I liked what you explained at the end basically explaining "inaccurate empathy" towards people with disabilities. This is a deep topic which needs to be talked about WAY MORE- how their weakness are projected onto them by everyone and it makes it worse. The reality is, humans can be cruel, they also use this to make themselves feel holier than thou. She explained how every clinician around her after the birth, was highlighting the negative, and how she just wanted them to stop, and leave her to rejoice to her precious child. To her this baby was so very special, she saw it completely different. She also explained that her childs life still had value, and we shouldn't be defined/deemed worthy by our future possible careers.

I'm a very empathic person yet I hold back a lot of what I want to say or do for the very said reason. I've also met a lot of "empathic Charlatans" in my time whom I'll I always speak up against or report them if I believe a vulnerable person may be at risk. It's sad that we have to be so untrustworthy of even those close to us. People say it's a modern problem but like everything else it's just not swept under the rug these days. How could a producer of Divorce Court, Jerry Springer, The Rosie O'Donnell Show, Sally Jessy Raphael, The Steve Wilkos Show & The Tony Danza Show have $1.4 million in debt?

I once worked with a psychology major, she was obtaining her bachelor's in social work. She frequently came to work black eyed and bruised. She'd simply state "I deserved it". She, and her fiance lived in the apartment above our offices. We often heard it all....
This case reminds me of how my siblings viewed me from 18 to 28 when i had grand mal seizures frequently. My mom told me they wanted her to put me in the mental hospital. People who are disabled should be aware that abuse can occur and in this case death resulted by agreeing to live with a sibling whos life was crumbling. My seizures ended with medicine and from then on i strove to support and build my own life. Im polite but i do NOT visit my siblings. I prefer that. Rip Wendy. The woman got away with murder, because her family didnt value Wendy.
Such important statements made at the end. Unfortunately this affects animals the most. The fact that animals have a stronger sense of survival than human beings is entirely overlooked. They cope without complaint as well. RIP to the dogs she supposedly loved , and to the sister. A quality video once again.
There is a famous study that looked at the lives of two groups of people. One group consisted of people suffering a catastrophic injury that left them paraplegics or quadriplegics. The other group had won the lottery. After one year, 50% of the first group (those living with a life-changing disability) reported that they were happy and loved their lives. Also, after a year, 50% of the people who'd won the lottery said they were miserable and wished they'd never won the lottery because of all the negative changes it brought to their lives. They'd lost friends, were constantly hounded and solicited for money, became reclusive, couldn't trust anyone, etc.
She owed her sister 100k. Sending Wendy away wasn't going to erase that debt. My theory is that the murder was her trying to get out of paying her sister just as much as it was about not wanting to care for her anymore.
@@melissaharris3389she owed over a million to other places. It's unlikely that the comparatively small debt to a family member was a major factor. 13:08 Doc, man, I had to rewatch your epilogue section because you crystallized in my mind the understanding of a phenomenon that I witness far too often but am never able to fully delineate or describe which has prevented me from understanding the mechanisms behind its occurrence properly until now. However, the way you just described it resonated completely with me and now I understand better. Thank you, you are positively great, sir! Excellent work as always. 🤝
Word salad.
Thanks for the timestamp. That epilogue indeed deserved a rewatch and relisten...
👏👏👏💜💜💜

You speech on inaccurate empathy was spot on. I'm going to have to share this. Makes so much sense now.
Appreciate the talk at the end regarding perception of people with disabilities and those who of us who may overestimate our own ability to empathize with others. Very prescient topic.
It's one of the pros for the WWW I guess. 👋 From Portsmouth, UK.
This is scary because i have a chronic illness, i wouldn't want someone to kill me because they want to 'put' me out of my misery
California resident here, for people wondering how you could be a successful TV producer but then be over $1mil in debt...because it's California.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's not the reason.
@chrisfurius her mortgage was 5k on a small 3 bedroom. I've lived in other places in the US, that's not even a thing. Plus the house itself was 1mil lol...for that??? But that's CA
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣stay there
I'd get the hell out of there if I were you.
She’d be $1.4 million in debt if she lived in Boise
How could a producer of Divorce Court, Jerry Springer, The Rosie O'Donnell Show, Sally Jessy Raphael, The Steve Wilkos Show & The Tony Danza Show have $1.4 million in debt?
She didnt have an income problem, she had a spending problem. Many people have this issue.
"Thoughts and Prayers,Thoughts and prayers"

How can successful actors go bankrupt? Yet they do…
It's called 'Retail Therapy'... and probably coupled with some expensive habits.
The same way people 600 million in the lottery and go broke
Jersey is worse than prison. 🤣🤣🤣I love it Doc!!
Inaccurate empathy is rife in modern society, especially with wealthier people thinking they know what is best for poorer people. Their misplaced empathy often makes problems worse.
when i heard in the opening they she was from bayonne … i was just waiting for it 12:46 lol 😆 love you dr. grande merry christmas 🎄 to u and urs from new jersey 💚❤️🇺🇸
Reading this statement clears up any doubts I had about it's authenticity.
@@IonTheSkyy new jersey is awesome. 😎 we have it all. haters be jealous and we get it, we’d be jealous of us too 💪🏼🇺🇸
Your thoughts on disability and our perception of those who have a disability were very insightful. Thank you Dr G
I go out at night, dressed in velour, carrying a flashlight, and ask strangers if they would like to be seated. Most do not. I have Usher's Syndrome. Thanks, Doc.

Thanks for continuing to churn out videos all through the holidays.
I once worked with a psychology major, she was obtaining her bachelor's in social work. She frequently came to work black eyed and bruised. She'd simply state "I deserved it". She, and her fiance lived in the apartment above our offices. We often heard it all....
MERRY CHRISTMAS DR GRANDE !!!!🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Your life is what you make it by making the best of what you have.
Such a simple yet profound statement. Thank you.
Merry Christmas to you and your family Dr Grande🎄🎄🎄
Thanks Dr. Grande. Your videos are a great source of information
New Jersey always catches strays from the good doctor 🤣🤣🤣
Such important statements made at the end. Unfortunately this affects animals the most. The fact that animals have a stronger sense of survival than human beings is entirely overlooked. They cope without complaint as well.
RIP to the dogs she supposedly loved , and to the sister.
A quality video once again.
13:01 hahahahaha can confirm, I grew up in NJ. I did not expect such casual savagery from Dr. Grande though! Well played sir!
Already brought enough pain to the world, New Jersey worse than prison. Todd I'm rolling that's hilarious.
Thank you for the analysis, Dr. Grande!
Your digs at New Jersey are great! Thank you. 😊
Love from NJ, Dr Grande.
😂
My condolences 🤣
Why rescue dogs just to "end" them???
Why not send Wendy & the dogs elsewhere???
Just awful!
She was broke. When money was flowing it's all fun, when you can't pay bills and others are around they become a burden.
💰💰
She owed her sister 100k. Sending Wendy away wasn't going to erase that debt. My theory is that the murder was her trying to get out of paying her sister just as much as it was about not wanting to care for her anymore.
@@melissaharris3389she owed over a million to other places. It's unlikely that the comparatively small debt to a family member was a major factor. It's sounds more like the lady was having known side effects of the drugs she was on and decided to end both their lives and just chickened out at the end.
Haven't watched all yet but a charcoal grill in a garage aka confined space is no Bueno. Carbon-monoxid jumped into my head.
With the garage door closed, that was intentional.
Thank you for the reminder about inaccurate empathy /projection/countertranseference! We MH professionals should always be open to examining our views and whether we are projecting them on to patients instead of learning more about about THEIR views!
With massive debt and no financial motive, I think she was trying to exit but changed her mind.
Idk. Was there life insurance?
She owed her sister 122,000. It was written off during bankruptcy. I am almost sure that this caused animosity.
@@GoAskAlice23
The "don't resuscitate" notes on the trash can; the dogs being included.
This isn't a revenge style and whatever life insurance wasn't going to be enough to change her financial situation or else it would have been mentioned.
@ she is a producer of shows. Image means everything. I suspect that since she is alive and well, it was her plot. And it worked.
"She was a producer for shows like Sally Jessy Raphael, and Jerry Springer. Didn't she already bring enough pain to the world?" 😂😂💀

@@markosmarkos7978 You're up in every thread assuming this about every person that merely quotes this line that Dr. Grande said.
Everybody knows about Springer, and the other exploitative shows like it whether they've actually watched them or not.
Regardless, the vast majority of viewers of that show had no idea just how exploitative it was behind the scenes. That didn't come out until much later.
You're obviously some kid who doesn't have a fully developed frontal lobe, who can only form opinions based in recency bias, or a basement dweller who has nothing else to live for besides trolling.
Maybe both.

One of your best, especially the postscript. And I laughed out loud at producing Springer and Raphael as adding enough cruelty and the Jersey/prison comparison. Bravo.
My son has ushers syndrome. And he's living a happy life. Disabilities are not a bar to living a full life

Thank you for your comments at the end about disability and empathy, very well thought out and expressed, my feelings exactly.

The sister with the successful Hollywood career ended up owing $135,000 to the sister unable to work?
I can´t figure it out either.
Irresponsible money management and bad financial decisions ?
@ I was more shocked the unemployable sister had that amount to loan.
Narcissistic Hollywood career sister maybe.
Thanks!
"Hasn't she brought enough pain into the world?" and "Much worse than prison".... the dead-pan humor of these dark videos is over-the-top.
"I'm the best person I know". Yipes!
Bayonne, New Jersey, the Springer Show. With that kind of class whatever could go wrong?
You'd be surprised how awesome Jersey is! We have had so much talent come from our eclectic little state.
@@andreasmith8052 You mean talent for the Springer show?
@@andreasmith8052 I'm just joking. Some good music has certainly come from NJ. When I was a trucker, all of the USA and Canada, I did notice that the police presence in NJ was absurdly over the top. And your firearrm laws are stricter than North Korea. What you must spend in taxes to fund all that regulation has to be big. But, your music output is pretty impressive. And the Delaware Water Gap is also beautiful. Cape May is also very pretty on the shore. No hate. Just kidding. The real lowlife capital is Ohio.
@MooseGuy1 Thank you, now as a gal who's been on the peripheral of a tiny trucking co. I feel bad about our narcissistic drivers ( too many Beemers) who can't leave the left lane but light it up the entire ride with their break lights and have no idea how to merge onto a highway.
Taxes are crazy, moved to the shore area where we have 55+ so that helps. I just love my state that gets such a bad rap.
Keep on trucking and smiling!

Your delivery of lines like “… didn’t she bring enough pain to the world?” as well as the New Jersey being worse than prison bit is a larger part of why I enjoy your videos than it should be 😂😂 I love that if I could not make out the words you were saying I would never know you were deviating from your matter-of-fact explanation of the facts of the case and your analysis 😂

Dr. Grande really seems to be obsessed with New Jersey. I have no idea what that place did to him, I'm in Germany. However, it is not the first time he expressed some, well, rather strong opinions on the topic.

good video as usual.I especially like the ending where you went on to describe distorted versions of empathy. keep up the good work and may God bless you and your family.
Empathy is far rarer than it appears. It is claimed to be used throughout society, but it can be used as a great manipulation tool. A cynical view, but I feel an accurate one
Excellent video and ty for that message at the end. That dig at NJ though!! (Yes I work in NYC and live in NJ) LOL you surprised me w that (tho i chuckled) but please know it’s just a certain section ie Camden, Newark -the dreaded NJ turnpike ugh! -that is awful -actually towns like Summit, Morristown, Chatham, New Providence (my town) Colts Neck, Princeton, LBI, Cape May are astounding and beautiful ❤
If it doesn't exist yet, I really need a video explaining why Dr Grande hates NJ so much 🤣🤣 and not because I disagree that NJ sucks, I totally understand that perspective. But I have a feeling that there is a REALLY entertaining story behind Dr Grande's experience in NJ.
