I have been doing critical care with the runt of an eight kitten litter. Momma didnt have enough milk, kicked him away when he was 4 weeks old. He weighed only 4.9 ounce when I brought him in at 4 weeks~! He will be eight weeks old in two days and weighs 13 ounces. I have almost lost him twice. He's had digestive issues. I just don't want to stick him on any commercial food. I want to give his body the best I can. He's become such a sweetheart, such a treasure. This video laid it out, so clearly, thank you so much for taking the time to do this. I so appreciate this! ❤
I never comment but I have to say this video is amazing. So much clear and concise information with great references and tips. Thank you for making what may seem like an overwhelming approach to feeding a lot simpler.
😂 i started searching "calming sounds for depressed cats" and ended up in a rabbit hole of understanding my new kitten and i realised I've been doing so many mistakes Now i am here ❤
YES! Thank you so much, I was waiting on this one since I started my kitties on a raw diet 3 months ago and was not sure about the ratios of wholefood I should provide. I love your videos, they've helped me a lot with the process od meal prep.
0:10 Thank you so much, when I looked up when can kittens be on a raw food diet I read it should be 20 weeks I was genuinely confused since I was thinking then how the Hell do their wild cousins feed their kittens of they should be raw meat when their 20 weeks old, WE NEED more UA-cam channels like this, sine this video and every other video is so informative. 7:49 this can also be obtained by walking your kitten when harness and leash training your kitten as well too but it wouldn't hurt to feed them vitamin D though. 12:07 kittens drinking less water isn't a cause of alarm because of how they adapted on getting all their moisture from their prey in fact if your kitten is drinking a lot of water that’s when you take them to the vet to rule out anything medical
This is by far the BEST kitten/cat raw food diet channel I have ever found! Has a nutrient reference guide been put together, yet? I would love that information. Your voice is so pleasant to listen to as well! Thank you so much for all of your uploads.. they are easy to follow and understand. 💕💕
Great info thanks for sharing! I'll say from experience that finding RMBs that provide a good Ca:P ratio is really hard. I've struggled without eggshell powder to reach adequate levels and ratios of Calcium for my cat, same for my dog as Phosphorus is pretty abundant in other meat products. That being said adding eggshell powder is really easy and can be homemade. But like you said you really need to plug all your foods into a spreadsheet with NRC requirements to really see whats going on and how those levels change with different ingredients. Formulating DIY raw for kittens and puppies is difficult so good on anyone who does the research and work to do it!
I’ve watched this video 5 times now I’m so excited because my kitty can finally come home in two weeks! He’ll be only 9 weeks old Edit: I’ve definitely watched it more than 10 times now! He’s coming tomorrow and I’m nervous but ready!
Omg this channel is amazing....finally found out how much do i need to feed my little tiger...he's 6m old and on a wet diet from the beginning, now combined with raw...i use the brand Ontario for his can food, from raw it's: chicken, pork, beef, chicken hearts and gizzard. I didn't know i can feed him with bones...so i guess i need some shopping😁
Thank you for the informative video. I am going to try raw again. My cats (except the new kitten) hated it. I suspect it was because I bought it from a supplier who pulverised the entire meal into mince and it was all mixed. Possibly one ingredient in there they didn't enjoy and therefore didn't eat the entire dish. I eventually switched back to kibble as the one cat hardly ever ate and became incredibly thin from starvation.
Thank you for providing such an amazing quality content. Your videos are so well-made, aesthetically pleasing, so clear and informative. Please keep them coming :)
Would it be sufficient to feed cats whole prey items like mice, rats, and birds? Would they have to be pre-killed or can they be frozen thawed from a breeder (and of course thaw them out before feeding). I'm asking because supply is relatively easy to find for mice and rats from reputable breeders.
I only work half the week which is part of why I’m so interested. I want my kitty to have variety. I do a mix of kibble, wet, and drag food. I can’t wait till I’m stable and financially able to really think abt what I put on the plate
I appreciate the video, I share the food with my kitten since I also have been eating raw meat daily for over 2.5 years now. Great to see people who still realize and promote healthy and natural ways to keep your pet healthy.
I'm a student so I don't know if I can instantly afford this for my baby, but I want to give her as much verity as she needs to be happy and make sure she has everything she needs, so I use the things you list to inspire how I'll feed her
my kitten didn't drink at all after changing to raw X'D I usually add water too since I give her powdered multivitamin and probiotic that needs to be watered first. but she peed normally so I didn't worry. every time I put her water bowl she just gonna play with it, knock it over and make a mess HHHH
i have 3 months old maine coon kitten,i started raw feeding slowly, im mixing high quality wet food and chicken brest %50-50% at my kitchen blender ( to make him adjust slowly to raw ) .After 2-3 days later i'll add chicken neck but do i have to put necks in the blender too or do i have to cut the whole neck to 3-4 pieces and put the pieces. im not sure he can chew it but i also afraid that if i use kitchen blender does little bone pieces hurt him? whats the right way to adjust them to the chicken neck? Thanks .Amazing channel btw.
I love this channel I haven’t gotten my kitten yet but I’m learning so much here 🥰 Q: how long does the raw food last after being thawed out in fridge ? Thank you 🙏 for what you do here stay awesome 😎
If you get fresh ingredients and make the food right away and batch freeze it, then a one cup container can be in the fridge for about three days as you spoon out portions. After that it’s off and shouldn’t be fed to your cat. If you were not able to make the raw food Right away when you get the ingredients, watch out. Always be very careful about the freshness of raw food. It’s easy for your cat to get really sick from it otherwise.
Great video. I'm new to the "cat world". Starting my 2 kittens on RAW diet soon. I am looking for recommendations on vitamin supplements; Vitamin B, etc. What are good brands and where I could get them, ty.
I love your channel! I can't feed my dog raw until I have more storage space but you make it so much easier to understand what I will need to feed for a balanced diet. Definitely subscribing! Thank you for making everything clear and easy to understand
Love your videos, they have been very helpful! I have been feeding my cat raw food for a few months now. He loves it, but eats it too fast and winds up throwing it back up. Do you have any tips on how to slow him him down? He is 11 years old, and in good health.
Although I encourage raw food for cats, I reject complexity. Cats in the wild eat much simpler. I think these supplements are a business similar to the dry food business
My kitten is 6 weeks old and she was a rescue who started eating solids and dry food from the shelter at just 4 weeks old. I started learning about the raw diet cause I love her so much and want her to grow up healthy and strong. She absolutely LOVES her raw food. Whenever I give her a bit of canned cat food she always leaves bits behind but with this raw meat she licks every drop off her bowl! It’s so amazing to see how much better her stool is forming and how much energy she has. To make sure she’s getting all the nutrition she needs I use the raw meat as a supplement for now and still feed her canned, but I hope with more research I can switch her completely!
You are amazing!! Should I keep giving my kitten as much food as he can eat until 12 months? After the 12 months that's when the gradual percentage of food / body weight should be reduced? That section was a bit unclear. Thanks!!!
My Bengal was a rescue, she was about 2 years old when she came to us. She had been on a kibble diet, we introduced her to wet food but she was really picky. Right now she gets some baked chicken two times a day but she still wants kibbles. I would like to try to switch her but I am not sure how her system will handle it
Hi! This was an extremely informative video and I'm so thankful I came across it! My question is, can these meats and bones be stored in a deep freeze? My family hunts and we can store a lot of this goodness for our animals, but I'm unsure if the freezer would eliminate anything?
Thanks very much for sharing and it’s really helpful!! My kitten is not tolerant of blue mussels. Is there anyway that I can make up manganese in his diet? ♥️♥️
Thank you for the great work put into this! How long do theese organs keep fresh in the fridge? I''m afraid they ll go bad and I don't think I can shop every 2 days.
Also, you mentioned to start with one meat first to see how they adjust, how long do I do that for? How will my kitten get the daily nutrients if I am only initially giving chicken for wxample? Thanks
Your videos have helped so much. I am a new cat mom to two 1yr olds. I am switching them to raw and want to make sure they get everything they need. Question: you mention heart should alway be included in the muscle meat. What percentage of the muscle meat should be heart?
I just visited our local Asian market today. Unfortunately its a small area so they dont have many obscure cuts or organs, but they do have some goat meat and whole duck. They also have pork blood, I think with added sodium so i didn't buy it this time, but does anyone know if this would be a good thing to add? And maybe what nutrients this would cover? I did get some green lipped muscles and will likely get goat or duck in the future for the protein variety, but I'm still searching just to tie up a few gaps like a second secreting organ mainly. But I think I know where to go for the rest, just made sure the most convenient places didn't have them. I was also curious if anyone else had noticed alot of places selling gizzard and heart in the same package and how the split might be. The ones I see they're not whole enough to really tell between the 2, but it seems like mainly gizzard even though its advertised to have heart in it to.
Hi. How do I split my prep meal once it’s thawed for the first meal of the day? Do I put the container with the reamaining meal back in the freezer, body of the fridge or room temp? Thanks
Can I alternate between a diet similar to this, and the rolls of the premade raw feed at pet supplies plus? Only because I have rougher weeks sometimes with my budget
So my kitten is about 7-8 weeks and is just now eating Sheba garden medley solely with no supplement milk added when should I start sneaking in chicken n other meats? I feel like it’s too early since she still getting used to chewing bigger pieces of meat but I also feel I’m withholding some nutrients by not giving the kitten milk. Please help
Hi! I have so many doubts on the amounts of the missing nutrients needed for a growing kitten :( Everything else that is not muscle, bone, liver, and organ. Like the amount per day for zinc, manganese, epa/dha, vit E, iodine, vit D. How much of each ingredient is needed daily for a kitten? :( I can’t figure out a precise number with online research, your videos or your cheat sheet. Please help ❤️😭
so i have a few questions, if i cant source any of those mussels can i use a manganese supplement? and how much? my kitten is 6-8months old, how many times a week should i give oyster?
How do you go about getting something like chicken spleen or kidney if you don't have access to international or other markets? I don't live near a big city, just a small town.
i’m adopting a kitten in 2 weeks and i’ve already done research for about a month. i couldn’t find a lot of info on raw feeding kittens in particular and i’m afraid of causing deficiencies. so right now i’m debating on maybe just feeding a high quality wet food
I have the same thought! I think with kittens being young and curious as long as we can consistently expose them to a variety of raw food in small amount while still putting them on wet food can still help them to transition fully to raw once we feel ready! Just enjoy bonding with the kitten for now because they grow fast!
What I do with my kitten is basically this, I feed her high-quality wet food, and a couple of times per week I give her a raw meal (chicken liver, hearts, breasts). That way I don’t have to be meticulous about the raw food nutrient requirements because I know she’s getting all she needs from the store-bought wet food. But I’m still happy coz she gets to eat raw meals almost every day as well which shows in how beautiful her coat is. The best of both worlds, I guess:)
Hi, I just got my cat 3 days ago, he’s only 9 weeks old. He was eating royal canin mother and baby dry food but I switched his diet to raw food (he’s only been eating raw for 2 days). However, I just saw he’s been scratching himself around he’s face so I’m afraid he got an allergy from it. I feel really bad. I gave him mostly chicken to the exception of lamb heart since I couldn’t find chicken hearts. I don’t know if I just switch him back to his dry food or what should I do? Has this happened to anyone! ?
@@meileflood6167 Hi Maile, I took him to the vet and they said the itching was nothing to worry about. I did tell them about the raw diet though and they were EXTREMELY against it, I even left the clinic feeling like a bad cat mom so I started feeding him his usual dry food but if I'm honest this only made things worse, he not only hates the dry food, but his poop smells really bad and sometimes he has diarrhea. This NEVER happened when I fed him raw. Now, I am in this limbo where I feel that a raw diet is better, but I am too scared to undernourish him if I prepare the raw food myself.
@@dipabara Just do what you think is best. It's like parenting a young child. If your kid ate what you cooked for them and was fine, but switching to whatever foods the doctor recommended gave them diarrhea, would you still give your child the food the doctor recommended? After all, the vet doesn't live at your place and doesn't know your cat as well as you. If your cat was doing better on the raw diet you were feeding it, then I say keep going.
Hi, If I follow the 55% muscle meat 25% muscular organ 8% secreting organ 4% liver 8% raw meaty bone If I were to substitute the bone for bone powder what would I increase to fill the missing 8%? The muscle meat? Any suggestions? I can’t find chicken neck in any butchers even Asian makerts I’m looking online but I have to buy minimum of 5kg and I don’t have the freezer space as one now so would it be ok to use raw bone powder instead?
1:10 THAT'S MY KITTEN!!!! 100%.. the way i see it , i don't want my cat to eat raw food all day..... i want to add raw food to wet food and dry food in one bowl ! to have a variety
Hi! My kittens are 10 weeks old and they still have baby teeth. They happily eat raw but only blended stuff. I'd like to start serving them chunks of meat and meaty bones. When should I start giving them chunks? How to smoothly transition from blended food?
Hi love ur videos. I have been reading articles about fish oil may cause vitamin e deficiency, therefore it’s necessary to add vitamin e oil and fish oil together, but some of them says vitamin e oil should be taking two hours apart from fish oil, what do u think?
From what I know you just need to add more vitamin E when you add in more Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFA's) to the diet. As a general rule for every gram of PUFAs you need to add 10IUs of vitamin E of EXTRA* vitamin E on top of what the Recommended Allowance (RA set by NRC) is for your pet.
Don't grind or blend the meat or bones. Use them whole as she suggests. Cats need them for good dental health. Cats are born to eat meat and bones raw, not cooked or ground. Save the Vitamix for a good smoothie for yourself!
@@jodiwerhanowicz7383 I don’t do it. I give her chicken wings. I just cut one up in 3 pieces as she won’t eat a whole wing, it’s just too big for her. She eats 1/3 of the wing every few days. She also loves raw shrimp and sea scallops and salmon. All either pasture raised or wild caught. She’s doing great.
I package my cat's food into daily portions and froze them. Every night I put out the frozen food on a dish. Every morning it was gone. I never get up in the night to see if she eats it frozen or waits until it thaws.
Do kittens/cats need grain? I understand that a lot of foods for both dogs and cats have grain free, and working in a vet office, they say grain free is linked to heart disease (at least in dogs), what’s the story with cats? I would love to know! I am writing a diet table for my future kitten!
My kitten is 3 months old . She is already having chicken mince raw . Should I start adding liver and chicken wings ( pulverised) . How many grams of liver and heart chicken is ideal now
i want to feed my kitten raw but i feel overwhelmed where do i start.? im ok with giving fish but how do i know if its gettin all the right vitamins and oils?
My friends main coon went through a MASSIVE growth spurt at 5 years old. Was shocking TBH. Having a hard time switching my cats. Would be nice if they were as excited as my dogs are about it.
People need to stop sleeping on this channel. Its helped me so much!
Right!
Aw *(^__^)*
OMG, I feel like I'd have to quit my job to be able to work this out.
Lol same
😂😂

Why do you have a cat if you don't have time to properly take care of it?
this video has PERFECT timing, I'm adopting a kitten on wednesday and I have always wanted to feed raw!
Congrats!!
How is your kitten doing on raw food?
I disagree. I feel like it was really confusing and she didn't get specific enough
😂 i started searching "calming sounds for depressed cats" and ended up in a rabbit hole of understanding my new kitten and i realised I've been doing so many mistakes
Now i am here

YES! Thank you so much, I was waiting on this one since I started my kitties on a raw diet 3 months ago and was not sure about the ratios of wholefood I should provide. I love your videos, they've helped me a lot with the process od meal prep.
I'm glad they're helpful for you and your kitten!
i’m currently haven’t trouble figuring out ratios for whole foods at the moment 😭
This channel is sooo underrated. Easy to listen to, easy to follow, nice visuals. But most importantly informative!
Yesss😻 we need more cat video🥺✨
More to come for sure!

Is Manganese found in anything other than mussels? Is there an alternative? Thanks for such helpful info!
Getting a kitten on Thanksgiving and I already have my pup on raw. I'm excited to get the lil tiger on jt as well
Amazing video thank you so much! 🙏 Did you ever create the guide you mentioned in the video?
do you buy the meats from the everyday supermarket? Do you freeze the meat and then on the day you feed them you thaw the meat before slicing

All depends on what it is you're adding!
Still waiting for the reference guide 😍. Please do update when it is available...
Workin' on it! And many other helpful things - we will definitely let everyone know when they're ready
Be good to have a solid list at the end of video vs going thru the video to get % rate and name of food

ALMOST haha, we will announce a lot of things next month ^___^
Hi. How do I split my prep meal once it’s thawed for the first meal of the day? Do I put the container with the reamaining meal back in the freezer, body of the fridge or room temp? Thanks
How should we divvy a whole prey animal?
Like the skin, ligaments, feet, paws, etc
What is a risk of parasites with this diet? Do you have to deworm the cat regularly?
Not sure if I will get a cat but if I do will for sure feed raw.
Please help
Hi! I have so many doubts on the amounts of the missing nutrients needed for a growing kitten :(
Everything else that is not muscle, bone, liver, and organ. Like the amount per day for zinc, manganese, epa/dha, vit E, iodine, vit D. How much of each ingredient is needed daily for a kitten? :( I can’t figure out a precise number with online research, your videos or your cheat sheet. Please help ❤️😭
SAME HERE
so i have a few questions, if i cant source any of those mussels can i use a manganese supplement? and how much? my kitten is 6-8months old, how many times a week should i give oyster?
and if the kitten needs to start on single proteins how will 8:45 be achieved? i cant find all pork meat and organs
@@samf2812 i was wondering the same thing. also, if you should only give one source of protein in the beginning, how will the meals be balanced?
How do you go about getting something like chicken spleen or kidney if you don't have access to international or other markets? I don't live near a big city, just a small town.
Our kitties love snacking on freeze dried duck hearts.
i’m adopting a kitten in 2 weeks and i’ve already done research for about a month. i couldn’t find a lot of info on raw feeding kittens in particular and i’m afraid of causing deficiencies. so right now i’m debating on maybe just feeding a high quality wet food
Hi Diana, how is your kitten doing now? Did you go back to dry food? Getting a kitten on Saturday and wanted to start him on raw food but worried 🙈
@@dipabara try wet food
@@dipabara vets hate raw food for cats
@@dipabara Just do what you think is best. It's like parenting a young child. If your kid ate what you cooked for them and was fine, but switching to whatever foods the doctor recommended gave them diarrhea, would you still give your child the food the doctor recommended? After all, the vet doesn't live at your place and doesn't know your cat as well as you. If your cat was doing better on the raw diet you were feeding it, then I say keep going.
Hi, If I follow the
55% muscle meat
25% muscular organ
8% secreting organ
4% liver
8% raw meaty bone
If I were to substitute the bone for bone powder what would I increase to fill the missing 8%? The muscle meat? Any suggestions? I can’t find chicken neck in any butchers even Asian makerts I’m looking online but I have to buy minimum of 5kg and I don’t have the freezer space as one now so would it be ok to use raw bone powder instead?
1:10 THAT'S MY KITTEN!!!! 100%.. the way i see it , i don't want my cat to eat raw food all day..... i want to add raw food to wet food and dry food in one bowl ! to have a variety
Mix wet food and raw food, yes. But if u have high quality wet food, u don’t need kibble. Kibble’s sh*t
@@Tantan-1313 oh thank u:) thats what I thought
How do you blend bones in a blender? I have the Vitamix, but am not sure it will blend bones.
What bones should I feed my kitten he almost chocked on the chicken neck yesterday
I didn't find a section of how to prepare the meat? Do we freeze it and defreeze it and then give it, or we can give it straight away?
I package my cat's food into daily portions and froze them. Every night I put out the frozen food on a dish. Every morning it was gone. I never get up in the night to see if she eats it frozen or waits until it thaws.
Do kittens/cats need grain? I understand that a lot of foods for both dogs and cats have grain free, and working in a vet office, they say grain free is linked to heart disease (at least in dogs), what’s the story with cats? I would love to know! I am writing a diet table for my future kitten!
What is your view on ready made raw meat? Like the brand BARF for example.
Muscle meat:
- Pork Loin
- Chicken Breast
- Lean Ground Beef
Muscular organ:
- Heart
- Lungs
- Gizzard
- Tongue
Please provide advice on feeding raw pig ears. My kittens love it but im not sure how much to feed them as part of their diet.
What's the consensus on raw eggs? Can they eat them? I see them in your bowls and reading up on Salmonella and E.Coli, I don't know anymore.
Can I give my dog salmon every single feeding? If so how much should I give him? He is a 1 year old 65 pound German Shephard.
Most people recommend feeding fish 1-3 times a week depending on your dogs size, so less for small dogs and more for big dogs
My friends main coon went through a MASSIVE growth spurt at 5 years old. Was shocking TBH.
Having a hard time switching my cats. Would be nice if they were as excited as my dogs are about it.
