACHER AND WHO AFTER A LITTLE TIME BELIEVE THEY ARE CAPABLE OF PERFORMING "WORKS" WITHOUT BEING REALLY READY FOR WAR, CAN BUY THEM BETTER TOOLS, BUT THOSE "BUILDERS" HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THEY STAND.
If you can't read a tape and mark 16 inches you probably shouldn't be a carpenter or an apprentice.
I guarantee a real carpenter can lay out and build a wall faster WITHOUT that tool than with it.
And I'm a carpenter...
Not a bad tool old school people going to hate it .
As an old school guy, I found it wonky, but I think it has its uses.
@ 4:41 he explains the problem with device.
😂he sure did lol
Great idea for a DIYer, but $70 more than I'd pay
That’s looks like it will hold the rafter in place while you nail it.
How many countries apart from USA still use imperial measurement ?.. I thought stud spacing in UK was 450mm or 600mm centres, correct me if i am wrong.
Imperial is often used in framing in Canada also, we don’t understand the mm stuff on this side of the pond LOL
@@MyDIYAdventures Each to their own my friend, The same result is achieved no matter what unit of measurement 😁
Thats nice, but I'd rather just use the $20 tape measure and lay out the marks accordingly. My only question would be how does this tool acount for rough openings of windows and doors? Laying out your jack stud, king stud and cripples?
It doesn’t🤷♂️
You could make something very similar and just as effective with scraps instead of paying $90 for that, lol.
Fair point!
3D print that shit, pennies in filament. The printer costs but you can make all kinds of cool stuff that makes them well worth it.
I'm curious why you already have nail holes, every 16 inches on the top plate?
This was the second take, the first had poor camera operation…you’re the first to say something about it LOL
@@MyDIYAdventures Lol, I'm weird like that. Looks like a cool tool, but I can't see needing one, especially for that price. Thanks for the video, though.
why not cut a 2by4 for a spacer
Right there In the end he just told u the defect on the tool lol 😂 for 90 bucks doesn’t give you the 48 in when you need to separate the seams on drywall lol $24.99 a good price for this tool
very good for nonprofessionals which means 99% of you I wish I had it when I was doing my own projects fcking hate measuring tapes I got mine for 60 bucks just in case something else pops up.
What's wrong with a 14 1/2" 2X4? Faster and WAY cheaper.
You’re not wrong
This jig also helps the stud be flush. Only additional benefit I see
working alone doing falters I'd nail cleat on bottom that gave me my eve and 14 and half inch spacers that I nailed into top plate ,slam the next rafter into that and gun it into the spacers, no angle nailing ,no tape measure
I keep coming back here, at least I think it is the same place, to see if you have responded to my comment. Are you removing it without?
I don’t ever remove any comments🤷♂️
Do they sell a fanny pack holster for it?
No, it comes with a sling.
Save money and make your own with some wood scraps
I'm always do with scrap of 2x4s. But that's not what I'm talking about. Even with such tools, any helper will always make mistakes. in short, it's useless. And very expensive. and it takes up space in the truck...
🧐🤔The fact that this tool is out says a lot, you contractors and construction workers 😜 are funny 😂😂😂some of you that are talking down on this 😂😂 probably have one or something similar to this tool! 😂😂it seems that whomever came up with this template was in the same mindset your in now! Some days you wish you had a tool that could speed up the process without losing efficiency! Regardless of plumbing, windows, and or doors! If code says 16" on center, well I would test this tools theory! Knowing that also whatever corner you start at the opposite end is going to need to be compensated for final completion of that wall, thats without any variables, meaning windows or doors.
This tool seem to provide accurate layout for a perfectly framed WALL again without any variables; plus if you contractors and construction workers are seasoned and not green your going to know off rip how to use this tool to your advantage!
I will say this evolution is a real thing😂 you guys stop being scared if this tool helps and works stop hating! And no😂 im not for this tool 😂😂
You can make that thing pretty easily
Maybe you can, but I don’t have the means to cast aluminum in my shop LOL
@@MyDIYAdventures you can make a template out of wood. But my main point is you don't know to adjust the first stud and just put it on and start your walls won't match up and break even on 48 and 92 inches with siding or plywood
That is not 16” oc. At least you caught it though. You have to start from 15 1/4”.
Here’s an update on how to resolve that issue

95USD is a bit much for such a simple to replace by a tape measure tool
Too Bad it over $100. Cause at 49.99 I would probably buy one. I’ll just stick to my tape measure at that price
Point.
$50 on Amazon for this exact one. Good deal?
The downside to this tool is you can't Frame both sides at the same time like when framing a deck.
Use two?🤷♂️
They cost $90.00 each so logically I would rather use a $20.00 tape measure each time. If you don't know how to place studs 16 on center watch a UA-cam video or get a helper with experience
Bingo👍
You can get two of these and space them.
Ha! .. Does it come with it's own carrying case? , I want mine personally engraved so as not to confuse it with other framers on the job . Does it come at 19.2 on center ? or the seldom used and dreaded 13.71 on center ? . If someone showed up on my job with that gadget . I'd throw it off the deck , Don't want anyone tripping over it .. That aluminum could have been better used in the manufacturing of beer cans . Confusedus once said " There is a time to jig and there is a time to not " Tis the time not
But how do you really feel?😂
LOL . I feel great.
@@MyDIYAdventures I was wondering about it's flight characteristics when I wing it into a lake . Hey throw some offshore and create an artificial reef . I have always believed that out of bad ideas can spark good ideas . Peace
Send me one
I don’t have any to send, but if you want to purchase one, the promo code should work!
I'm going to make one last attempt (I've tried several times) only because you did supply me with an email address so I am forced to believe that you would look at my message when I send it. I got back at least two messages that said the email address was not working. Nothing I post here with a link, including my email address, stays. I don't know if it is an AI thing or if because you have something in your settings which restricts the action. Maybe my messages are going into your spam folder. It's rather frustrating sense, as I said, you did answer me with an email address.
I emailed you back
@@MyDIYAdventuresDon’t you love the people that think you are on UA-cam just for them and only for them?😂😂😂
Just saw this online for $90 lol I don't think it's that special and if you're a DIY'er that seems a little steep tool lol $90 for a tool that your square n tape already do?! I'm good... but I don't wanna be a negative Nelly, it looks like might help some folk, just not for me
Agreed
😂
To slow tape measure and speed square
Excellent tool for the DIYer. Definitely will be getting 1. And for $90.00 saves me from having to deal w/a NO-SHOW contractor or an Illegal. AMERICA FIRST
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍👍
That’s cold 🤣 but it’s all good if you can do it yourself no need to hire illegals if you don’t need them , I here them for when I don’t want to break my back and can afford to pay and sit back and enjoy a cold one😅 cheers bud and yes America first 🇺🇸
Bring that to a jobsite and you won't get hired again.
yeah cuz when I come in and try to hang grab bars on studs later, I got one that's on 16, and snother one on 14 because people can't measure. That's always fun. This is a quick guaranteed way to get 16s. Is it for everyone? No. But don't knock it because you wouldn't use it.
@@Chris.Rhodes Um, a 14 1/2" 2X4 is faster and cheaper.
@@stevet8833 Okay? I think so too. But not everyone has common sense.
You can come to my job site if this dude gets rid of you
Not mine. Learn to read and use a tape. You move that slow on my crew and I got no use for ya
Wow that’s about the most useless thing I’ve ever seen. Just lay it out in 10secs 🤦🏻♂️
Yeah, I bet you could frame a wall in 10 secs! Lol
What a Joke
Im 52, been framing about 35 years now. That thing is about useless! If you cant read a tape & layout a wall your shouldn't be on a job site. It would take forever to frame using that thing! Thats why its so damn hard to find good help anymore, no one actually wants to LEARN anything.
It's not necessarily about "can't read a tape"... It's more about saving the 15 minutes of measure and mark. Just grab the tool and a stack of pine and start nailing.
I agree with you, knowing the tape and understanding the numbers is essential for a craftsman. But this is being sold as a DIY tool.
@@AOMartialArts
I get your point & like the guy said "its not rocket science" & i dont know your level of experience with framing BUT there are few places on a house where you can just drop that down & run with it. When you consider placement of all the doors, windows & channels that are in most walls thing like this become more of a hassle than a help. But hey, make something no body needs & everyone wants it!
I keep jumping out of here and coming back and the only one of my comments I see is the one you responded to before. Can you give me a working email address so I can send you one?
This one is still here. I don't know what was wrong with the ones before.
Mydiyad@yahoo.com
I got a return mail message. Seems like that address isn't working. I'll try again.@@MyDIYAdventures
