Shovel of Hope is a classic game story, Plague of Shadows is a cute romance story from the view of a villain, but Specter of Torment is just plain depressing. He had to forfeit his own life to save the child of his own friend
That's the point. Shovel of Hope was just the original story, while the others took different spins on the world of Shovel Knight. POS is a romance, SOT is a noir prequel, and KOC answers a question. That's just how it works.
This was honestly my favorite campaign, Shovel of Hope was great of course because it was the base game. Plague of Shadows was also great with a huge focus on story and characters but it didn't change that much (aside from a new fighting style, HUB, and final boss). However, this DLC changes so much and it is so different with a super fun and fluid fighting style and new mini-bosses, enemies, levels, and they even gave all the bosses new attacks and phases.
King of cards was my favorite campaigne after I beat it earlier this year. But when I came back to this one for new game plus, it had much more of an effect on me. I love the choice you have for the stages, I love the original tracks, that boss in the lich yard is insane.i also like how they rework the pre existing areas, like having the lost city start above ground, and you're constantly going in and out of ground. It feels even more like mega man than before, as those stages had a lot of locatipn change too, especially mega man x. I really like king of cards too, the more cozy atmosphere, especially the joustus areas you go to in each section of the game. I just prefer the intensity of sot. I will say though, I loved the new area in koc, the troupple area being it's own set of levels. And the bosses are great too 😊
Fun Fact: They planned ahead well with king knight's battle. Notice how he didn't say "Ayo join us" he said "Do your work you lazy boi", which corresponds with king of cards [Which is how he's there to begin with]
When I fought these guys as Specter Knight, I was surprised they had new moves. (More like old moves they didn’t use on Shovel Knight or Plague Knight)
Gavin EOS there's no reason to suspect it's the final boss, it doesn't tell you it's name, so really you're the one spoiling it, by saying it's the final boss.

It’s like the trailer for Gunpoint, it has scenes from the final level in it, but nobody complained because they didn’t exactly say “Hey guys! This is a spoiler!”, y’know? I thought that the final boss here was cool, but also super easy. The fight with the Enchantress right beforehand was way harder for me. But that actually works with the plot here. The whole idea is that Spectre Knight has a hard time standing up to the Enchantress to break free of service, which is why he has to do missions for her. [Spoilers ahead.] Reize, on the other hand, is supposed to be weaker than Spectre Knight, which is why the Enchantress wanted Spectre Knight's service and not his. I don't know why the Enchantress didn't make Donovan submit to eternal service to begin with when she made him a Lich. Instead she gave him an out if he recruited other knights for her, then took it away using the Reize manipulation after he failed to recruit Black Knight and Phantom Striker. Maybe she was afraid Donovan would choose death if the alternative was unending undead service, or maybe she thought the illusion of hope would motivate him.

I’m so good most of the Bosses didn’t even get to pull of any of their new moves, I mean I know they have a random order but they didn’t even have time to pull out the big guns
what thats impossible when the boss gets to a certain point of health they get away from specter to pull out the big guns. even if you do attack them while they are in that phase, it won’t stop them.

This was a time when the knights were untamed. Untamed people are at their prime. Most stories with tamed strong people have most of their strenghts gone.

There’s no strategy on phantom striker - just more HP. I chose it as the 1st boss and am having trouble.
He was my second boss after king knight. One of the easiest bosses in this campaign.
