I had a gameplay loop of doing a story quest or 2 then go to a treasure chest, explore, and go on a hunting trip for a day or 2 camping and selling the pelts. I would read by the fire every night for a couple hours. I loved it. I would always look forward to a hunting trip, so relaxing. So many ways to advance your character as you llay. One of my favorites!!

The ingame maps are so beautiful in this game. I also like that they are somewhat abstract which means the game encourages you to explore to find interesting places.

Absolutely, the maps are freakin' amazing :)

@@Renfail The whole UI and lore dialogue etc is handled wonderfully. Exceptional job from the team.

Quick hidden tip for anybody who wants to speed level the sword and combat skills: ask bernard to practice combos, then spam any combo you've unlocked that isn't the one you're supposed to do over and over again until the practice round ends. It's kind of cheesy but you can get like 10 level ups within 15 minutes.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but there are also several maps you can find that lead you to treasure chests across the map. Another aspect in common with RDR2.

My second run was my favorite of the two. I allowed myself to really slow down and take advantage of everything the game was providing. A very, very different experience.

You really need to test out the alchemy crafting. It's the coolest game mechanic in the entire game. I would play this game just to crafting potions.

Yep, alchemy is so well made. I had quite hard times with it at first bit now I am master Alchemist-er 😅

How many video games are there where you can sit by a hearth on a rainy evening and just relax and read a book? Because that's totally a thing you can do in this game.

Hal, you need to learn letters. Yes, you've made it thus far in your short life without, but now it's time to rise above your previous station. Alchemy, Aristotle, and St. Francis await! Just think how impressed the monks will be!

This would be a cool game if it wasn’t constantly setting you up to fail. I tried my best to do the quest for Johanka in the monastery and it was the most depressing thing I’ve ever played. From out of nowhere the game tells you to tell her you can’t do more for anyone, the quest fails, people are dead and everyone hates you. I’m excited to do stuff but honestly the game makes me wonder why I’m doing this to myself when I feel worse after playing it. I’ll have to probably start again and do the main quest first then maybe side quests never more than one at a time.

You should never do more than one quest at a time in any game, period.

@ well I took them on here because it was a way to save the game. The save schnapps is super expensive.

One of the best games I’ve ever played, yet it was underappreciated at the time of its release. The realism is even more immersive (IMO) than in games like Skyrim or The Witcher, for example.

I still have this game on my Steam wishlist (too much of a backlog in my bought games so I'm restricting myself from buying anything new atm 😁) but holy smokes, that map is beautiful! 😍
