      yea Im a seasoned NFL/Patsfan and as great as Brady is its based more upon W/L & SB success than upon executing perfectly as an individual play after play after play as is seen here...Taylor was videogame dominant like having a Tecmo Bowl version of Bo Jackson on defense...These reels the uploader provided make it clear as day he was dominant in virtually every type of situation, whether its as a gunner on STs or against all the different types of running plays or as a pass rusher or even when asked to drop back into pass coverage...A.Donald Deacon Jones Joe Green may have been the best of their eras but they all did their damage at or behind the LOS...LT is a problem for the opposing offense no matter where he lined up or what they asked him to do....On several if not many of the replays shown during this it genuinely looks like hes moving in real time/full speed while everyone else is stuck moving in slow motion.

      Yeah. Beats being preached to about politics. Like Bryant Gumbel. That little prick! I would rather hear Hank Williams Jr. But they banned his opening song on Monday Night Football. I never watch the game again. To many snowflakes today play the game. As LT would be banned every game if he played today. He was a jack hammer to QB's.

    Russ Grimm was a Hall of Fame / Pro Bowl Lineman, Joe Jacoby was a Pro Bowl Lineman. These guys were the nucleus of Washington's legendary Hogs, (3x Super Bowl Champions)... Not even a double team from these legends could stop the incredible Lawrence Taylor. Greatest defensive player of all time, in my opinion.

    No one changed the game like LT.

    I play defensive end and let me tell you, what Taylor did against these tackles is absolutely amazing. I may be garbage but idc how good you are, running past left tackles is amazing but SHOVING DOUBLE TEAMS out the way is just mind blowing. Having the combo of speed and strength mixed with his intensity is insane. I try to play like him every snap but i don't think we'll ever see another LT honestly.

    Quarterbacks back then endured literal degrees of fear in the week before a game, already knowing that they were in for a likely beating, but very easily suffer vicious career ending hits by others than just LT.
    Quarterbacks now can just worry about other things, like playing good and stats or what car they want to drive to the next team practice, or maybe some don't worry at all.

      @byrongammonbyrongammon9937 4 роки тому +3

      True. When people compare Ray Lewis to Lawrence Taylor....I LAUGH! Ray Lewis NEVER took on blocks like Taylor did.....NEVER. Ray Lewis needed big defensive tackles to absorb double teams so Lewis could flow to the ball. Belichick had schemes on 3rd Down where he would only rush 3 men where Lawrence Taylor played as a down lineman in a two-point stance. Ray NEEDED additional help to do his job. Belichick TOOK MEN AWAY from the defensive line, inserted Lawrence Taylor to rush the QB through double and triple teams and STILL get to the QB.
      Lawrence Taylor had no peer.

      +Iamhungey 12345 I don't think the rules on helmet to helmet would affect him- that's not how he tackled, quite the opposite. The uncanny thing was the way he could dive under a blocker and grab a running back's ankles. The intimidation factor came from just being bloody good at what he did and knowing he was going to make you lose the game, not from him playing dirty. He broke Joe Theismann's leg but that was kind of from an unlucky landing if you watch the video.

      +Sam Riffle I read about how Bo got picked up by the Raiders and openly wondered if George Young (the Giants GM at the time) had the foresight to draft Bo that year ahead of the Raiders. Imagine the Giants for the next 5 yrs with LT on D and Bo on the O. Frightening.

    Taylor was genius. He's either too strong and he powers through your tackle (HL #1) or he's too fast and beats em out wide (HL#2).

    #56 is the most dominant defensive player i have ever seen in 37 years of watching the NFL!!! He was so dominant!!! Loved watching him over Reggie White, Mark Gastineau, Mike Singletary, J.J. Watt, Khalil Mack, Aaron Donald, Jared Allen, Ed Too Tall Jones, Mean Joe Greene, Von Miller, Junior Seau, Rickey Jackson, Simeon Rice, Bruce Smith, Luke kueckley, Derrick Thomas, Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs, Warren Sapp, Richard Dent, Chris Doleman, Kevin Greene, you name it!!!! All hail the best, Mr. Lawrence Taylor!!! In today's NFL, LT would get a $200M contract! NO QUESTION!!

    All of those plays where LT forces the ball to come out early shows how sacks don't tell the whole story

  • @mikemccourt6225
    @mikemccourt6225 9 років тому +6

    That front 7 were such a force - and LT was the perfect fit for that group. Watch how many times you see Leonard Marshall or Erik Howard right there in the back field with Lawrence. A lot of those were not cover sacks(with all due respect to a great secondary), but from straight pressure. That whole defense was something special, but LT would have dominated anywhere.

      Mike McCourt...good point. Lawrence Taylor never played with a top-notch backfield. Mark Haynes (1982, 1984 First Team All-Pro; 1983 Second Team All-Pro) and Mark Collins (1989 First Team All-Pro) were the only members of the NY Giant defensive backfield that achieved All-Pro honors. Unlike Derrick Thomas who played with Albert Lewis, Kevin Ross, and James Hasty. Lewis and Ross are considered a NFL historical top ten Cornerback duo.

    3:22 is utterly SICK. LT just knocked over a 300 pound man with one move and, without losing any momentum, rams into the QB for the strip. I don’t even have words for how amazing that was😂

    Even though he played inside, the closest I have seen to LT in terms of impact, leadership, and intimidation was Ray Lewis. And Ray Lewis still wasn't all that close to LT in terms of athleticism and the way he revolutionized the game. People talking about Unicorns nowadays, this guy was THE Unicorn. There was literally nothing he couldn't do on a football field better than everyone else.

    You can see how far the NFL has come in the past 30 years. Taylor is a special player, in any generation but in todays NFL he would surely have to deal with much more QBs in shotgun and im certain teams would throw screens his way to slow him down.
