You’re easily one of the best teachers out there on drawing. Clear, easy to follow, not assuming everyone already is a fully fledged artist. And the end result looks great!
Hi Scottie... My name is Jim, a New Yorker living in Madrid (Spain). I've been watching your UA-cam videos and I must say they have helped me A LOT for Sketching human figures in my own sketches. This has always been a very difficult subject for me (Human body's overall) but your teaching method (simple but very clear) really helps to understand how to structure proportions and expressions. In this case, with the lips, it is awesome how simplified it is and easier to practice. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!! I honestly can say that you are becoming my favourite teacher on the Human body for all purposes... I will review your channel to keep practicing but another extremely difficult subject is HANDS!!! Again... thank you! You have a NEW student here... Cheers from Madrid!!!
Thanks a lot Jaime! Good to hear you find it simple to follow! I take a while to think through how I should present these so it's easy to understand so that's great feedback 😊. Yes I am still thinking about hands and how to teach them. It is coming together slowly! 🤣
I might get easier to do hand if you tried drawing the bones first and it doesn't have to look good just to be able to get the structure and gauge the length in bends...
Great video with clear and concise information, I have stubbornly pressed on drawing portraits without guidance but finally looked for help on lips and stumbled across your video! Thanks for the help!
This is a really helpful tutorial! I'm currently working on teaching myself to convey subtle expressions with the lips, so it's a very timely one as well. Thanks!
So well explained! Thanks for the tips beforehand, those really help. Going to keep practicing these. Thanks for setting me on the right track! Appreciate it.
Hello Scottie I am Detlef from Germany. I've been following your tutorials for a few months now. Especially the tutorials on drawing people inspire me and enrich my urban sketches. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills with others.
I find most of my references from Pexels.com and unsplash.com. I just searched through portraits and cropped the lips I liked. You can find lots of different faces and figures there 👍🏼 Check out my UA-cam video for more details on references: ua-cam.com/video/_alUAR9jXM0/v-deo.html
I've done a few videos on the channel with loose portrait sketching if you're interested. Getting likeness to person is a challenge but one way is to slightly exaggerate some of the main features that stand out to you.
hi Scottie, there is one part of the human figure I struggle again and again: Feeds and/or Shoes. I dont know why, but its hard to draw them in perspective. Also me drawn shoes always (!!?!) looking in the wrong direction. Can you make a tutorial about shoes? I would love to see this! Thx.

You're welcome Detlef. I'm glad to hear these tutorials have been helpful for you. All the best with your sketching!
this one inspires me to try using water color on my sketches, do you have any separate tutorial on how to apply water colors on ink sketches?
not specifically in-depth yet but I try to explain in most tutorials
Helpful tips ...we usually end up overdoing the lips n teeth eventually spioing the mouth
Where can I get reference pictures for top view, bottom view? If you know any good website please tell me.☺️ Faces and figure

How to sketch a portrait with loose sketching. Any pointers on how to get face to look close to the subject you choose.
I've done a few videos on the channel with loose portrait sketching if you're interested. Getting likeness to person is a challenge but one way is to slightly exaggerate some of the main features that stand out to you.
👍😍
hi Scottie,
there is one part of the human figure I struggle again and again: Feeds and/or Shoes. I dont know why, but its hard to draw them in perspective. Also me drawn shoes always (!!?!) looking in the wrong direction. Can you make a tutorial about shoes? I would love to see this! Thx.
hey Max, yes they can be tricky! One day I might make a video for YT but I have made a tutorial on my Patreon 'Sketching School Tier' about shoes 👍🏼
Can you please so a simple watercolour eye tutorial
Eyes, nose, mouth... Next up ears ? :D Thank you for your videos !
haha maybe one day!😊
Do you use a watercolor sketchbook?
Yes, this one is an Etchr hot press, watercolour sketchbook. I also use multimedia sketchbooks if I am only doing a light wash.
Very helpful. It´s as difficult as hands.
