I would like to address this comment to the children of this family. My guess is that sometimes you might in the quiet of your hearts wish this project was done, but it is not. So I just want to declare that you four are amazing people. You are building your family home with your own hands. This is not what your run-of-the-mill kid thinks about how they would spend their days. You each bring your own talent to this effort and I am appreciative of your work ethic. I enjoy watching you have your own fun with each other while your parents are doing their thing. Thank you for all that you bring to this massive project and your family in general. You are to be admired. Go kids!
Am I bad that I was waiting for One of you to call your "Hat Hole" business "Ash Holes"? 🤣😂 and why am I still laughing about that? It's after 4am and I'm at work just laughing at myself while I watch you guys build! Thank you for always keeping me entertained!!
Cookie cutter homes are repetitive, by design, your home is a very a special "custom" home which is truly well thought out (planned carefully) with every course installed by all ....from the heart and soul , of each of you.!!!! What a blessing !!!!
I’ve watched you for a lovely long time and wasn’t sure I could watch a whole house be built (I live in the Pacific North West, enough said) but I am also a potter and today realized this is the way huge pots are made with beautiful coils so now I watch your beautiful pot being built to house you ❤️❤️❤️
My grandpa built his own adobe house in Summerland, CA. Made the bricks too. It was lit using gas lamps and heated by the fireplace. Today it’s some kind of Buddhist/New Age store. The building is over 100 years old. The muffins look wonderful.
I found your channel by accident. I fall asleep to youtube and just click on the autoplay button. I woke up to one of your videos that was playing that was about a 2 hour recap build. Ever since then I have binged watched most of your videos. Then I remembered a while back I saw a workshop or something of yours doing the tree planting around your ditch ( Swell or whatever you guys call it) where you had the homies donate to the planting and got to put a name on their tree that helped get. I'm glad I found your channel again. I look forward to seeing the build.
Oh my goodness, it's coming along. It's beautiful ❤️ it's been a journey of a lot of joy and hard work. So thankful you had extra help. So love your video and I absolutely love them views 🎉❤
Going up!! So exciting, starting to look like home. 🎉 At age 70, I'm retired and more than a little jealous of your youth and future home. Very special.❤ (And I'm not a hat person but can attest to your hole making skills.😂
With the price of lumber and concrete, etc., I wonder if the use of earth bags will become more popular among builders. Adobe bricks are becoming pretty common in the Southwest and more building codes are recognizing the matrrial, providing commonality in the marketplace. Earth bags are similar in concept. Having building standards provides assurances to home buyers of their quality and longevity (and proper installation) as a superior and environmentally friendly material...and a legitimate housing alternative. 😊
That was both ingenious and hysterical, about making a hole in your hat. "I'm a HatHole and proud of it! ". "How big is YOUR Pony Tail? Bet mine is bigger." 😉
What an inspiration Eric is, from his honoring of food, to his story-telling, to his love of play, to his work ethic, to his emanating of love all around. If you are able to join his adobe project you will not regret it, but will be changed. :) I will never forget him.
Yum, I love pumpkin. I have to go back and watch, because I get caught up watching the clouds. It is about time you got sponsors, it sure took them a long time to recognize a great thing.
Wow! That was really a boost 😀! This Eric showed a wholesome bunch of energy. Maybe it's a way to deal with future 'deep/dipp moments': for every third course, you invite a friend/volonteer on the search of a complete new experiance... and 'off!' you go! Amazing, beautifull progress! 👌👍 The dogs-talk was fun ❤
This video was so much fun to watch. My son came and was asking me about the music.. Now he is watching too. I think you may have another sub! He is blown away by what you guys are doing!
The giant punkin muffin looked amazing!!!As you work your way up the walls, which is so exciting to see, I keep thinging, How in the Heck are they going to roof that monster????
RAMPS - y'all really gotta start prepping for a portable/movable ramp system, or maybe a small conveyer belt system. 2 more courses and it'll be needed. Can't wait to see what u come up with!
Cooler weather is much welcomed here to the high desert of Colorado as well. Tired of the triple digits. This weekend, we're in the 70's and doing prep to paint!
What can I say about Eric coming to help. With everything that he's doing at home, building an adobe brick house for his parents...so small feat, and taking the time to come and help y'all. Such a wonderful gesture. This house is such a huge undertaking, and I really wish that I was in a position to be able to come and help. What a difference a few extra hands make. Like the old Amish barn raisings. Love y'all ❣️ ❤️🌵🌞⛈️🌈🐾🫂
After accidentally getting a sneak peek on insta, the scene behind made me grin all through the video... The seventh( lucky) layer was had a different energy truly... pumpkin muffins are a worth try. Will follow Eric for sure
This house is built well because it’s made with love, a lot of careful planning and your entire family’s blood, a lot of sweat and occasional tears. Everyone watching could hardly wait for the outcome. And Ashley, you could show your talent in cooking in your new kitchen with a mountain view. You need a cooking show…
Good afternoon you guys how are you guys doing today looks like everything is going together look like you're getting closer to the house just took a long ways to go have a good day
Hey Ash and Jon, I still think my suggestion a few vids ago about modifying an old grain auger as an elevator for the mix on higher walls. Anything to make that work safer and easier to do. Loving the build and look forward to these updates. Looking forward to looking at Eric’s Chanel.
Motoring along great work all of you. At the end be sure to let us know how many truckloads of dirt and other interesting stats. Which you are bound to say in any case.
I do not mind seeing you do products. I learned a lot about wool bedding from a long ago video. Quite a few people I watch do Thrive Market. Keto Twins for one.
Holy cow, Eric, how freaking rad to see you in this video after talking to you a couple days ago… So Stoked for you and the tiny, shiny home combo… Long distance. Hugs.
That's great that your friend Eric helped you get the 7th course done so fast! That was cute when Jonathan grabbed his "treats" and snuck off. Dog treats! "Conundrum", word for the day! Yay, nail gun! Good idea to hammer the nails into the bags instead of using the nail gun. I like how it makes making the cleats so much easier! Wow, he came from Utah! That spider web was really pretty. Thanks for that shot. Eric is a hard worker, he fits in great with all of you hard workers. Thanks for all the time lapse segments! Wow, when Eric hooked up the two wheelbarrows I was amazed! Did you show him how to do that? Wow, another load of AB mix? Oh boy, dolly bucket getting used! Nice job modifying your cap Ashley, it looks really nice. Wow, so much done with Eric's help. I'm glad he got to explain how he is building an adobe house for his parents with adobe brick. I'm glad he is trying to document his build. That is an earth building for sure. I look forward to seeing what the "thing" that will happen at Eric's place. That was cute when Eric put his "mark" on one of the door frames. I hope he got to eat grapes! Thanks for the pumpkin muffin recipe Ashley! Cool, the muffins are stuffed with flavored cream cheese, yum! That looks so delicious Ashley! Pretty sunset! Thanks for this video Longnecker family!
WOW! You all really knocked that out! Lookin' good :-) Nice that Eric was able to stop by to help. Best wishes to him on his project. ...and I did an LOL about the hat hole business...and name. Those muffins looked really good, too!
I meant to make this suggestion earlier. But have you guys heard of soccer vest? They're a bass that you can soak for thirty minutes and keep you cool up 24 hours
If only I could have watched you guys as a ten year old, whoa how inspired I would've been to build a life like this and how much happier I would have been.
You guys always inspire to think out of the box. Your family is inspiring to watch how you all work together as a team. How many linear feet is one layer of the round house. You stated how many bags of portland per course but, not how many linear feet. Unless I missed it in the video.
I was watching our self relent life, about solar panels making water. From source hydro panels solar powered panels create water from the desert air. Our self relent life live in Cochif county.
I love the "loaf look" for your interior and exterior walls. I'd goop them up with some DIY synthetic stucco using elastomeric roof coating mixed with sand if it were my project. Other than that I think you all are right on track for a near perfect build.
In Hawai’i all we always wear our buns out… of our hats. They’re called pāpale (pah-pah-lay) they are a woven hat with an hole in the middle. It’s norm for hats over here! However I second the notion of a business venture where you provide all types of hats with holes, called Ash Holes! 😆
Hi guys, have you guys ever heard of clay bricks I was watching a UA-cam channel Laura kempf she was renovating an old house and she is big into natural materials. She used clay bricks and for the paint it was a clay plaster that was in different colors it looks cool. I don't know if ye are able to get it where ye are...
Hey y'all. Love enjoying the jams and watching y'all have a great time building the house. I have to ask, have you thought of setting up some sort of shade structure over the cement mixing area to provide a little shade while you're working? And also, why don't you carve a handle into one of those 2x4's you're using for beating the sides of the bags and make it a bit like a cricket bat? That would add a lot of comfort to that particular activity. Thanks for sharing your projects with us.
Hey there, have you tried a Ramset for nailing the cleats? Since there is too much concrete to use a nail gun, the ramset will sink the nails with one strike of the hammer. It’ll save you a lot of time.

I think the world would be happier if we all went and appreciated nature and helped each other. You live the way humans were meant to live.
Am I bad that I was waiting for One of you to call your "Hat Hole" business "Ash Holes"? 🤣😂 and why am I still laughing about that? It's after 4am and I'm at work just laughing at myself while I watch you guys build! Thank you for always keeping me entertained!!
I was thinking watch someone take that ideal and run with it.
Cookie cutter homes are repetitive, by design, your home is a very a special "custom" home which is truly well thought out (planned carefully) with every course installed by all ....from the heart and soul , of each of you.!!!! What a blessing !!!!
You always have such even walls. They look nice!
Look at those rising walls!
I’ve watched you for a lovely long time and wasn’t sure I could watch a whole house be built (I live in the Pacific North West, enough said) but I am also a potter and today realized this is the way huge pots are made with beautiful coils so now I watch your beautiful pot being built to house you ❤️❤️❤️
It reminded me of coil pots a time ago!
My grandpa built his own adobe house in Summerland, CA. Made the bricks too. It was lit using gas lamps and heated by the fireplace. Today it’s some kind of Buddhist/New Age store. The building is over 100 years old. The muffins look wonderful.
WOW , That's amazing it's still standing. A testament to his hard work.❤❤❤
A little help goes a long way, good job all, thank you.
Eric brings such good energy.

I just love Ashley’s humor 😂
It was fun watching so much progress and having Eric there to lighten the load! Good going! And those pumpkin muffins.....!!!!
This video was so much fun to watch. My son came and was asking me about the music.. Now he is watching too. I think you may have another sub! He is blown away by what you guys are doing!
Nice!
I appreciate your teaching and communication skills. In spite of the heat and hard work you guys make me smile.
Oh my goodness that muffin looks delish! Very clever double wheel barrow move. Oh that clouds eyes just melt me.
Looking good Guys.
It is SO cool to see the changes as the tubes become the right shape through the tamping process. And hey, what a great way to work off stress! :D
Good Going Guys 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂
The giant punkin muffin looked amazing!!!As you work your way up the walls, which is so exciting to see, I keep thinging, How in the Heck are they going to roof that monster????
One rafter at a time 😂
RAMPS - y'all really gotta start prepping for a portable/movable ramp system, or maybe a small conveyer belt system. 2 more courses and it'll be needed. Can't wait to see what u come up with!
The ramps are already in place and won't be moving. They're the only access points for certain parts of the wall.
Wow! Yum 😋 and the house progress is GREAT!
Cooler weather is much welcomed here to the high desert of Colorado as well. Tired of the triple digits. This weekend, we're in the 70's and doing prep to paint!
Im so excited for all of you. Your home is going to be beautiful. Not only is your friend providing help, but he is also learning the craft.
Thrive Market rocks. We have used them for a while.
Ashley, i have been buying from Thrive for about 10 years or so. Great products at great prices. Nice muffins!

Wow it changing the feel so fast. Great job everyone. Those muffins looked yummy. ❤❤
The pumpkin desert looked fabulous 🎉.
And congratulations on #7!!!
Yep, I'm with Ashley. Safety first! An injury would stop and derail everything way worse than taking the little to putting in the cleats as you go.
This house is built well because it’s made with love, a lot of careful planning and your entire family’s blood, a lot of sweat and occasional tears. Make sure to keep the Allen wrench on that dewalt nail gun because those like to jam and with that wrench it is 2 screws on the front to clear the jam

What are the Dimensions of a finished bag in place? Congrats on number 7.

I had a dream I was building with you a couple of nights ago.. in the nicest possible way.. Get out of my head!

Yes we're friends with them :)
This video had a little different energy. More raw feeling. Hope all is good. Construction can be trying. Love you guys. Keep up the good work.❤
You will love Thrive products. A great variety of products.
It's a gut feeling that this place will be incredible. Had to sub so I don't miss this amazing abode. SuperMom👍
Great work with lots of friends.
I love the "loaf look" for your interior and exterior walls. I'd goop them up with some DIY synthetic stucco using elastomeric roof coating mixed with sand if it were my project. Other than that I think you all are right on track for a near perfect build.
You should watch this: ua-cam.com/video/phdJV3Qvaj4/v-deo.html :)
Its so hot, wish I could send you some cold air from Canada. Good job family
Those walls look amazing
Y’all are gonna be fit family by the end of this.

As far as the cleats go, my granny always said, “Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.”
Yea I would have put in the cleats for the interior walls.
Hey there, have you tried a Ramset for nailing the cleats? Since there is too much concrete to use a nail gun, the ramset will sink the nails with one strike of the hammer. It’ll save you a lot of time.
Have y’all considered shaving down and rounding a handle for the 2x4 bag slappin’ stick? Seems like it would be easier to handle.
Great progress this video ❤👍
🖤🖤🖤
You need to meld two hats together so you have neck protection as well. Two hole - double duck!
Adobe‼️ Can't get more organically down to the earth. I'm very interested...
Looking good God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
Have you thought of do the short walls when you are few, then long walls when all are therr?
Umm..that looks like a cream cheese & pumpkin coffee cake..thx Imma try it!
Beautiful & yum
