Watched the movie "The Queen" for the first time today, after watching the last season of "The Crown" I am deeply invested in a family I have never cared about at all.
My grandma cried. It was the only time I ever saw her cry. I think Diana changed my grandma in some way, because my grandma was always selfless and serving others. She didn’t expect anything in return and I think that was something she saw Diana do and my grandma decided to be like her.

I was only 3 years old when this happened. I'm living in the Philippines at that time with my family. I have a very vivid memory of this during my childhood, I remember we watched this on our old television set and wondering what is the news all about. I cannot seem to understand at that time but I remember seeing Princess Diana's face all over the news and the car that crashed. I know it’s controversial but our wonderful Diana died to a tragic accident. I understand why you think it was a murder, no footage, survivors did a runner. She was forced to show her own brokeness so she could help a world heal, something she had been raised not to do since childhood. I cant imagine what the queen went through. Expected to be invulnerable, permanent, strong, in her being and expected to let the walls fall down and show how she truly felt the next. And all within 5 days of her daughter in laws death. At the end of the day, this is still a Family. All families have their problems & flaws, marital discord, problems between in-laws,... but like all families, they were deeply hurt by this. Came here after watching The Queen 2006 movie and the Queen.
The hostility towards the Royal Family pissed me off so much. In all the Public complaining that the royal family wasn’t present did they stop to think about the grief of two BOYS 14 and 12 who just lost their MOTHER. I’m willing to bet NO. Because in their mind their grief was all that mattered, and the Royal Family should be paying them respect. Not trying to protect two BOYS who were grieving probably more than the public ever could. I fully stand by where the Queen was that week. William and Harry needed her more than the public ever could in that moment. The world did not lose Diana, William and Harry did. What that week proved to me was the British people are selfish and only care about themselves. I gained a whole new respect for Prince Phillip when I learned he yelled at the Royal Advisors at Buckingham Palace.

I was only 3 years old when this happened. I'm living in the Philippines at that time with my family. I have a very vivid memory of this during my childhood, I remember we watched this on our old television set and wondering what is the news all about. I cannot seem to understand at that time but I remember seeing Princess Diana's face all over the news and the car that crashed. When I saw her face flashing in the screen I instantly fell in love with her beauty that's why I remember her face.Can you imagine how many people in the world watched her funeral that it even reached the farthest parts of Asia during the time when internet is not yet available.

I would feel completely numb having to deal with so much anxiety and sadness, at certain points in tragedy your body just doesnt let you feem past a certain point. Especially at her age. Its hard to be vulnerable strong and clear when your mind is racing over the life of the person you lost. She was forced to show her own brokeness so she could help a world heal, something she had been raised not to do since childhood. I cant imagine what the queen went through. Expected to be invulnerable, permanent, strong, in her being and expected to let the walls fall down and show how she truly felt the next. And all within 5 days of her daughter in laws death. She did not want to be queen to begin with. She would rather disapear into the countryside with her family to live a normal life than be in the limelight. To see someone poised like Diana who was a natural royal to the people of the world suddenly have die and be stripped of her place in it the days leading up to it. It must have been an intensely troubling time for her to have to comt to grips with her identity, who she was as queen, and how she wished she could be free of the role if she could. But at the end of the day she is Queen Elizabeth. And she decided that if this is what the role and workd demanded of her she was going duty bound to serve her people to the best of her ability. Its that decisiveness that really cements her as an icon among monarchs and world leaders.
Part of the royal family duties is to stay strong for they're county, they're personal emotions are kept in they're private home, the royal family are strong people.
