The eu did exactly the same thing. You could argue it was even worse. I'll seriously never understand how people complain about everything Disney, while somehow forgetting the eu had the exact same problems they complain about, but often worse.
@@zogar8526Not sure about worse but yeah, the EU wasn’t the rose garden some fans seem to think it was. For every Heir to the Empire there were three books featuring idiotic stuff like the sun crusher
The two stupidest mistakes here: The idea of continuing the Skywalker Saga (it’s fucking OVER, walk away), and insisting Rey be in a variety of projects instead of character growth. The more of this shit I hear the more I fall into the full reboot camp. If they can’t leave the Skywalker Saga alone, then they need to stop screwing with the legacy of those originals. It’s like watching the Terminator timelines get f’ed up beyond fixing. It could have been avoided entirely.
They learned that no matter what they do, they will make cash. And what this is is a -marvel- uhm star wars cinematic universe where they just produce their mindless, nothing matters storylines in endless dreadful films around a bunch of characters.
Exactly u can see it from the Last Jedi and TROS (the one we don’t speak of.) The Force Awakens and Rogue One were amazing films until Last Jedi split the fandom badly and then they decided “quick let’s just finish this with no idea what we are doing.” Even Daisy Ridley said on a radio show months after TROS that when Rey’s heritage was being announced, on the day they couldn’t decide on which way to go.
0:27 "Dawn of the Jedi"? I think the reason we haven't seen anything KOTOR-related is because they'll never be able to live up to the original Knights of the Old Republic or the Sith Lords II stories.
I want it, ngl. I don't hate Rey as a character, and feel that she, like any character, can be improved upon. However, I'd rather it be in a side project before reintroducing her to the world. In the meantime, I think we should focus on a new cast.
Too late to fix that. And I don't even think she or any of the actors are bad, just the writing and directing has destroyed the continuity so much that you've stigmatized the fans to think it's just gonna keep getting worse.
It’s not just that there are too many cooks in the kitchen, it’s that none of them are agreeing on what they’re cooking or how to cook it. That’s how they ended up with two cooks trying to undo each other’s work and ruining the whole three-course meal.
Disney always said they would push out Star Wars movies once every year "until they're not profitable anymore". Guess we got there sooner than they thought possible. Never underestimate incompetence.
@@LuiDecano that’s actually the truth of the matter, Lucas’s wish was to have Kennedy take his place, it was Lucas’ choice and Disney wants to stay to that choice
@@LuiDeca "In 2012, George Lucas, contemplating retirement, sought someone he knew and trusted to secure the future of Lucasfilm. She certainly deserves blame because she's the head of the snake, she hired the architects that ruined the sequels, but how many lines of dialogue did she write? Did she kill off Luke? Do we ignore she kept Filoni on board which led to Clone Wars coming back? Also brought in Favreau? Do we praise him for season 1 and 2 being good but blame her for season 3 and Boba being bad? We can say yes to all of the above, because again she's the leader but literally putting the sequels at the feet of one person is "dishonest" if you want to be literal it's Lucas's fault for choosing the money and selecting her. It's Mark Hamill's fault for not walking away as soon as he read her script for The Last Jedi.
It's weird how some ppl genuinely believes blood doesn't matter in plot driven franchises like this one. Like it's ok if anyone just took anyone's name and it still matters.
@@acrane3496 The real issue is that Rey has nothing to do with the Skywalkers - she barely knew Luke. Sounds like a fucking nightmare. But this kind of mismanagement is no surprise, we all know how little respect Disney actually has for their writing staff.
@@evancoffland19 No, it's time to move on. Mark Hamill is getting up there, Carrie Fisher is dead, Vader's story is a complete one - the correct move is to make good, new movies that take place in the Star Wars universe. That also means retconning the sequels entirely.
Disney nukes a money making IP. That is honestly the gist of the problem, and until someone else gets ahold of it or kicks Disney in the balls, we are never getting a good Star Wars film or show ever again.
Maybe AI will soon get to the point that a rando with a little bit of knowledge will be able to create an amazing film complete with John Williams-esque soundtrack and special effects, using the original actors' likenesses and voices. And release it for free. Actually I wonder if it could already be done in radio serial format, which would be poetic since Star Wars took inspiration from the old Flash Gordon movie serials, and the original trilogy had a radio serial release as well iirc.
Even if they just let Kathleen go and bring Lucas on as an actual Creative Director, as they had said they would originally; it would be good for the series. Let's face it, Disney has tons of money. They have the capital to really push Disney to the next level in production. But their management is the problem. A problem they ARE aware of.
There is no Skywalker saga. It ended with Luke saving Vader. They should've focused on the galaxy, the aftermath, Literally ANYTHING ELSE that is not tied to *''T H E C H O S E N O N E''* narrative. Prequel trilogy worked despite said narrative, not because of it. It twisted the chosen one trope by turning the hero against the people. I'd quite like to see that extra-galactic alien race coming, or a post Luke era Jedi that has been reformed, Or no force users just the world through a normal character's eyes post Empire's fall. Hell, even them going all the way back to Old Republic would be far more interesting than ''yeah we got another choosen one to save the universe a billionth time against a villain who is pretty much the face of everything wrong with life''
@ very true. Still felt they could U-turn that garbage with good writers. Audience hadn’t fully turned on the characters yet either. But you’re right. That bad episode 4 copy blows.

Disney Star Wars lost me a LONG time ago. Giving me a time travel retcon that deletes the Disney timeline post RotJ would be about the only thing that would bring me back.
Shows what kind of people they hired to create for Star Wars if they don't know where to take a character. Take Rey PALPATINE for example. Take two of her biggest issues with the fandom: her being a Mary Sue - shut up, she is. If you can't see that, you're a Disney/KK PR tool - and her co-opting the name Skywalker. You can already build several stories from those AND try to reconcile with the fandom. First, strip her of her OP-ness. You can explain this away as The Force doing so because [a] Palps is now unreturned and [b] Ben Solo's death and thus the end of their "Force Dyad" means she's just your regular-ish Force Sensitive now. She's still a Palpatine, though, and her grandfather was powerful in the Force so there's THAT potential. But now she has to... relearn it all. Finally, organically grow in the Force. She has the books from Achoo, or whatever the f that planet was. She has a bit of training from Luke. This would be a good time to bring out an adult Grogu, too, who probably knows more about the Force than she does and then some because Disney can steal all the memes about everyone's favorite "Baby Yoda" also becoming trained as a Mandalorian. Insert any legacies of Cal Kestis, Ahsoka Tano, and Ezra Bridger here. Make it even so she's having a hard time finding students because what's she going to teach THEM when she really knows nothing about the Force? Even Luke in the material in EU between RotJ and Heir to the Empire sought out knowledge. Make HER do that. Tell the story of how she EARNS the right to be a Jedi AND the Grandmaster. And then there's her surname, her bloodline. So many conflict stories you can wring out of the fact that the granddaughter of one of the most successful Sith Lords in history wants to be a Light Side Force Sensitive. When she introduces herself as a Skywalker, have people who knew Luke and Leia SCOFF at her. You're no Skywalker. Because, really, outside of her small clique in the Resistance, who really knows her? And remember how they made it so Leia lost credibility when people found out she was Darth Vader's daughter? Imagine finding out Rey's Sheev Palpatine's granddaughter. Look Lucasfilm and Disney writing pool, I made all that up in a few minutes. Was it that hard?
Disney needs to admit they screwed up with the rey/new order timeline. Start from scratch and introduce a new trilogy. Admit the .mistake and start over.
How can Disney "continue the skywalker saga"? they are ALL dead and we never got to see Han, Leia and Luke on screen together again despite 5 movies made by disney and eff known how many sub-par series. U have the original trilogy harmy cuts, the prequels, the 90s media and the clone wars, i have enough to cover me until someone else is the IP holder as not even the mandolorian was safe, just as they finally set the opening "bounty hunter has second thoughts, becomes a dad" plotline to rest there next season opens right back up like the finale of the previous series never happened and mando is suddenly uninterested in getting baby-yoda back to the people who can help and care for him long term. So instead of "mando finally starts to get a life and develop a personal goal" we are stuck in the sitcom-mode of baby and Bo rescue mando from easily defeatable threats, encounters and events because he's grossly incompetent now and just hands off things he once valued. i liked andor DESPITE it's titular character and i;m hoping that the PJ? version of obi-wan will eventually come out because i want a version of that show that at least tries to look, feel and act like a star wars show.

Rey cannot save the franchise. People are bored of seeing the same characters over and over, even the ones they actually like. Rey doesn't even have that broad fan support to engage people. Rey was "supposedly" the replacement for Luke Skywalker, but she was underdeveloped as a character and lacks charisma, so people don't relate to her. A random girl that suddenly is more powerful than everybody, just because? Even Palpatine has a character arc (as we can see in the "Darth Plagueis" book). Not interesting and not that entertaining, sadly.

In the force awakens, Rey felt like she had potential to become a fun, endearing, and entertaining character. In the last Jedi and rise of Skywalker her character became a Mary sue and not likable at all. They should really move on from her character.
She was already a Mary Sue in the first one if you actually paid attention she was poorly made from the start yet they could of fixed it and made her better in the sequels yet they only made her worse and more inconsistent, and she didn’t deserve to be a Skywalker at all. The causals and kids might like her a bit but not more than the other better characters and most other fans wish she was gone or reduced in role, they literally did nothing on screen with Luke’s Jedi order worth a shit needing comics and shows to give some info on it yet it was just a lazy push to make the new Gen matter and leave the Old, literally just giving Rey the Jedi Order that Luke deserved.
You better not be talking about The Acolyte, thank god that show ended. The period between Return and Force Awakens is a better era with quite a lot of potential
They would never do that. It’s like how Sony will never sell Spider-Man even with all the stinkers they make like Madame Web or Kraven. The IP is just too valuable for merchandising and theme parks, not to mention they can still slip through box office juggernauts every so often. Like universally Rise of Skywalker was disliked, but it still managed to pull in a billion.
A curse relating to the Star Wars films? The curse is very simple. In the old Expanded Universe, there was a decade of building up the Jedi Academy from nothing, and making sure that Han and Leia had three children with well established characters. Disney's trilogy decided to make sure that none of that ever happened, and skipped directly to Jacen (Ben) turning to the dark side. Building an expanded universe is like building a pyramid--Del Rey dismantled the pyramid that Bantam built from the top down, whilst Disney tried to build the summit without the base.
@@benimarusasaka9127then let's do our part in a capitalist society and make them lose money faster by not paying Disney any money for these movies. Because only a socialist country would keep these brands alive like Jeff Bezos and Amazon prime paying for his trash lord of the rings
Oh look, they FINALLY realized that writers should talk to each other. 🙄 If only they figured that out a decade ago, before Abrams and Johnson squabbled over the sequels.
Well that wasn’t the intention, the real lessons of the sequels are: don’t hire someone you’re not going to get along with (Colin Trevorrow) and don’t listen to the small amount of angry fans over The Last Jedi
It's hard to make new stuff when the new stuff is make exclusively so you can make more new stuff later to sell instead of telling a story that some person with a vision tried to tell. It's also hard when the idea of the "new stuff" is to not stray at all from a New Hope and avoid any possibility of looking like the prequels. Pretty sure they're now busting their heads to find an excuse to have storm troopers again.
What's dumb too is that having a bunch of different projects between directors that don't talk to each other would be fine *if they weren't supposed to all be about or share the same characters and plot continuity.* Disney can have its movies be whatever the fuck they want them to be, but they're hamstringing themselves by trying to attach Rey to all of them. Luke wasn't this important to his own story. Star Wars is able to exist away from Luke and Anakin and Rey.
Star Wars is like a video game adaptation. The creators of the new version of this thing completely ignore the deeper themes and story bits and go with the surface level stuff, thinking that’s what makes the brand good. No. For Star Wars it was the fantastical adventures with fun characters. For the OT it was samurai films in space, for the prequels it was a political thriller with sci fi elements, along with the overarching story on the failure of systems. The sequels have none of that. It’s all action with a basic plot
I really don't like how they are continuing to push Rey as a character when narratively and from a writing perspective she is one of the worst characters in the franchise and arguably all of fiction. She was written so extremely poorly and irritatingly could do ANYTHING with little to no training or experience. She was basically the anti Luke in every regard because with Luke you saw him training, you saw him facing adversity, you saw him show weakness. and you were there with him the whole way. Later we got Anakin his father who arguably was a much stronger warrior but as a person he was seriously flawed(which narratively is good). Personally I think they should have used the cast of Rebels as the main characters for the sequel trilogy. They were already an established crew with some decent popularity among the fanbase. It would have also been easy to write a better story around Thrawn than what we got with the Ashoka series since the stakes would have been higher than just a normal TV series.
Problem is, everyone knows the name Skywalker. Serious SW fans know the Rebels characters, but the more casual viewer out there wouldn't. A shame, because I loved Clone Wars and Rebels.
@@_gungrave_6802 🤦♂️ She's not a badly written character and she's not a Mary Sue. Some people have a gift for using the Force well without training. Rey is one of them. It's a genetic thing. The extremely vocal minority if goobers like you among the 'Star Wars' fandom that came out of the floodgates after the release of 'Star Wars - Episode 8: The Last Jedi' are what's been wrong with the 'Star Wars' fandom ever since the release of said movie.
@@Optimegatrongodzillayou should give specific examples of characters who use the force well without training. Technically anyone who is force sensitive can figure out little tricks on their own before actual teaching or even tap into it without really realizing it. Luke in ESB force pulls his lightsaber with great effort before training with Yoda, and even after that short bit of training he isn’t a match for Vader. Anakin in PM taps into the force to get better reflexes and reaction speed when he does pod racing and flying without realizing he is tapping into it. There is an episode in the Clone Wars where a force sensitive baby makes his toy float around, it was during the Holocon Heist arc I believe if I remember correctly. The problem with Rey was she was able to pull of a series of mind tricks on a FO stormtrooper with one or two mess ups, resisted force mind probing without any training on how to resist that from a trained and well experienced force user, force pulled a lightsaber away from that same trained and experienced force user and beat him in a lightsaber duel where while she does have experience with a melee weapon, she has none with lightsabers where as the other guy has much more experience using it and during his training with Luke had to have participated in lightsaber duels. There are probably more examples of people figuring out the force for themselves that I either can’t remember or haven’t heard of, but even then the main thing is the amount of time they take to actually get the hang of what they are doing with the force. For instance a random kid can figure out he can make objects float a little bit if concentrates really hard and pull them towards him and after some time he gets the hang of it and uses it to steal food without as much effort as needed when he was first learning. The point is that Rey didn’t even know she was force sensitive until she touched the youngling slayer 9000 (Anakin’s/Luke’s old blue saber) and she didn’t receive any instruction or practice on how to do mind tricks and force pull objects and she did both of those and bested a stormtrooper (who to be fair probably had no mind trick resistance training either) and a force user trained by Luke and Snoke.
@@Optimegatrongodzilla Dude she literally can do anything with basiclaly no training. They don't even show her doing much training at all so she is never really shown to face an adversity which is piss poor writing. This makes her a power fantasy character which adding in the "able to do anything" part and she is literally the narrative definition of a mary sue. People wouldn't have any issue with Ray if she was written properly with flaws, facing adversity, showing actual growth, and other characters storylines weren't sacrificed to give her more screen time. Also to anyone out there reading this the term "mary sue" isn't mysognistic as that is a narrative term often used to describe overpowered poorly written female characters with a male counterpart term to it called gary stu.
The television side have Filioni and Favreau, both which are actually great script writers and directors with a deep knowledge and understanding of the subject matter. Not everything they make are masterpieces but more importantly even their low points are quite decent, meaning they don't really make bad shows. Filler shows or forgettable shows perhaps but not shows that you feel is crap. And that is important because quality matter and it seem the movie side have forgotten that.
I am sorry to say Filloni isn’t as good as you think he is.When directing live action he makes fundamental errors. Hes not awful but there’s a reason he did abina to in for so long.
Filoni is a hack. The problem is a good percentage of Star Wars fans grew up with that damned show. They don’t know there was a clone wars before that show and it was better.
@@brandonking2679 That's my point, he's not awful. None of them are and they both deliver good quality content. Yeah……. How many movies announced over the last ten years? Disney needs to give up. MaReySu is a terribly written character played by an actress of fine demeanor personally but limited at best talent professionally. Disney literally can not continue the “Skywalker” saga. They saw to that when they killed off every member proverbially and literally. Besides, who really wants to see MaReySu “Skywalker” Nee Palpatine take something else she did not earn. Shes got Red 5, the Millennium Falcon, the Lars Homestead, Both light sabers, (destroyed Anakin’s), the Skywalker name (stolen and fraudulently) and is considered in Disney cannon to have sucked the souls out of every Jedi that ever was….. what the hell else do they want to hand her with zero effort? Maybe we can for once see her actually lose a fight? What’s it going to take a force sensitive Zillo Beast? Maybe some unknown remnant can build an ultra, mega, super Sajinn god blue destroyer 4 sun eater dreadnaught with a galaxy destroying ego matter cannon that she can destroy by looking constipated? Or Maybe, just spitballing here, we finally get a Fn and Poe movie since they had total best bud vibes? @ Oh please, my day actually went remarkably well. I just caught Ep 4 of “Skeleton Crew”. That show has something the Rey series lacked the whole time, Fun and adventure. It’s really not sexism it is objective fact. Rey is a terrible character and the “sequel trilogy” will have left anyone including ReyLo’s with a bitter sense of dissatisfaction. It’s over thankfully, and should remain so. White Star needs to learn from the Titanic and build their ships better, not steam at flank speed into ice fields, hire captains with credits, talent or ideally both, and if not at least pack enough life boats. Disney did John Boyega dirtier than the fans they paid 4.1 billion to give the middle finger to. The funny thing is I know a couple misandrist ultra feminists. Even they agree, Rey is just a bad fan fic self insert. With any luck, Daisey Ridley can do the same thing Adam Driver did and get away from the “sequels” at a speed that would make Hahn Solo jealous.
So basically they want to turn SW into a franchise clusterfuck like Marvel, where there's like half a dozen running movie series and a bunch of one-shot movies, that all are intertwined in such a way, that you need to watch literally everything in order to make sense of it? Great. This makes sure that I will never be tempted again to watch a movie in this franchise, much like it killed my interest in Marvel movies, once it was clear that you'd have to watch movies you have no interest in, just to get a full picture of what was going on. Seriously, who enjoys this type of mixing plotlines? All it does is making me feel like I need to do my homework before I can watch a movie. Wanna see Avengers? Well, better watch Captain -Jingoism- I mean Captain America, even if you hate that character with a passion.... you don't want to miss out on some detail that'll become important later on! When watching movies becomes to make sense of other movies becomes mandatory, you've turned my pasttime into a chore, so good luck with that, I'll be over here enjoying movies that don't make it necessary to watch half a dozen vaguely related movies beforehand.
I wouldn't give anything Disney announces too much credit. Like most Hollywood studios these days Disney in no longer in the business of making movies but in the business of convincing investors and bankers to give them money to make movies. The end product isn't important in that environment. Just stalling and dragging the process out while collecting production fees and management charges.
When they said "Rey is the greatest asset we have right now going forward", I just couldn't help but laugh. They've learned nothing. It's not about the characters and actors, it's about the direction, creative vision, subliminal messaging and us actually enjoying Star Wars again. It's isn't all hinging on one character. Star Wars used to be from the mind of a single visionary, whereas now it's from a boardroom. And I'm not saying it cannot work but you need a team to lead the charge and Kennedy doesn't have the fans trust. Dave Filoni should be included but I think a small group should be in charge of Star Wars as a whole so we can get bakc to having coherent stories that feel like they're leading towards something.
The quintessential issue with 'Late Stage' Capitalism. It becomes a disease when it is not reigned in and controlled. Disney became a victim to its' own greed and missed the forest for the trees. Or the trees for the forest perhaps...
They could make Rey finally be interesting if a central plot line is her fighting her Palpatine heritage. She's the child of evil, so bad is literally bred into her, and it should take a massive effort for her to keep it contained. But Disney will probably make more girlpower movies with no drama or character growth, like last time.
Abandon the Skywalker saga, they already dropped the ball, it's done, leave it be, and give up on trying to push Rey. A fresh start, a new Era, new characters, familiar themes, that's their best hope.
It sounds like they're trying to make the sequel trilogy they failed to make the first time. A post war galaxy with the Jedi being built from the ground up again. With the plot for the trilogy being decided on before starting.
People will never be satisfied with that since it essentially amounts to giving the original trilogy characters' storylines to the thinly written ones they created in the sequels. Not interested in Poe as a Han proxy, Rey as a Luke proxy, etc.
Controversial take, but I'd be up for a Rey movie where she travels the world between worlds end ends up preventing the rise of the First Order. The sequels will have both happened, yet were prevented. Some of the characters in them can still be used without the baggage of the sequel events holding the writers back. And people would probably become rather fond of Rey if she erased the deaths of so many beloved characters. Hell, you can even have her be stuck in the new republic era as this enigmatic figure from a time that never was, trying to find a place in a universe she was never born in.
so a sequel that’s also a jojos stone ocean flashpoint universal reset. The idea of it CAN be done, but that talent is not at Disney rn. The best writers they have are the ones working on the Jedi survivor games.
This would mean admitting that the sequel trilogy was a mistake, and Disney doesn't consider it a mistake because it was the first SW that got into China, which is why it made billions
Disney: Ok, hear me out. I know you didn’t like the sequels. Fans: Nooooo…………. Disney: BUT! WHAT IF! Fans: NOOOO…………. Disney: WE MAKE MORE MOVIES! Fans: NOOOO NOOO NOOOO! Disney: OF REY SKYWALKER! Fans: NO! NO! NO! 100 TIMES NO! Disney: I have decided, we are making episodes X, XI, XII part 1 and XII part 2! WITH REY AS MAIN CHARACTER! Fans: *leaves the room*
Just take the legacy Star Wars and work with that material. Wanna continue the skywalker saga? Cast new young Luke, Leila, Han, lando, etc. have them fight Thrawn in a new trilogy as they did in the books.
I see Disney is doubling down on turning Star Wars into an overwhelming clusterfuq of overlapping intertwined character arcs. I don’t need or want to know if Jar Jar’s outcast sibling was Rey’s elementary school teacher and was secret lovers with Grand Moff Tarkin and their hybrid child is the REAL prophesy crotchgoblin of destiny. Just please stop. Also I’ll say it again, Rey was a decent and intriguing character, but the writing failed her potential and she absolutely didn’t need to be related to Palatine. No one wanted that. Just why Disney? You had something interesting and you lit it on fire and its charred body can’t be rehabilitated. Let it die in whatever shred of dignity still remains.

I want it, ngl. I don't hate Rey as a character, and feel that she, like any character, can be improved upon. However, I'd rather it be in a side project before reintroducing her to the world. In the meantime, I think we should focus on a new cast.

There is no Skywalker saga, they managed to kill it in three movies.

So instead of "mando finally starts to get a life and develop a personal goal" we are stuck in the sitcom-mode of baby and Bo rescue mando from easily defeatable threats, encounters and events because he's grossly incompetent now and just hands off things he once valued.

Why on earth would they continue with using Rey’s character? The three main series movies were terrible. Let move on.
Star Wars can never move on until Kathleen Kennedy moves on. And will only over her cold, dead body. She is one bitter, hateful feminist.
The best thing that could happen to Star Wars right now is if it was sold off to someone else.

Disney needs to just sell the IP at this point. Disney SW is no longer profitable
They would never do that. It’s like how Sony will never sell Spider-Man even with all the stinkers they make like Madame Web or Kraven. The IP is just too valuable for merchandising and theme parks, not to mention they can still slip through box office juggernauts every so often. Should have done that in 1999-2005. Prequels could have been done at any time.
"cursed"
Bad management has nothing to do with curses
A curse relating to the Star Wars films? The curse is very simple. In the old Expanded Universe, there was a decade of building up the Jedi Academy from nothing, and making sure that Han and Leia had three children with well established characters. Disney's trilogy decided to make sure that none of that ever happened, and skipped directly to Jacen (Ben) turning to the dark side. Building an expanded universe is like building a pyramid--Del Rey dismantled the pyramid that Bantam built from the top down, whilst Disney tried to build the summit without the base.

Oh look, they FINALLY realized that writers should talk to each other. 🙄
If only they figured that out a decade ago, before Abrams and Johnson squabbled over the sequels.
Oh great. More Star Wars without communication between writers/directors and no overarching vision. Riveting.

@@brandonking2679 He's ok at writing and producing cartoons where not everything has to fit together logically.
Filoni is a hack. The problem is a good percentage of Star Wars fans grew up with that damned show. They don’t know there was a clone wars before that show and it was better.
@@brandonking2679 That's my point, he's not awful. None of them are and they both deliver good quality content. None of their shows will ever win Emmys but they will still be entertaining to watch and none of it will alienate the fans. That's why the TV side of things is, atm, superior to the movie side.
Did you enjoy the Disjointed mess that was the sequel trilogy? No? that is a Goddamn shame, here's another 12 projects made on the exact same idea of "Just let everyone do whatever they want with no coordination, it'll be fine, surely."
Na I’m sure every new character will be a British, brunette who is inexplicably awesome at things she never heard of until thirty minutes ago.
Tell us how you really feel.
Hope your day gets better
With any luck, Daisey Ridley can do the same thing Adam Driver did and get away from the “sequels” at a speed that would make Hahn Solo jealous.
this is why COMMUNICATION IS KEY....
That curse is called disney
The quintessential issue with 'Late Stage' Capitalism. It becomes a disease when it is not reigned in and controlled. Disney became a victim to its' own greed and missed the forest for the trees. Or the trees for the forest perhaps...
They could make Rey finally be interesting if a central plot line is her fighting her Palpatine heritage. She's the child of evil, so bad is literally bred into her, and it should take a massive effort for her to keep it contained.
But Disney will probably make more girlpower movies with no drama or character growth, like last time.
The idea that a woman could possibly have flaws or anything to overcome is anathema to Disney...
@@TheMaleRei and they will NOT learn their lesson as seen in that Snow White trailer.
Rey is a cursed character. Any project with her will flop.
As we all know, the solution to a failing strategy is to double down
Abandon the Skywalker saga, they already dropped the ball, it's done, leave it be, and give up on trying to push Rey. A fresh start, a new Era, new characters, familiar themes, that's their best hope.
Finn's lines in the 9th movie "Rey! Rey!"
Obligatory "Woooo!".
"tHeY fLy nOw?!??!"
I would not be entirely opposed, but it would have to be well-written.
so a sequel that’s also a jojos stone ocean flashpoint universal reset.
@@krystalneko4094 The films did poorly in China, so opening in China wasn’t really a massive success.
Disney: Ok, hear me out. I know you didn’t like the sequels.
Fans: Nooooo………….
Disney: BUT! WHAT IF!
Fans: NOOOO………….
Disney: WE MAKE MORE MOVIES!
Fans: NOOOO NOOO NOOOO!
Disney: OF REY SKYWALKER!
Fans: NO! NO! NO! 100 TIMES NO!
Disney: I have decided, we are making episodes X, XI, XII part 1 and XII part 2! WITH REY AS MAIN CHARACTER!
Fans: *leaves the room*
Disney: The fans are sexist!
Can't wait not to watch it.
Either redo episodes 7-9, the way George Lucas wanted it (or close to) or bet big money that fans wont see it or buy the crappy merchandise.
He had restrictions in the first three movies and none during the prequels, and it shows. Your savior is none.
@@Dreagostini He did and I'm not blaming him. I'm blaming Disney for ruining the franchise. Judging from the overwhelming responses on a plethora of videos, many share my sentiment.
@@JOHN-hf9ow You mean all those people who yell "WOKE" and "DEI" into the void? Do you want to associate with those people now who believe that women and brown people make media inherently bad because it just is so? If you, I feel very sorry for you.
On the other hand.. do you know why we got Ewoks in the first trilogy instead of Wookies? Because George Lucas wanted that sweet, sweet Merchandise Deal. Quality always tanks when monetary gain is in the room.

Theres really nothing left to explain at this point.
Willingly blind. There's nowhere to take Rey, as no one wants it, EXCEPT THEM. Fail, Rey movies, gloriously fail. Looks like the message hasn't been received yet.
I want Rey
What message would that be?
When George Lucas was criticized for Jar Jar Binks, he found a solution for the next movies. Here Disney is focused on ... how they can use Rey MORE???
Darth Jar Jar could have worked in Lucas had someone to tell him “no” to some things.
