Yeah it's no doubt that mobile games can print money especially from a lot of mindless whales but I could totally see Destiny's already irate fanbase being further pissed off that not only has the attention of the core game been stolen for other pet projects and the experience in D2 suffering from time to time, but to have stuff in a mobile game that arguably could've been in the core game is going to feel a bit crappy. I think it's clear though Bungie's top brass is looking to cash out hard on this plane in a downward spiral. I genuinely cannot see Destiny 2 getting some big upswing that improves upon much or fundamentally changes and innovates anything.
That would be cool if for a season they did one-off missions or a pack of missions with other playable characters, like Zavala, Ikora, or older characters. If we loaded in with a fixed loadout with a small set of gear options and experienced a short story in that way. On console/PC, not mobile.

What would be better is if it were a lower fidelity port of Destiny 2 that were cross save enabled with the other platforms. That way, if you just wanted to bounce around a patrol for a few minutes working on a bounty, you could do that, and then put it down and that progress carried over to when you are back on a console or PC. That, or if a person who had never played Destiny before could try it for a little bit on a phone, then say "cool, I like this, I'll play on my other formal platform of choice." But this is apparently a full new game, and frankly... I anticipate that Destiny Rising, while carrying the Destiny name and some of the gameplay flow, will end up being far too much a departure to truly capture what regular Destiny players want from "more Destiny content." The sessions will either be too short to really capture Destiny players' interests, or too long to be adequately played on a phone, and unless it has a console and/or PC client (like Diablo Immortal does, for all its flaws), really not sure how much longevity it'll have. I mean, I've heard from so many players that they "don't want Destiny 3 because they don't want to lose their vaults." Okay. Well, here's a new Destiny game...your vault isn't accessible. Interested to see if that captures players. Also, if Marathon is going to be deemed DOA simply because "it's hero characters not customizable lol," how is this also not DOA?
today mobile games can't be taken seriously. because of the format and/or template they use, heavily monetized, ingame currencies, daily timeouts, intentionally slow progression and timegating. the developers need to take mobile seriously and not as just a cheap infinite money glitch device if they want gamers to use phones in any meaningful way. we had alot of handheld gaming devices in the past so it isn't out of this world for games to actually work on a phone.

Weapon and armor mods in loot boxes and consumable. Shaders also consumable like D2 vanilla. Pay to reroll weapon perks with perks like reconstruction and bait and switch having a 0.3% chance to appear, while perks like genesis and disruption break will be like 30%. Exotics fully purchasable for $99 while earning them would take 300 hours of grind. You have energy letting you attempt the raid 5 times a day for free but if you pay to refill it, you also get a 50% damage buff on all weapons and abilities, without the buffs everyone will have to be frame perfect on dps with perfect godrolls to do enough damage to kill boss. Xp boosts purchasable for 3-4x xp because it takes 1 million xp per level starting at level 5(gotta get you hooked on the first few, which are like 50k xp). This is how I imagine a Destiny game made by Diablo Immortal developers going.

What if this mobile game contained within it a gem that hasn't been present since Destiny 1, and it turns out to be exactly what players have wanted from Destiny 2 for all these years? Then we can all load up Destiny Rising on our mobile devices and place them all in the ground and wait for a tree to grow that has copies of Destiny 3 hanging from it that we can finally harvest and be at peace.
Shadowgun Legends reminds me of Destiny a little with its hub that you can walk around in 3rd person where you can visit vendors and other players. The gameplay is a FPP and has PvP/dungeons lite that you can do after you level up high enough. You can get their version of engrams and gear on missions or buy them with in game currency or gold which you can either purchase or earn through playing other games and earning gold. I’m curious to see what mobile Destiny looks like but I don’t have high hopes until we can see actual gameplay or play it ourselves.
They should acknowledge this game and start marketing for it if they want to get new players(outside of US makert) for new entry of the Destiny 2 saga in 2025.
This was a stupid idea. Id get it if they were expanding destiny 2 to support playing on mobile. But I can't imagine any people grinding on their phone
I didn't know there were THIS desperate for cash. Although I'm skeptical about this, seems like Sony's attempts to onboard new people to the franchise(with a mobile game and Frontiers seeming like a soft relaunch) have already begun to take root.
This is the same thing with Activision: Bungie did stupid decisions and blame it on others. Watch them try to do historical revisionism saying the mobile game was a Sony decision
@@Cheabs netease deal came through in Jan 2019 but the first leak for the mobile game they were making came out in 2022 so this has prob been in development just as the Sony deal went through. So I think it's a fair assessment that this is part of Sony's way of running destiny as a business and doubling down on new player onboarding.
You raise a good point about avoiding a Diablo Immortals situation by announcing during a very negative period - as well as what you are saying about how easy it could be to surpass the low bar of expectations. I imagine they would announce it as a tag-along in one of their episode-announcement livestreams/vidocs, I can't imagine them trying to make it the only announcement. Hopefully the longer they are waiting, the shorter the window to release can be. I really hope they don't make it a typical mobile game with an energy or time-based lockout. But I am laughing at everyone who is complaining about the microtransactions - they just want something for free with no strings attached, and you certainly aren't going to get that from any high-profile developer/publisher game, much less Bungie who has laid off hundreds in the past year and is in scorching hot water with Sony over failed projections.
They can't fix their MAIN GAME 😕 But you want me to invest in their mobile game 🤡🤡🤡 I'll give them another chance in 2026, once sony finish cleaning house.
They need to do this or at least do what immortal did make it mobile/pc compatible, they loose a lot of the audience because destiny 2 has so much content it's hard to know where and what to do. A mobile game would be good imo at least for a decent % of the non hardcore players that want to play but not spend hours to figure out what is good and just feel disconnected from the community because you do not play it enough.
I'm going to say the obvious: If Destiny's audience skews old(er), how many of us are going to play games on our phones? The most advanced mobile games I play are X-Runner and Fruit Ninja.
I actually dont mind phone games and I loved Diablo Immortal until the endgame smacked me in the face with its nearly mandatory micro transactions. It kept me sane while on baby duty with my newborn. Mobile FPS games, however, are a different story for me. I feel like most of the ones I've played all have some sort of auto aim feature that makes gameplay trivial. And stuff like dodging or throwing grenades can feel pretty awkward as well. I also hope they add controller support. Surprisingly, a lot of mobile FPS games dont have the option for it. I guess we'll see, tho. I'll at least play it at launch, regardless. I usually give all these games a fair shot.
Imagine playing as some of the most iconic characters in Destiny's lore in a goddamn Mobile game 😑. The only way this game sees any interest/player retention, at least in America, is if it's also on PC similarly to Diablo Immortal, because for all the bullshit that has surrounded Diablo Immortal, it was the first Diablo game to have WASD movement, and it actually played pretty well on PC. Also, Mobile tech has progressed for sure, but Idk man, I've got an iPhone 15, a phone that is said to be THE BEST device for Mobile Gaming (and ironically the iPhone 16 now holds that claim), but yet in just a few mins of playing any games, even simple Apple Arcade games, my phone feels like it's gonna explode.
Imagine going into a dps phase but you have to watch an Applebee's ad before damage

I wouldnt say skeptical more like we don't want imagine the resources being wasted on a mobile game that will more than likely die in less than a year
Fold6 guy here. Bring it on bungie and hurry up!
I would never play a mobile game like that, but if others want to waste their money then good for them.
The Architect will not be killing me on mobile 😂😂😂
I cannot physically express how not keen I am to try this game out. I will never get this game
Diablo immortals was really good for a mobile game in terms of actual gameplay. The monetization on the other hand was heavy handed
i'll try it, ten years of my life have been spent on destiny, why not? actually looking forward to it a bit.
Might be worth getting a UPS for your PC if you have power outages there sometimes.
This mobile game has been in development since Forsaken...
This is the same thing with Activision: Bungie did stupid decisions and blame it on others. Watch them try to do historical revisionism saying the mobile game was a Sony decision
@@Cheabs source?
@@dimshds previosu paul tassi video + any other source that specifies a timeline. I dont got exacts I just remember it coming out of Paul's mouth
I cant wait when they drop “The Great Hunt” event
The only way this works is if they optimize it for console and PC. They gotta follow suit from games like Genshin, fortnite, etc
“Wait 3 weeks for the new dlc or pay 300 dollars to play now!”
Buy a UPS so you have time to save content in the future.
This reeks of greed…micro transactions abound !!!
Desperation and greed.
I'm going to say the obvious: If Destiny's audience skews old(er), how many of us are going to play games on our phones? The most advanced mobile games I play are X-Runner and Fruit Ninja.
Give it dedicated servers, I f%cking dare you Bungie.
I don’t normally hope for games to fail. But I cannot think of any other fate that this nothing burger of a project deserves.🤢🤮
They're really not avoiding the mini acti-blizz accusations are they
Of course it's gonna be gatcha, come on man it's the best earning business model out there. Prepare to pull for Mara.
Mobile gaming? Pete must REALLY want another new vintage car.
I would have more confidence in it if it wasn’t Netease.
I'm pretty sure Bungie has had this mobile game in the works for a while. Swear this was talked about 5 years ago
I'd rather hope then already write it off
I actually dont mind phone games and I loved Diablo Immortal until the endgame smacked me in the face with its nearly mandatory micro transactions.
If we don’t create our own character I’ll pass
I would take a Raid style Destiny game no problems
Imagine trying to play a destiny like game but on a 4 inch screen with like 5 ft by 5ft map. Then an add every 2 or 3 minutes😂😂
If it doesn't support controller input then I'm not interested tbh
I'm not going to lie the older I get the less time I have, a mobile game would work well with me
Its straight up embarrassing to be a destiny player in any capacity. How anyone can support this is wild to me.
Maybe some of us aren't that dumb to think mobile = bad
@@ZHibiki mobile =/= bad.
Mobile = 95% chance of being bad.
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined, What a waste
I feel like a mobile game of destiny could actually work and be enjoyable. Just look at CODM or Genshin Impact
Would be funny to play all those characters, not mentioning cayde 6? even it was killed twice in this game
Destiny Falling.
sound like a fun game to play on my 13” ipad pro
Get you a UPS for your computer! Even a lower end one would at least allow you to save and shut down if your power goes out. Idk...I'm a nerd....
