If i can make a quick recommendation, to get a good seal the first time, and to have less of a chance for the adapter/chain popping off under pressure - Face the J-hooks away from the reservoir. Don't face them inwards.
I did not get to use my Smotive pro which is similar to this right away. Now that I want to use it it won't pump. The plastic plunger thing inside must have shrunk and hardened.
@@TheDurbinCompound Your video inspired me to deal with it a little bit longer and was able to bleed the system this morning. Thanks for posting and keep up the good honest work. Is all we can do 👍🏼
Have that same bleeder w BMW screw cap. Works perfect. Was considering that universal adapter cap but may bite the bullet and buy the Power Probe BA10 cap for Toyota.
I was interested in this and thanks to your video, I'm gonna stick to the classic self bleeder technique. Had my 6 year old pump the brakes while I cracked the bleeder. To hell with all these "fancy" tools
thank you very much for posting! i was thinking that's how it works... just a lot easier to see it done first. be nice if they had a screw on adapter cap
Dude next time just get an adapter cap that fits your car, and for god's sake use a reservoir and a hose before you open that nipple. You get that fluid all over your brake pads and you have to change them again. Nice video quality though. Those universal caps are crap.
Get the correct cap attachment that's made for your vehicle, no fuss, no drama. When you crack open the bleed port, have a hose on the end going to a container so you don't make a mess or contaminate the brake pads with brake fluid. I had to stop watching when I saw that he just cracked the bleed port open and let the fluid just go everywhere.
"It is great but, after over paying for this glorified, job specific, bug sprayer with a gauge on it (new)... I had to seal the gauge to the tank and I always have a big mess at the reservoir even though I always manually add sealant to the gaskets". Yeah... ummm either you got paid for this video or you are the easiest to please / most forgiving human on the planet. Also, if you had googled, I am 99% sure that you would find out that petroleum jelly and oil based grease ultimately degrades rubber (should not be used on the gasket).
A pressurized container with brake fluid.... recipe for disaster. A bit more pressure>> hose/lid pops out >> splashing pressurized fluid all over >>> all paint and anti-rust gone.
The universal is a piece of junk. Spilled over 1 qt. of fluid because it didn't make a good seal. But with a dedicated adapter, the system is fantastic. I called Motive last week to ask them for an adapter for my Titan pickup, but they never got back to me. I will go to Home Depot and get a piece of rubber stock and cut it out to fit inside the universal adapter head to make a seal that works. The hard plastic universal adapter is not good enough. It needs some soft rubber inside to make a good seal. Its not rocket science. Too bad Motive couldn't figure this out. They have a good product otherwise.
Worst adapter kit I have ever seen. Not sure why the company can’t make custom caps for every major brand car? Just buy lemon caps and do a 5 minute modification and sell it for 2 to 3x. The engineering talent seems nonexistent at the company.
Motive has yet to make an adapter that's specific for some Acura and honda models. I had to use this universal adapter for my TSX but have used the specific motive screw caps for BMW, Alfa Romeo, and other european models.
Your supposed to pressure it DRY first to prevent and see if it will hold pressure BEFORE you try to use it wet.
Good to see I am not the only one that has problems with new tools , , so real , cheers

so you fluid now contaminated with Vaseline?
Thanks for the vid man. I was specifically looking for one that shows how to secure the universal cap. 👍
It’s a pain in the butt sometimes! You’re going to fight with it!
yes thank very much!
Pump up to 10-15psi when it’s empty first to check for a good seal
Ah! Good point!
How long should it seal for?
I usually give it around 3-5 minutes.
Wait, so you put Vaseline on that black silicone diaphragm, and not just where cap clips on to?

I had the same problem with the universal adapter. Buying the right cap next.
I use this thing so rarely that i usually just suffer with the horrible universal cap!

Thanks for focusing on how to deal with that universal adapter - it's a major reason to consider this power bleeder.
That adapter is a pos, also am always worried am gonna brake the reservoir with the pointy parts of the chain
@@gigi9467 cut a small rubber hose and place on chain won’t cut into plastic
I just use the screw on cap reservoir with that hose. Never had an issue.
for a honda?
wait - you just let the fluid run on the ground? How dumb

The universal cap is a pretty big pain in the butt some times. I need to get the screw caps for each vehicle.

While I'm setting up that pump I'd let the Caliber gravity please By taking the The whole bleed Valve out

they do - the have dozens of different ones u just order the one for your car

So much for couldnt be easier. That universal adapter is cheesy....
My PTSD Made me stop watching
My universal cap was leaking like crazy today, it was fine the first two times. I'll try vaseline or white lithium grease as you mentioned!

You already had to modify a brand new bleeder? I'll look elsewhere . Good grief.
better solution is to buy the correct adapter for that vehicle
Well that was a fucking fail LOL, What a mess
no you don't gotta love it. not when it leaks all over the engine bay, floor and yourself.

Maybe the title shouldn’t say “easiest” 😂
