The Harkles interview was Oprah’s low point - she showed herself to have zero journalistic credibility for not challenging anything they said and allowing them to get away with trashing the Royal Family while Prince Philip lay dying and the Queen was distressed. Something I remember very well about that interview was that Meghan said she was not given any help when she went into the role. We now know that is not the case, but when Harry went to say something about that, Meghan put her hand on his to shut him up. How he could trash his family like that and allow his wife to do the same to just about every family member is unconscionable

The British journalist who made the documentary spend a lot of time with Mr Markle giving him the chance to relax and explain himself. Meghan’s family had no training in how to manage the media glare they were thrust into. The Royals wanted to send them aides to help them but Meghan declined the offer saying she knew her family best. Then she left them to basically cope alone, you could even say that she appears to have set them up to fail. She didn’t even invite her mothers side of the family to her wedding and we now know they were close until she moved to Canada, then they thought she was just too busy. I don’t think she ever had any intentions of either side of her family ever going to that wedding. I’ve always questioned why her father was still not in the UK the week before the wedding!! Had he been here say a month before, relaxing, preparing, finally meeting his son-in-law to be, and away from the paparazzi he’d not have had those photos taken, he’d not have had his heart attack and he would have walked Meghan down the aisle. Meghan didn’t bring him over in a respectful timely way because she had no intentions of him being there in my opinion. How could a well brought up Prince not go to visit her father to formally ask for her hand in marriage?? That is a huge red flag right there. Meghan really can drip poison, even about her own father who did bring her up, did pay for her tuitions, did pay for meals out, did shower her with love. Something I remember very well about that interview was that Meghan said she was not given any help when she went into the role. We now know that is not the case, but when Harry went to say something about that, Meghan put her hand on his to shut him up. Oprah is an expert at interviewing, so even if she was taken off guard, she had enough know-how to steer the conversation in another direction despite what Harry and Meghan wanted to do, or at least curb rather than amplify certain comments. She also had the option of not airing it. Her words now are nonsense; she is just doing damage control for her own sake, not for any other reason.
There is no such things as "their truth"; there is THE TRUTH or falsehoods, period. Grow up OW and own your own bad choices.

My favorite interviewer was Brabara Walter's. She at least seemed to really care about both the subject and the public interest.

Doesn’t really matter as it is Meganut’s reputation which has been destroyed. That probably started when people like the Clooney’s admitted they didn’t actually know her. When people like Reece Witherspoon didn’t attend because she had no idea who Markle was. Even Serena Williams seems to have gone missing in action.

They didn't attend for Meghan Markle. They attended because it was a Royal wedding. It's Royalty that has the pull, ironically their connection to which H&M destroyed with that interview.
I think a lot of American saw that interview and were disgusted by Oprah. She lost a lot of fans when she did that interview now people dislike her ,because she did nothing to challenge their side of the story. I’ve seen her on another interview with Tony Braxton, where she was so mean, and so belligerent to her that it made me cry, so I don’t know why she let these two off on their lies.
Shame on Oprah for even being a part of something like that! I will never have anything to do with Oprah again. As far as I'm concerned she deserves all the backlash she's been getting.
How fake it was when she asked Harry "did she save you"? He hesitated and she asked again. Finally he said she saved him. He didn't say what she saved him from.

There were three in that interview, it was a bit crowded.
Certain there was a contract there. Oprah got a wedding invite & they got an exclusive interview.Remember how Oprah started courting MM' s mom prior to the wedding? Doria was invited to Oprah's. Received all kinds of gifts. Etc. Certain there was a focus on the black element of MM marrying into Royalty. And Oprah the most powerful black woman in the world wanted a piece of that. She'll never pay for it but she'll play for it. Deal done. Everyone was happy...until they weren't.

Oprah is an experienced interviewer but didn't do her research. She's reaping what she sowed. Makes you think why Oprah was invited to the Royal wedding when she hardly knew the couple.
I can’t believe Oprah would be so naïve- she ooohed and aaahed through the entire interview and put on open mouthed amazed looks which served to encourage them. Oprah needs to own this one, I’m afraid.
The bottom line is this....but for that incendiary interview giving them the platform to pour out their outrageous lies, they would never have had the opportunity to do so much damage to their families. Mr Markle is very able in telling his side, so OW should give him the right to reply. British TV aired a documentary where he told his side to us and it was heartbreaking to hear. If you didn’t see it you need to give Mr Markle the chance he deserves. I understand that American TV has shown him and his other daughter to be awful people, this is Meghan’s gaslighting of them which American MSM have believed. The British journalist who made the documentary spend a lot of time with Mr Markle giving him the chance to relax and explain himself. Meghan’s family had no training in how to manage the media glare they were thrust into. The Royals wanted to send them aides to help them but Meghan declined the offer saying she knew her family best. Then she left them to basically cope alone, you could even say that she appears to have set them up to fail.
She didn’t even invite her mothers side of the family to her wedding and we now know they were close until she moved to Canada, then they thought she was just too busy.
I don’t think she ever had any intentions of either side of her family ever going to that wedding.
I’ve always questioned why her father was still not in the UK the week before the wedding!! Had he been here say a month before, relaxing, preparing, finally meeting his son-in-law to be, and away from the paparazzi he’d not have had those photos taken, he’d not have had his heart attack and he would have walked Meghan down the aisle. Meghan didn’t bring him over in a respectful timely way because she had no intentions of him being there in my opinion.
How could a well brought up Prince not go to visit her father to formally ask for her hand in marriage?? That is a huge red flag right there. Meghan really can drip poison, even about her own father who did bring her up, did pay for her tuitions, did pay for meals out, did shower her with love. She massively praised her father in 2016 in a speech, yet now she’s gaslighted him by changing their history 💔😢

...I knew at the beginning of the interview when O emphasized "so this is YOUR truth" (O's disclaimer) that it would be fantasy delusional nonsense coming from them. Also if O feels so bad about HMTQ she should apologize to HMTQ regarding the interview and admit publicly that she was lied to but I don't believe she feels "that" bad to make any effort there
If Oprah thinks she can get away with ' it was their truth' she allowed all that crap which was skilfully edited, her responses or postures on cue ! It seems rather incredible that Oprah would be unaware of what Meghan would say. Lots of leading questions and seemingly scripted reactions - that’s not consistent with Oprah walking in cold and not knowing what to expect.
