Red barn is my favorite distress color. Hard to choose, citron is sweet. I totally appreciate the tip also on the Strathmore! Wish I'd known these things a year ago Jessica!😆
It’s hard to pick just one color. But I guess I could say maybe peacock feathers. But I really love them all and use them often. I am missing quite a few colors so I do appreciate the opportunity to win a prize. Thank you again!
Uff, that's a tough one! I love so many of the colours but for last year's Christmas cards I've really come to appreciate Antique Linen. This colour proved to be so versatile for blending out a variety of other colours (for example going from Seedless Preserves to Picked Raspberry to Antique Linen, or from Peacock Feathers to Cracked Pistacchio to Antique Linen, just to name two) and has truly found a way into my heart! :)
Wilted Violet is my favorite so far. I just cannot thank you enough for this video. It will mean the difference in my card making. May God bless you and keep you healthy.
These were great tips Jessica. I can’t believe that I have not thought to use a paper towel to prevent inky fingers. My favorite oxide is Abandoned Coral.
Thank you!! Yes inky fingers are the bane of my existence on card panels!! Or inky cat toes cause that happens a lot, too. 🤦🏻♀️ I LOVE abandoned coral! ❤️❤️❤️
Love the tip about the copy paper underneath and marking the sections. This will be particularly helpful when you have the paper towel covering so much of the card.
Wow! I can’t believe your video popped up just when I needed it! I’m still trying to figure out which was more relaxing, watching you ink blend, or the background music! I have watched dozens of very good videos, but I come away more anxious than anticipatory and don’t feel like I even want to attempt it. I now believe it is the background music. 😎
You covered my favorite tip - I cut my Bristol smooth paper just a little bigger than A2 size so I can trim down the edges that sometimes have a darker blend on them. My favorite distress oxide ink blending combo is tumbled glass, peacock feathers and faded jeans.
Aww thank you so much!! You’re in for a world of fun with ink blending!! Make sure to subscribe and comment your favorite ink color for a chance to win the giveaway! 😉❤️😘
These were all such great tips, easy to understand, and easy to follow. I'm just starting to explore making cards from scratch, instead of enhancing cheap cards to look expensive. Watching your demo makes me have an achievable goal for starting to make my own cards. Thank you, so much, for this in-depth demo. I'm going to explore all of your videos over the coming months and see if I can't complete some cards with a modest investment into some of the blending tools and ink suggestions you've made here. I have limited room for crafting and will always appreciate *compact* and stackable solutions that will allow me to save space and stay highly organized. Thanks again for this video and I look forward to emploring your video library.
Even though I've been ink blending for years - I still found this video helpful. Lots of great tips and good information. Thank you for this great video!
Thank you for this detailed video. You answered several questions I’ve had when playing with my distress oxide inks. At this time, my favorite color is Salty Ocean.
What a great video. You've given us so many great tip and things to try so we can hopefully be as proficient at blending as you are. Happy Holidays! I currently only have the Distress Oxide and Distress Inks. I hope to grow my collection in the future!
OMGosh, so many tips! I especially like the paper choice of strathmore. Thank you so much for this video, have now bookmarked it and hopefully soon I will be churning out blended backgrounds that do not look like I let the furbaby do it.
I know this is an older video. I had to take a moment to thank you. This was the best video I’ve seen for new stampers or blenders. Your work is absolutely amazing. Thank you again. I’m sure these take a lot of time to record.
Omg! The paper towel is so obvious yet I never thought of it. This will save me from leaving fingerprints all over! Thank you for such a great video with so many great tips!
Jess, this is really a valuable video to watch and bookmark. So many clever tips and what products to maximize good results. Excellent, easy to follow narrative, as well.
Jess, thank you so much for this video. I too found Neenah had to work with. I love both Bristol smooth & vellum surface. Picking one color is hard to do. I trend to reach for squeezed lemonade oxide the most. I prefer brushes over foam. If I do use foam it is the domed ones. Great video.
Love that you put so much thought into this video. It’s very detailed and I feel you will truly help many who struggle with blending with these techniques.
Jessica, this is fabulous!!! Love your teaching style, your level of detail, you're so clear and concise. I've watched a lot of ink blending videos and yours, by far, is the best!!! You've renewed my interest in ink blending and I can't wait to try all your tips and tricks. Thanks for sharing your insight and talent with all of us!!!
Thanks for an in-depth tutorial on ink blending. I tend to use Distress Oxides when doing full panels for backgrounds and I love all your ideas for layering texture with water drops, pastes etc. My favorite color is Seedless Preserves, it seems to go with everything!
Thanks for all of these great tips! And also thanks for explaining everything so well. It's hard to choose a favorite distress ink color but I guess mine would be tattered rose
My absolute favourite combination in both oxides and distress, but particularly with distress is shaded lilac, blueprint sketch and chipped sapphire. I find I need strathmore with distress, but if my oxides are juicy, and I use a brush, the Neenah works just fine. Loved this UA-cam! Thank you for making it!
I’m so glad I found your channel. This video is full of important information and innovative ideas to finish up the card. ie. larger panels than needed. Common sense I know, but a great reminder to think ahead.
The most comprehensive tutorial on ink blending I have come across so far. Thanks so much for sharing all of those tips and tricks. I’m a beginner and this was so very helpful. New subscriber! 😊
First, thank you for this video. It's been very very helpful. I think I need to ink up some of my pads. Secondly, I used Strathmore in the beginning and thought it was pretty great. But I was a newbie and everyone else said Neenah, so I switched. I'm definitely switching back! Thank you again for this. It's going into my how-to playlist and I'm sure it will be viewed many, many times.
Thanks for all the tips. I find that you do not need to be afraid to add a lot of ink. And that layers of ink work better than trying to saturate the paper at once. Also depending where you live the humidity effects your paper. I live where it is humid in the summer and my craft room is in the basement so I notice a difference between summer and winter when I ink blend. My favorite color is spun sugar but I use tumbled glass the most. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving and stay safe. Take care.
Great tips I love ink blending, sometimes when my mojo takes a vacation I just do backgrounds. Love the Bristol smooth the best also. Another way to use a blended piece that didn’t come out right is to use a die cut on it. Thank you
Love all the tips! I know you’ve been swatching your favorite blends - I’d love to see what colors you use on your blends, particularly your unusual color combos. Your ink blending combos have always been super inspiring to me!
Thank you for these amazing tips on blending- from start to finish. I like all the different shades of blue. Can’t wait to try this tips, when my new ink pads come in.
I just found you and I'm so grateful. I just love this video. You explain things so well and I hope you make more like these. I would love more videos like this. You are awesome.

I was thrilled to see the box idea you used when doing those splatters as last week I tried this and thought I was being so careful but was horrified that splatters were everywhere so pinching your idea too. I never gave a thought to various cardstock making a difference to how the blending would be. I loved the look for the die cuts and going to be trying that idea as that will be great for butterflies etc. Gosh just loads of fresh ideas for me to try as to be honest I have felt a bit deflated at my blending techniques. Thank you so much Jessica for sharing with us and so appreciated. Have subscribed and will be checking out your other videos too. Have a great week and stay safe. X 👍😎👏👋🌈
