I’m a Republican who doesn’t like Trump and whom has great respect for the former Senator from Minnesota. Let’s not make Generalizations about an entire party and the people who vote one way or another before making sure we have interviewed all 320+ million people in this country.
@@bpg5591 Agreed. I try my best not to pigeonhole any one person based on their party affiliation. The disdain I have for the right is the same I have for the left in many matters. I'm just wishing common sense would prevail, regardless of party lines.
Yeah, Democrats were insanely way too fast to pull the trigger on this guy. I will never forget or forgive what Kirsten Gillibrand did in her own pursuit for power and fame. Franken should be in the Senate right now, if not president. He could have totally won in 2020, possibly even 2016, if he had never been kicked out of the Senate.
@Mr. Shlock Dude. You need to a pick up a book, your ignorance is showing. Let's educate the rest of America... just because you're not born on the "mainland" does not your mean you're not american. Thank you for your time, god bless you and your family.
@Mr. Shlock Nobody is triggered by you..we pity you. The highest percentage of Americans that use food stamps by race are Whites, at 37%. Puerto Rico still uses the same block system for food stamps as the one Reagan introduced in 1982.
@Mr. Shlock You dragged race into it when you equated Puerto Ricans to taking up 50% of our country's food stamps, which is simply inaccurate. Sorry, I was dumbing myself down to the race baiting talking point you just spewed out about a few comments ago..one that's both inaccurate and also specifically perpetuated by right wing media to make you believe that immigrants or people who aren't white are ruining the economy when in fact they contribute to the fastest growing portion of new small businesses and economic upward trajectory. Try getting your information from reputable sources instead of Facebook ads next time. Unlike you, I read the Wall Street Journal, NYT, the Post, and Fox (the journalism part, not the opinion shows).
Sonia Sotomayor is from the hood in the bronx and I lived in that neighborhood. The incredible odds during the time period to become who she has become can give you just a glimpse of an incredible person she is. She makes puerto ricans proud.
Well, first of all, by taking a job as a Senator, he's potentially making a lot less than he could in show business, and if one were inclined to give him the benefit of a doubt, one could argue that he doesn't dislike this country at all -- that, in fact, he loves it, and joined the Senate to help improve it. Not that I'm making excuses for his voting record or failure to do more than he has. And the last time I was at Mickey Ds, I got a More Than Happy Meal.
Agreed. They do make it easier to be the only moderate liberal in my family. I'm socially liberal, but my family is full of Republicans. But I hear some of them spew that Glenn Beck/ Rush Limbaugh hate and I just think: Can't you think for yourself? Its OK to be a Republican because you believe in being a conservative and adhering the the Constitution on issues. But listening to them is just sad. Very poor Americans for such rich men.
This was American some 11-some years ago. Politicians speaking to one another as people, citizens, asking why they have a zeal to serve the American public. No partisan rifts, no agenda...just a desire to see if the person behind the robe could identify with you and me, not corporations or political headship.
Al Franken was a great question-asker when he served in the senate. If you watch carefully, he tried to be non-partisan, and he took his job very seriously. He was wrongly forced out.
So I did some searching and I was surprised to learn that there were 271 episodes (9 seasons) of Perry Mason! Wow, Game of Thrones is made by slackers. Anyway, there were actually 4 cases Perry lost. Here is the excerpt from Wikipedia with the names: "The Case of the Terrified Typist" (episode 1-38), "The Case of the Witless Witness" (episode 6-28) and the much-hyped "The Case of the Deadly Verdict" (episode 7-4)[k] are episodes in which Perry Mason loses cases in some form or manner.[30] He has implicitly lost a capital case in "The Case of the Desperate Daughter" (episode 1-27)
@Robert Hunt I was a Republican and realized I would never follow a man as reprehensible as Trump. I am civil. Always have been except for the 20 years I served my country in the U.S. Army. We are all human beings. You, apparently, think anyone who doesn't have the same belief system as you, are somehow the enemy. The enemy isn't Blue or Red. The enemy is in our hearts. The enemy is hate. We weren't put on this planet to hate and be evil. We were put on this planet to take care of each other and love each other. I am guessing this message will fall on deaf ears and blind eyes.
I don't agree with any of his politics but I have alot of respect for him. He is honest and asks tough questions of our leaders in these committees to try to give leverage to his side.
Loss was overturned in case of deadly verdict. Terrified typist had an imposter. Not on Mason's record. While the guy was guilty, that wasn't who mason was hired to defend and he would have a different trial under his own name and my understanding is Perry Mason wasn't going to defend him in that trial.
According to The Perry Mason TV Show Book, the unbeatable defense attorney actually did lose three cases (that we know about) during his career. In Mason loses a non-murder case, a “matter of civil law,” the site notes. In Mason’s client is found guilty of murder, but he eventually manages to clear her name anyway. Last but not least in Perry’s client is found guilty of murder and is sentenced to death in the gas chamber.
I am frustrated they didn't point out the prosecutor's FULL name Hamilton Burger, as Red Green noted, and every week Perry Mason made hamburger out of the guy.
Didn't Perry Mason get his first and only convicted client free in a later episode? I believe it was a case of "losing the battle, but winning the war."
Not really. I am 82, so remember when they were funny without any politics. Now it is all politics. I had to stop. And I am mostly apolitical, being a retired army colonel who was imbued with being apolitical. I miss the coneheads, the van down by the river, baba wawa, the sand shark, whatever. It's gone. Too bad. I read about their back-stage stuff, and they were not the nicest people to one another, and they did drugs, so it was not all sweetness and light.
Thing about Franken being a former comedian is he's been a pretty boring senator. Even his campaign was a run of the mill, dull affair. (It helped that his opponent, Senator Norm Coleman, was a weak candidate). Even his TV appearances on late night TV during the campaign were super dull. Thing is, I think his dullness is on purpose. He's keeping his "SNL" side in check, keeping his powder dry so when Republicans come after him, his quick wits will have more impact.
We have done some research and after much analysis we have come to the conclusion that, No, he has not ever, in his entire life, spoke or written anything that even vaguely resembles comedy as we know it in America. Thank you for your you question, JUSTANOTHERENGINE. The United States Dept. of Humor Resources

Franker was run out of the Senate for some minor behavior while DT gets cheered for far worse. That is one of the differences between the 2 parties.
He was run out of the senate because Trump disliked him! Simple and clear!
