THAT is how drag racing should be, right there.....heads up....first one to the line is the winner and no BS.....and 3 pedals ONLY!! I'm 60yo and sold the last 2 pedal vehicle I owned in 1983......I can still grab a gear just fine!!!
Yes, and there are no add on electronics or nitrous it's all carburetor and tune. Thanks for commenting
Agree Ole buddy 100% to me that's hotrod racing all the way back when you had to drive that thing grabbin gears is half the fun right
@@oldscoolcooldiecast1879 Absolutely. Dumpin the clutch, and and the suspense and mystery of hitting 3rd gear. When hot-rods were cars, and not computers. I miss the days.
In my opinion, nothing sounds better than an N/A oldschool. The gurgling, rumbling and popping screams hands on build right from the garage. This is the true essence of speed.😎👍
Totally agree Jorge, thanks for commenting bud
Ooooh, that 57 Ford really kicked ass!!! GOOD!!!
Glad you liked it Jerry
I love these races. I also love the rules. 1967 or older. That includes not only the cars, but parts as well. If it didn't exist in 1967, it is not allowed. No modern computer garbage here, this is the real deal. All vintage cars with all vintage parts.
They are true as they can be for 2022 the rules keep them close. Thanks for commenting Gerald
Old guys complaining about modern technology! 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@sludge8506 Damn right. "Modern" technology is GARBAGE.
@@geraldscott4302 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤪
Inhaled out where is this race being held at

Thank you too! I do have some 1/4 mile Pro Mod videos. Most all the others are 1/8th mile as it is what most of the tracks in the south are. Thanks for commenting Timothy
I suppose 1/8 mile is better than nothing!

4 speed transmissions and clutch petal. Muncie, Top loaders, Liberty's & Borg Warner Power Brute don't get any better. Whell would be cool to see John Force doing some old school racing.
That would be cool for sure, thanks for commenting Dan
...or the Grump....or...well..any of the REAL drag racers of the day....
Saw something not long ago that said they DOCUMENTED that the Grump went 250+ CONSECUTIVE passes withOUT missing a gear......holy cow but THAT is one of those records that will likely remain forever
This is old school racing I grew with U guy's this good
Thanks for commenting Larry, and glad you like the videos.

Great video. Had a '55 Chevy back in the day; 3 speed on the tree. Nobody had an automatic transmission. Also a '65 GTO; 4 speed muncie. Foot in the fan; just slappin' the clutch; loved it.
Very cool! Jim, when racing was about driving the car your self no electronic help. All mechanical parts working and tuned with screws and bolts. Thanks for commenting Jim
Some great footage, thanks for posting 😆😆😆😆
Love it
Thanks for watching Garry and glad you like the videos
That 66 biscuit brought back some memories. Me and Dad would use carprice tail light lenses for good luck and it changed the look a little bit.
Thanks for watching the videos Duey, and glad it could bring back some memories for you bud.
That white impala at the 2:30 mark has something funky going on with that rearend.
For sure good eye bud. something is broken under there.
Super cool video, I love gassers. I don’t know why other than the look, the sound and they look like a handful. Gassers are the best!

They will be back at Shady Side this Nov. 4,5 2022 and thanks for commenting Josh
AWSOME CONTENT AWSOME CARS AWSOME WEELIES 👌
Where in Ohio? I live in Norwalk about 10 minutes from one of the best dragstrips in the country.
@@johnhipp8267 we always went to pacemakers and national trails
@@joshthomas83 Back in the day when we were 16-17 years old, we loved to watch the drags from the side of the road next to the strip. Things have really changed. Way back in 1968-1969.
I would give all the tecnology in the world up for these cars to be built again!
These cars are running now 2022, Goggle (Southeast Gassers) Thanks for commenting bud.
So cool 😎 loved watching this

100% AWESOME VIDEO!!!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for commenting also Jerry
"Clutch Shifting"? That's a new one!!!!
Or gear jamming LOL
Through the years, many of the cars have changed, but the way the girls look haven't. Short dresses and white boots. Gotta love it. I prefer old school, The Willy's, the Ford Anglia's and the Henry J's. What a show they use to put on.
These cars are still racing today in 2022, check out my playlist for about 72 more videos of the Southeast gassers. Thanks for commenting Dennis
Historic skirt racing! Thanks
You bet! and thanks for commenting Steve
I love to see all the broken parts too.
There hard on the parts for sure, taking the rides to the limit driving on the edge. Thanks for commenting Tom
GREAT VIDEO IN EVERY RESPECT!!!! DO NOT CHANGE A THING! DO THIS ALL YEAR!!!! (sorry for my enthusiastic yelling hahaha)
Glad you like it Tom, Thanks for commenting bud.
There was some quick little Novas.
There fun to watch when the wheels go up LOL Thanks for commuting Bob
Radical, noisy, contaminant, iron bumper to bumper, Pure Old School Muscle💀🏁!
Glad you like the video Danial, thanks for commenting bud
Dear Shadyside. Pop for some light bulbs.
The track did upgrade the win lights and timing system at the beginning of this year 2022. Thanks for commenting Bunne
Darn right, old school drag racing, like back in the day.
You got that right! Thanks for commenting Bruce
Wow the wagon in the right lane around the 1:30 mark, now that was a violent launch. If you watch it slowed down all 4 tires come off the ground.
There all dumping that clutch on the green and wheels up action. Thanks for commenting Roger
There's nothing else that sounds quite like a screaming high rpm small block with 4 gears and a heavy flywheel!
And running straight headers, have to love the sound. Thanks for commenting Chris
Old school cool
So glad you like the videos John, Thanks for commenting also
Well I am a Ford fan however I love all these cars.
There were some cool body styles back in the day. Thanks for commenting David

Next best thing is video, go to my playlist tabs and look for southeast gassers videos. There are about 72 other videos to watch, thanks for commenting Kenny
Girls in white boots! nice
Sure adds to the racing in a great way, Thanks for commenting John
I learned how to shift from Grumpy , but I never smoked a cigar
Thanks for commenting skeets
This is the way to see these cars.on video where you can turn down the volume a little and not smell tire smoke!!try it in person one day and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Tire smoke and v8 power is the best sounds there are, just my opinion
Are some of these 5 speed? I always thought 4 gears was maximum.
From the rule book Transmission/Clutch
• All cars must have a clutch and straight drive transmission. You must use the clutch to shift. Clutch-less
shifts are not allowed and will be vigorously enforced and may include suspension from competition.
• Cars are only allowed to use a maximum of 4 forward gears (If you have a 5 speed you are not allowed to
shift to 5th) Thanks for asking Kevin
All SEGA cars are 4 speeds
Good grief! That '63 at 2:30 has some rear end alignment issues! It was going sideways down the whole track! Dude needs square it up in the chassis.
Yes I would say there's a bolt or two not tight LOL Thanks for commenting
I'd rather watch that then the nhra with the ten min of thanking all thier sponsers
Yes they race back to back at these events, almost no down time. Thanks for commenting John
At 2:29 the car starts to twist!
Just a little frame twist LOL thanks for commenting
There's no time and speed posted.
This is meant to represent the 50's and 60's street racing. All heads up first one to the finish line wins. No bracket crap no brake lights at the strip, get there first you win. Thanks for commenting Joe
Wish it was quarter mile!!!
Many of the tracks in the southeast are only 1/8 mile. Even the so-called (streetoutlaws) run to the 1/8th mile so they say LOL Thanks for commenting Derren
Shadyside is always "rowdy"
Shady Side is one of the fun old school type tracks, it fits the gassers perfectly. Thanks for commenting Malkie
Is this 1/8th mile?
Yes 1/8th mile and first one to the finish line wins no bracket crap LOL all heads up classes. Thanks for commenting Bob
What motor is in that 63 Biscayne
I'm not sure, but you can google the Southeast Gassers web site for the class rules. Each class has set rules.
Big block chevy
much better racing than street outlaws and you can watch different cars and drivers. street outlaws is same cars and drivers, southeast gassers are better some of their rules are no electronics no automatics
Glad you like the videos Jeff, check out the play list on the channel there are 72 more videos of the gassers.
A Lot of similar models...🙃
There's as much variety maybe more than there is today.
That's a low budget track
It's the perfect track for the feel of the gassers travel back in time. Thanks for commenting blastman
Robin
Thanks for commenting bud.
Are they allowed nitrous? These things are screaming.......
No as in no power adders of any kind, no electronics. All are carbureted and all are four-speed stick shifts, in all classes. Thanks for asking and commenting Kevin. PS: first one to the finish line wines
@@nitrovideoo i believe the gasser classes are permitted to use old school mechanical fuel injection ( i.e. hilborn etc.) in addition to carburetors. No modern electronic fuel injection however.
If those old women knew how stupid they looked running in. front of the cars. lol
Kind of harsh Jerry, there supporting the sport so there's no problem that I see.
Yeah lighten up, and please 🥺 confirm your 💕😘 love for the planet of the girlrillas
1/4 MILE IS MY PREFERENCE
1/8 MILE IS OK BUT ITS ONLY 1/2 THE TASK .
"IMO"
I like 1/4 mile also, but 660 is better than nothing. Thanks for commenting Michael
So many tracks dont have enough shut diwn down area.
I was at a 1/8 mile track a couple days ago in Mobile AL.
they had to cut a circle path through the woods in case they couldn't stop.
A few 5 second cars had to utilize it good thing the trees were taken out.
Had me wondering how many kissed those trees in years past
Thats why you always invest a little more in some wellwood brakes
