The original soundtrack was recorded by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Eddie Vedder. Here I am not sure if that one is Eddie Vedder but Nusrat's nephew Rahat Fateh Ali is the other singer. Both Nusrat and Rahat are phenomenal.
When they put my body on the funeral pyre, I'll request this song be played. What better way to transition into the next realm than having this work of beauty lead the way? peace -
And I wished for so long cannot stay. All the precious moments cannot stay. It's not like wings have fallen cannot stay. But still something's missing cannot say. Holding hands of daughters and sons, And their faiths are falling down. I have wished for so long How I wish for you today. Will I walk the long road? Cannot stay There's no need to say goodbye All the friends and family. All the memories going round. I have wished for so long. How I wish for you today. And the wind keeps rollin', And the sky keeps turning gray. And the sun is set The sun will rise another day. I have wished for so long How I wish for you today. I have wished for so long How I wish for you today. Will I walk the long road? We all walk the long road
This songs makes me crawl everytime i listen to.. This was the greatest moment of the creative side of Eddie Vedder ever.. It is really sad that this side was gone one and for all....
From open wounds and loss of precious fluids, to regeneration, to healing, to feathering of scars left like badges, to the extension of the profound. The Song Transcends. Request. Play this at my Memorial. Camp side, Mountains side, Beach Side, River Side, meadows, groves, deserts.... where ever you may.
Thank you Dr Krikun from Bergen Community College for Showing this video in World Music class. Just Love this song. Because of Bands Like these people like me aspire to become educated in different culturistic music. I learned so much. Thank You for helping me get my degree in music business.
This is so beautiful, immersing For you my beautiful soul sister of light, June Bade. 💜 I wish For you all that is from love, of beauty and goodness Peace...be you. No more pain, suffering For you. I Miss you more than words. You will always be with me. In Nature, Art, Music, Light, in all beauty. I love you so much, my June. Until we meet again. xoxo... Now fly high, free and in peace. 💜🦋💜
this is a badass opener... or first song back from a break... picture it... the band sitting in a circle... acoustic... would be nice. I like when they open with Of The Girl, too. what can i say? pearl jam can do no wrong!
The song is in a fog searching for meaning, dying but resolute to not fail... One must gather all inside positive thought memory's to make it , the end is far.. But feels near.. What a prefix
was anybody at Groundwork 2001? Seeing PJ and Rahat Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan do this in Seattle a month after 9/11 was one of the most incredible moments Ive seen on stage.
I'm sad they didn't make a song when Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was still alive when they made the song with him. Good enough version this one. Thanks for posting this! :)
@StraightPunkEdge93 Nusrat had died before this performance. Eddie dedicates this performance in the start. He is sitting with Rahat Ali Khan, the nephew and successor of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
Nusrat's backing vocals aren't on Merkin Ball, however. ... Buy the Dead Man Walking movie soundtrack - that is the version that features Nusrat, plus a second song by both of them ("The Face of Love")
nice to hear a variation on one of the absolute finest tunes in both the Pearl Jam and the venerable Neil Young's discographies....besides, its all one song.
very few songs leave a permanent mark in your life.... this has to be one of those
Absolutely
true that
Agreed
You bloody betcha! Moves me in ways I didn’t think anything could.
Yeah
Eddie and Pearl Jam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and family, what a blessing. Nusrat, now resting in heaven with the Lord, must be proud of his nephew.
If this doesn't make you cry, you're not human
I'm a fan of both these guys and it's only today that I've known of them ever performing together. Wouldn't have thought that in a 100 years.
It's a Pearl of a Jam🤘🤘

All problems in life end when Eddie vedder sings.
Vocals from Nusrat in this piece were so haunting.. You could close your eyes and just get lost in them.

I was working as an usher that night. I got fired after the show because I was watching Pearl Jam instead of doing what I was supposed to. No regrets.
I was there. One of the most powerful moments in my life. The video for that is also on UA-cam.
both singers are in that rare place of heightened enlightenment. i envy them.

not all boundaries are man-made, but you're right; they don't usually matter.
