  • Andy Griffith, in an interview with Morning Exchange in 1972, talks about his role in the film, "A Face In The Crowd." He plays a character named Lonesome Rhodes, who is eerily similar to Donald Trump.

@@rockvilleraven I wholeheartedly agree with you, my friend - any remake of "A Face in the Crowd" would never be as good as the original. and I believe that's because Andy Griffith played the character of Larry "Lonesome" Rhodes so very well.

@@MegaJustGeorge And you can see it it in Andy's facial expressions during this interview - all those aspects of Lonesome Rhode's character. He's the only guy who could ever play him. Just as Angela Lansbury was the only one who could play the mother in the original Manchurian Candidate. Meryl Streep is a hell of an actress, maybe the best ever, but she couldn't come close to Angela in the remake. But Face in the Crowd is such a great story - and, yeah, timely - so I'd be curious to see it just as I was for the Manchurian Candidate remake.

The crowd may follow anyone who promises them the world without question. We as critical thinkers should raise many qustions pertaining to what kind of individuals we admire or even elect into office. Typical humans . Only hearing and seeing what they wish. The interviewer asks "Who is this man? " The answer is Larry Rhodes. Griffith is talking about his role in the movie "A Face in the Crowd.
A young radio producer named Marcia Jeffries finds a charming town drunk named Larry Rhodes (Andy Griffith) and puts him on the air. Soon, Rhodes' local popularity gets him an appearance on television in Memphis, which he builds himself into a national network celebrity. He uses it to endorse a presidential candidate for personal gain. But because of his ego and womanizing things begin to fall apart.
Isolating Griffith's words from context might sound like he is predicting a future a Trump,Obama, or Hiliary but doesnt mention any names.
But if you really wish to find life imitating art try the Season one, episode 30 of "Trackdown" 1958.
A salesman by the name of Walter Trump peddles the idea of building a giant wall, which he claims would protect the towns people from a catastrophic cosmic event.
People are so convinced that they need the wall, they begin to rob the bank to pay for it.
At the end of this trackdown episode ,Trump is arrested by a Texas Ranger played by actor Robert Culp.(Robert Mueller) Later, Trump is shot and killed by a man named "Barron"(Barron Trump is the son of Donald Trump) who helped Trump to deceive the towns people.
Very weird!...Especially when names, promises, and attitudes almost ( not quite) mirror what we see in this country today. But no worries. It is just a movie.
