    All of these issues would be avoided if people would just be 100% themselves on camera as they are in real life. No hassle, no planning, no overthinking. Just you sharing something you care for, and a camera.

      "All of these issues would be avoided if people would just be 100% themselves on camera as they are in real life" Agree, but it is a little like saying "If only I had super powers I could fly to the shops instead of driving."

    One of the biggest compliments that I really appreciate is when someone comments on one of my videos that it felt like having a chat with a friend! Obviously there is always improvement to make, but one of the things that helps me relax is having my camera set up so that I can’t see myself!!!!

    I love how supportive the UA-cam community is! 🥰 I'm sharing my own travel adventures too, and the journey has been wild. I'm at 383 subs and can't wait to see where it goes next. Thanks to everyone who’s part of it! 🙏

    For me, I have this reflex where as soon as something doesn't go according to plan while I'm filming, I stop recording, or I put the camera down, or I redo the take. But, when I watch the footage back while I'm editing, I'm like, man I wish I had kept recording because that was actually a funny moment. I really have to train myself to have the mindset that no matter what happens while filming, I'm gonna roll with it and not stop recording 😅

    As someone who actually does similar content (kayak fishing & other random stuff) one of my main goals is to be more authentic in my videos. This is a good reminder for me. I’ve been trying to remember the acronym CAP - Confidence, Authentic, Prepared. Thanks for putting out this video. Great Content

    So many great takeaways! I attended VIdSummit and Kendall was one of my favorite speakers. Your assessments were spot-on. I know Kendall and what you see is what you get. He's the most kind-hearted, sweet, and fun UA-camr I know.

      I have only edited a few of my videos to just take out filler words. All are one take videos I have been told that's hard for others to accomplish. But I'm not sure if I need to start editing if it would make a difference.

    My friends who have watched my videos said I come across the same as when we have conversations. But then point out I have a bad habit of closing my eyes when I am making a point and that probably isn't good for making videos.

    When I think of such camera presence, sometimes I think about the movie Trumen Show with Jim Carey where the audience knows and see's his genuine self but he has no awareness so it's as natural as can be. I feel like it's impossible to capture these genuine moments whether of kindness to an other being or just some relatable emotion in the moment. I feel like if I quickly switched on the camera to try and capture such moments they'll seem fake.

    • @ChannelMakers
      @ChannelMakers  2 місяці тому +2

      Yeah that can be super challenging. I think it's best to try to get into the habit of capturing them anyway. If it seems fake to some people but you know it's genuine, there will be some people that also see it as genuine and you'll slowly curate a great audience for your channel. You can also always cut things during the edit if they were just too off the mark.

    I simply don't have the skills to be anyone other than myself. So I have an advantage right! I don't script my presentation and roll with what ever I'm painting. For me, the tutorial must be as close to having the student sitting next to me. I explain my layout, and try and capture every stage of the process good and bad. If I have a happy accident then thats good too. Stay authentic and your videos mean so much more to the viewers - your tribe - your YT family. Happy creating - 😃

    We don't act in our videos. We are not scared or nervous to be in front of the camera. Not sure if any of that flows through to the viewers though.

    We are going to keep doing scripted content. I like to write stories and plan out, and I have found that when I do that, my videos perform better than when I do them less thought out.
    Hope what we offer is "unique" enough that we still get views.

  • @GeekGhostGamerTop
    @GeekGhostGamerTop 2 місяці тому

    I'm also this. I'm usually a off-the-wall, unplanned script type UA-camr. I don't like planning too much at the sake of being me on camera for my topics. I just want to be unfiltered and being me. Just sharing

    I feel like I've wasted a lot of the on camera skills I've gained over the years. When I was doing a gaming channel I spent a long time getting comfortable on camera and being more confident, just to end up walking away from that channel to do this one where I'm almost never on camera at all. 😅

  • @saneauto

    None of that works without the great "Challenge" title of his video because without that noone will see the video nor your great performance or editing.

    You've lost me, what's the hack that triggers the algorithm?

    • @ChannelMakers
      @ChannelMakers  2 місяці тому +6

      Authenticity -> loyal audience that watches all or most of your content, engages, and shares -> video spreads.
      We’ve seen older videos take off much later because they hit a sweet spot with watch time and engagement.

    I agree that being yourself on camera is important to build an audience. BUT referring to it is an "algorithm hack" is low quality click-bait... Ok so I have come back and edited this comment because it felt a little harsh but why hide good advice in a title that is misleading! That is the opposite of being genuine and yourselves.

    “Best talk given”…..shows us zero of the talk 🤦‍♂️
    I mean, what did I just watch?!

    • @ChannelMakers
      @ChannelMakers  2 місяці тому

      Sorry, wish I could have. VidSummit sells the replays for $1,000 so we could get in a lot of trouble if we showed the talk. He also didn't share a lot of concrete tips or UA-cam advice. He basically just said he tries to understand his audience and makes videos because he cares about people so his authenticity really is why everyone loved his interview - not any juicy secrets. Hope my takeaway was somewhat helpful.
