I’ve been singing his praises since the late 80’s. I saw him way back in the day doing a guitar clinic at Guitar Center in Hollywood. I literally went just because I was invited. I was a rock/metal guitarist and could care less about the “Stray Cats”. I walked out of there a HUGE fan and speak his name among the greats when I can. He taught me TONS that night...including “great” comes in many different packages! 👍
There are no greatest, just ignore all of that garbage. And the experts have no criteria at all so they are totally useless. Just tune those Bozos out. There's nobody who knows just because they play. Those are arrogant boobs. Lay down some criteria and then have a conversation around that, otherwise it's a complete waste of time. No criteria, not a worthwhile discussion to have. Nobody should even have anything resembling the same top ten unless it's about at what specifically. It's all just mindless poop.
Because he doesn’t play the “right” kind of rock n roll, Rolling Stone and the other derelict music mags only go for stoner rock, bubblegum pop rock, metal of any kind, and then Stevie Ray always manages to slip in
I’ve had one of these in the green sparkle for almost ten years now and it’s still easily one of the best guitars I’ve ever had. Just killer instruments.
Brian is the perfect example of a guitarist that would way rather be playing than talking. Not like so many others that will sit and talk non stop 'about' playing guitar.
I've been waiting for the longest for gretsch to make a hot rod in that finish since the Brian Setzer gretsch guitar give away, and I'm glad to hear that it is a standard finish
If i were rich, i would take some serious lessons from this guy. I would learn all of my favorite songs, as a way to learn how to write my own music 👍🎸
I don't know about "no control knobs." There's a (master) volume on there, obviously. In fact, like any volume control with passive electronics, you can use it to modify the tone a bit. If you dial it down to "9", you will preferentially cut the high end, so it can be used a bit like a tone pot. I have one of the original series of Hot Rods (before they moved the switch to Brian's preferred location, etc.), and that's what I do on it.
***** That's the one! I had the purple one. The three differences between the original series and the modified ones were: *TV Jones replaced the standard Filtertrons. *Sperzels replaced the Gretsch-brand tuners with kidney buttons. *Pickup selector switch moved to the higher position where the tone switch would normally go. (This was actually the biggest reason I went with the original series. I know Brian likes the switch there, but I think it looks ugly there, and I have a 6120 as well with the selector in the original position because it has the tone switch. They're reversed on Brian's signature 6120.) The whole series had the plate on the headstock though. It's only these new ones that lost it. In fact, Brian's personal green ones (He had two of them) that were made for him before this production series both had the plate. The Sperzels are chrome now rather than the stainless steel (duller shine) they always had before.
I think brian is one of the best players of alltime. But is it just me that his signature doesn't sound like a 6120 anymore? I'm clearly not a fan of his signature pickups.
Setzer is my hero...nevertheless Hot Rod is a shit;I bought one ,played it on tour(3 countries, one month) alongside with my old faithful 6120 and I must say,it´s sooo badly made...playwood daylight robbery.
alex tworkowski REMOVE YOURSELF ABSOLUTE TRASH - DO NOT insult MY man. He is a guitar genius above other things. Nothing he has ever done has sucked. Trash.
Not sure why he's never mentioned when "experts" discuss greatest guitarists of all time. He's easily in the top 10.

That 6120 and 59 Bassman head …. So good
I saw his Christmas show twice and it was just spectacular. He is an unbelievable musician and showman.
I can just sit and watch him play that guitar all day! Just mesmerizing!
Brian is one of the coolest cats playing guitar, period!
(Even the green ones! 😉)
Brian saved Gretsch. Let's be honest.
In the hands of a true master.
The GREAT Brian Setzer!
This guy is a top of the class player & the Hotrod 6120’s are beautiful to play 👍
This cat is rocking that guitar!
Love ya Brian! You're frickin awesome.
I'm looking around for a quality hollow body guitar.
This is helping me with my decision making...

Absolutely. SRV was that way. Speak softly & carry a big....well, you know....😊

." ...that's how it sounds when it's green " .........lol love Brian .....cheers from Mark
Damn I love the Gretsch guitars...especially that green one (and the White Falcon of course). Nice demo, Brian Setzer!
Der Typ ist der Hammer ich spiele auch Gretsch der Sound ist schön
I love the licks in that song........."Nothing Is a Sure Thing".
If i were rich, i would take some serious lessons from this guy. I would learn all of my favorite songs, as a way to learn how to write my own music 👍🎸
Brian you are the best🎸👍
What a genius and the reason I own a gretsch
That's great quality, and a great sounding guitar.
THAT GREEN!! AMAZING!!
Love the slightly dirty sound on this one. Was he playing an actual song here or just riffing on the standard rock 'n' roll structure?
The green is hot !
He's the greatest of it all !
That's my dream guitar...only in purple. It sucks the purple ain't around anymore.
0:25 is my favourite!
I have one, added a clear guard.
Long Live Brain!
TV jones pups if you like them but the authentic Gretsch has the Filter tron pups and there aint no denying that !!
Fred Gretsch from Queens and Brian from Suffolk County,Long Island, South Shore??Ya get it now????
That might have to make it into my collection
What is the color of the one on the right, out front to Brian's left, it looks blonde, no?
the greatest
Stray Cats are why I have tattoos
I love this one the colour the sound it's the one for me if only I could afford it
This is SO COOL. Thankyou.
@Brian Zanden...I believe he has a preference for Fender Bassman black fronts and tbh, cant argue with that
Is it ripe yet?
Check out " The Continentals" Them Long Island Guys rockin'!!
Best guitar player of all time.
He good, even great, but best ever? You gotta get out more.
@@flintdavis2 everyone’s greatest doesn’t have to be your greatest bruno

He’s so damn good
Love that green sparkle!
this is what I wish my living room looked like.
It only takes 5 seconds to feel excited

Bram Zanden It's a gretsch 1958 electromatic Western dual twin
Mes condoléances à Brian car je sais que c'était un grand ami de Jeff Beck!

to play a guitar that green, you need to be eating some lucky charms
I want one!
i agree the Hotrod is hard to beat but at over £2000 it will take some money to save up on
I want two!
made in japan??
Green
Does anyone else hate the tone of the amp he's playing thru in all of these vids?
Dilver198 really dry
I'll take "Videos that are too short" for 500, Alex.
Gretsch needs to make a cheaper version of a G5420T, with only the 3-way switch and a volume knob.
That guitar screams for a mintgreen or even yellow and black pinstripe
Wow. ✌🏼️
❤❤❤bri
Nothing is a sure thing babyy😏😏

That guitar is the same color as my Jeep...
My no1 player.
Candy Apple
No me gusto el sonido, muy heavy metal parecía, pero la Gretsch esta buenísima 👍
Fine.....now make them in lefty.
I'ts blues or rock'n roll?
Rockabilly.
Malcom Young saved this brand, actually
pas mal mais je préfère ma Gretsch de 62
I guess that’s my problem, I don’t have a green one, well then there’s that lack of talent. Ha.
Setzer is my hero...nevertheless Hot Rod is a shit;I bought one ,played it on tour(3 countries, one month) alongside with my old faithful 6120 and I must say,it´s sooo badly made...playwood daylight robbery.
That totally sucked
I suspect that our definitions of 'totally' and 'sucked' vary from yours.

Alex , get off dope . Just say no .
Sucked??? Hahaha you muppet !
You have no taste in music and no sense of humour. Go away!!!
Simply the best
Yeah, the green sounds different... more vegan.😱
