very nice vid, its almost certain the oil drain holes behind the piston rings will still be clogged, very hard to get that carbon out of those tiny holes. So its likely the issue will come back fairly soon, have to clean out those little holes behind the oil rings.
But how to do that? that is the big question, I have a theory on how it might be done, I haven't tried this but here goes:
Mix seafoam/redline in oil ( high concentration as possible)
Fill oil to a very specific level ......just below piston top face.....when piston is at bottom of stroke ( when engine is turned over the oil will hit the inner side of the piston and clear those clogged oil holes, that is the theory)
Engine needs to be cranked at low rpm for how long is the question, I'm guessing that using just starter motor for power, it might need to be rotated for 12 hours or more.....this is the tricky part to solve.
    Please consider this idea
To really solve the issue, requires take out pistons and drill more oil holes, and make the ones that are already there bigger in diameter, this is source of the problemo.

You do realize you need a battery charger on battery when doing a compression test, because by the time you get to last cylinder the charge on the battery is a lot lower especially on a V12. 😉
Starter’s draw a lot of current even more when hot.
A good point to sell customers on regular maintenance not the recommended one but the extreme one which is what there short trip condition calls for.
    Very good video. 👍

Toyota sells revised short block engines for $2300 or so, which is the only real fix for this oil consumption issue.

berrymans seems to be best at dissolving carbon, seafoam/redline and berrymans might be even more effective mix

When you say crank the engine after 12 hrs, do you mean put all the spark plugs back in and then crank the engine? Also when you say continue in 2 to 4 days depending on how bad the rings are stuck do you mean in 2 days start putting the cleaner in each cylinder again every 12 hrs, or is the interval 1st time wait 12 hrs, second time, wait 2 days, third time wait 2 days? And do you crank the engine after each time?

If the cylinder walls are scored/ scratched, this will do little good if any. Toyota does not provide a way to fix the cylinders. They supposedly make a new ring/ piston kit for some engines, but it is not cost effective.

    • @robertthomas2942
      @robertthomas2942 Рік тому +3

The cylinders are never scored/scratched. The oil rings were a poor design coupled with not enough and too small drainback holes in the piston oil ring groove. For under $800 and a weekend, you can install the new pistons/rings. It's not a particularly difficult engine to work on. Given what used cars are going for it is most certainly cost effective.

Please watch previous video (Sticky Rings detergent) you will get the idea.
VVT gear on very first toyota engines has designed poorly.
I will check VVT noise at cold start on 2 weeks update.
(I used seafoam very carefully in crankcase at start of video),
I did it because of cleaning oil passages on piston and carbon

That might be the sign of some kind of a faulty system like catalytic converters due to the prolonged oil burn. those lights as you mentioned is toyota way of warning you and is kind of its way to bring you to a stop. Have read people are using BG Products EPR . Pouring into their oil before an oil change . Running the engine at idle at 2000 RPM for ten minutes , then changing oil and filter . I suppose maybe doing this a few times to clean out gunk around piston rings .
