    I have the hanging circular needle organizer with the sizes printed on it. Don't remember where I got it, but I have had it for years. I love being able to go get the size needle I want easily. I hung a needle size gauge on it with an old stitch holder that looks like an oversized safety pin, so I can double check when I put them back in - or take one out to make sure it wasn't misfiled.

    The way I deal with my stitches if I want to try it on without loosing my stitches. I have two needles the same size. I knit half the stitches on to the second needle. Then I can try on what I'm working on without loosing stitches. Then I just knit across and knit them all back on to the one needle. Love the magnified stitch gage counter.

    Tayler, I too thought that the Circular Solution circular knitting needle storage unit on Amazon was the exact thing I was looking for after having perused Etsy for something ideal and not finding what I was desiring. I have a feeling that it is an independent maker selling through Amazon's platform (though no proof) since I ordered this on March 8 and have yet to receive it. Hopefully, this just means that this indie maker is doing well but it also means that there is a market out there for someone to make MORE of these! 😊 LOVE your podcast. Thank you.

    You could easily make the travel tool kit for a lot less than $40. You probably have all these items on hand. I tend to DIY my stuff so I store my circular needles in pencil bags with holes on the size in a large binder. The bags can be purchased at the Dollar Tree and binders are on sale at Walmart when school starts. You can also find binders at Thrift stores on occasion. I tend to want to repurpose items if possible. Finally, isn’t the tubing just another version of the Barber cords that have been around for a long time?

    • @WOOLNEEDLESHANDS
      @WOOLNEEDLESHANDS  Рік тому

      I’m of the opinion that you can diy and repurpose loads of things that you would otherwise spend more for in a shop. However, I love supporting ingenuity and small businesses and that’s a major reason I produced this video. That being said, a video on DIY knitting gadgets may be in order so we can go down that rabbit hole as well. 👍

    There are other options for the tubing you're talking about. There is the famous "barber cord" that everyone is talking about and using, although it's quite expensive. You can also buy some Pony Bead Lacing from Michaels at a fraction of the price and you get miles of it. Thanks for the interesting suggestions!

      Yes! I hear a lot about barber cord. Is that hollow tubing? I know the significance of this is that it’s hollow so you can slip it on your needle tips. I need to look into the barber cords. Thank you!

    I have 2 of the Circular Solution sleeve-needle-storage units hanging in my closet - the tabs at the top go around the bottom bar of a coat hanger. They are great! I can always find the size I need. Since I pull each needle through until it’s centered, I can also tell which cables are longer by how far down the tips hang.

    All my "tool" kits are actually makeup bags that I purchased at a 2nd hand store - however, they were unused and I didn't even have to wash them. there are so many zippers and elastic pockets which were used for different size brushes, I think.

    I have “Barber Cords” for transferring stitches from my needles. The cords come in many colors and in a set of 3. One long one to hold the body stitches, and two to hold the stitches from each sleeve. Hate to say this, but I think the ones that you have found are a knock off of the Barber Cords. Anyway, I have used them many times with great success.

    Be CAREFUL with ceramic buttons!!!! They can be very heavy and will pull your button band totally out of shape so your button band ends up looking very wavy. Check to see how much they weigh and bear in mind how "firm" your button band is. Sorry if I am bursting your bubble Tayler!!
