- If you are wondering how to lose fat then you are going to want to watch this video. It doesn’t matter which diet plan you are following right now to lose weight, the key to your long term permanent success lies much deeper. Even science based diet plans that claim to prove the fastest way to lose body fat won’t stand the test of time if you are unable to do the most important thing when it comes to nutrition, and that is stay consistent with your approach.

In this video, I show you the number one truth about nutrition and losing weight. Without consistency, your chance of keeping off the weight you lost is almost zero. The most important thing you can do is not turn to the latest pubmed studies to supposedly prove how you should be eating but rather determine if the way you decide to eat is going to be something you can do forever.
I’m actually not one to demonize one way of eating over another. Instead, I encourage everyone to adopt the nutrition plan that is most conducive to their lifestyle and is going to be something that they can do for the foreseeable future. This often revolves around a much deeper ideology and one important unavoidable truth.
And that is, getting ripped and losing fat is going to take commitment. Period. It is going to take a long term permanent commitment to either spending a bit more time than you are right now or money to get where you want to be. This can be boiled down to a simple three words and how they interplay together to formulate these requirements. These are fast, cheap and good.
When it comes to nutrition and eating you can get fast, cheap and good but you can’t get all three. In fact, you can only choose two of these three options. In only one world is it possible to get fast, cheap and good nutrition and that is if you are living at home with your parents and they are spending the time, money and effort to prepare your foods for you but even in this example, someone is still sacrificing something - it’s just not you.
More realistically, you are going to have to choose from these other options. In fact, there are only two viable options to diet success since the fast and cheap option is usually one that isn’t conducive to what you’re trying to achieve with your body goals. When you go this route you are left with foods that are likely not healthy or good. This is a quick road to disaster and not one that is recommended.
This leaves the other two options. If you go the fast and good route then you are likely going to have to take advantage of pre-cooked foods in your local Whole Foods or even start using a meal prep company to provide your meals for you. Both of these are going to require a financial commitment that you may or may not be able or ready to make.
On the other hand, if you would prefer to save a good bit of money you can purchase these foods yourself in their raw, natural states and then cook them yourself. This of course if going to take much more time and is going to require that you are willing to make the time commitment to getting this done consistently. Even if you do a full day meal prep or choose to prepare your meals daily.
The fact is, you can’t escape nutrition commitment when you want to get your diet right and lose weight. Losing body fat is one of the hardest things you can do because it takes a 24/7 commitment that many people can’t make. Anyone can get themselves to go to the gym for an hour a few times a week but it takes a lot more effort to be conscientious of what you’re eating for the remaining 23 hours. Don’t get fooled by quick fixes. There is no such thing when it comes to getting ripped.

He doesn't lose fat, he doesn't gain fat in the first place! His body doesn't have to store any new fat, since he stays lean year round. They store all the carbs in the muscles and liver that are renewed immediately upon depletion, use all proteins efficiently for muscle, and use all fat for endocrine hormones and immediate energy release. He never lose fat he never gains any. He burns them off right as they're being digested due to healthy nutrition (insulin friendly carbs) and big muscles (energy eaters).

I lost 73 pounds this year from drinking five liters of water a day and intermittent fasting. I eat six small meals between 7am and 5pm (one meal every two hours). I also only drink my water between 7-5pm. I’m about to drop below 300 lbs. I can’t wait!!

Jeff really is turning into one of my fav workout / nutrition youtube experts...there are levels to this and I just don't see others breaking things down step by step to the extent he is able to. So many things he explains I know from years of working out but I havent mastered the art of figuring it out in my brain and the information is messy. When Jeff is able to explain it so that we have a perfect blueprint to fall back on and give the jumbled info I have in stored in my brain some structure to reference back to on so many subjects i hear myself agreeing and finally clicking time and time again...alot of valuable information for free on youtube👏👍👍

My favorite part about your videos other than the science behind the workouts and the explanations is that you never sugarcoat anything when it comes to nutrition and just basic health stuff
His advice works. I’ve shared this information with my husband and my friends. All of us who were consistent got leaner and healthier. “We could all eat the same things, do the same workouts, and our bodies will still look different.” Every body is different, you just have to find the right training regimen for you.
Great video! I find a mix of 2&3 is good. Using a meal supplement like Huel for Breakfast / rushed lunches and then preparing enough dinner on a couple of nights to cover lunches.
1 note - I think the math should be (F+C+G) x 2/3.

Just a quick side note to put the science back in strength:
The correct formula should be: (F + C + G) * (2/3) since if you divide by a fraction, you multiply by the reciprocal. According to the formula shown in the video you would then choose 4.5 out of 3 options instead 2 out of 3.

Great video, Jeff. One point I'd like to mention regarding consistency is the idea of consistently cycling your diet. I know of many people that have used a keto-style diet to help with their cravings, lower insulin sensitivity, etc. Then, they can go back to a more all-inclusive diet without going overboard.
I think that many of us struggle with keeping one specific diet. And let me tell you... for those of us that drink, changing things up can be a huge help.
Athlean X is awesome. I'm having so much success and my gains of lean muscle definition is showing something crazy. I'm beginning phase 2 and I cant wait to hit the mat. The nutrition you provide is spot on too. I just tweak it just a little to suit my intermittent fasting. How do you multiply?? When x is over y it usually means divide bro
He's saying to get two-thirds of the sum of F+C+G, you need to multiply by two-thirds.
Dividing by two-thirds gives you three halves of the sum (A number larger than the orginal sum).
[2 (F+C+G)]/3 = (F+C+G)/(3/2) = (2/3) x (F+C+G)

Hey Jeff, I have been following your channel for a year a so, I really love your video and you have even motivated me and helped me to change getting healthier and stronger and lose almost 30 kg from the AX-1 program. Even thou i have never really completed it.
But I've hit a plateau a few months back, got really discouraged and lazy and I have never able to get myself back on track to how I was constantly looking forward to hitting the gym everyday. I did not bounce back to how i was at the beginning, but i did put on weight and lost all my discipline to workout or even control what I eat.
How do you keep yourself motivated to keep pushing on. I still remember how you said. If we go to the gym and have it easy, what is the point. It had pushed me back then to work hard with every work out. Now every workout is like a drag, every rep is a struggle. I have no idea what happened to me.
Spot on here is the science fat loss is only valuable when it’s applied with the science of behavior. Best advice is simple: caloric deficit + nutrient dense foods + training regimen. BUT... you need three behaviors: 1) consistency, 2) self-management (discipline), 3) long-term focus (motivation for things yet to come). No fat loss without the right behaviors

@Lauren Lynley When on a low bf, high carbs are crucial for energy an performance, it will be burnt off anyways. Keto are for fat people over short periods of 2 months max.

@Abhilasha Sen nahh, but I was a fat guy who lost 110 pounds over the period of 7 months and gained 6 pounds of muscle mass, and I have stayed my ideal body fat percentage for the last 5 years and have a lot of energy, which the keto diet didn't provide for me, it was just a temporary weight loss for 1 month before I started feeling miserable and had no energy
@Abhilasha Sen I eat carbs, if I don't eat carbs I just get tempted to eat a lot of them and then go on a spree of eating them for a straight week, so yeah keep eating carbs but try to reduce them and replace with some vegetables or fruits, that helped me a lot
