Exactly, there's no other way to spin this...I'm a J. Cole fan, but this is damaging for him....none of this was a "beef", this was a chance at friendly competition to establish where each sits in the pecking order at the top of hip-hop, and Jermaine blew it. There was nothing toxic in the air, just a chance to cypher with each other in a sense in the realm of a battle, with the world watching, and he submitted...after boastful, elite rapping authored by Cole the last 3-4 years, damn near begging for his pen to be tested. Rap is competition at the end of the day, it was built on it.

While I don't truely have a dog in either Cole or Kenny's respective Fandom, I'm still a RAP fan bottom line. Both of them showing their skill against each other would've been a win for the entire genre. It wouldn't even have to be a Pusha T or Remy level diss battle that got personal, just a show of wordplay and prowess like it all used to be. Him stopping like this was just a loss for everyone involved.

2. Drake played the chess game so well. Tinfoil hat, Drake sent Cole to soften the playing the field and force the 2 against each other. The beef was never with Cole, it was 90% with Drake. But Drake cleverly sent and peer pressured Cole to go first
I can see Drake really setting Cole up to take the fall .. Drake seems to be very underhanded in how he moves..
this situation is interesting it's like chess because there are several players and so many possible moves, or counter moves that can come from this, even now. Does Kdot respond, double down on Cole while he's weak, say see I am the best? Does Drake jump in, use everything so far to his advantage, maybe throw Cole under the bus somehow? Even just the timing, Drake will be praised now if he does a diss because of the sour taste people got from Cole. Does Cole do anything later, or say anything to add to the situation? Or does no one do nothing and it ends here? Or who knows what other scenarios can play out

While Cole's move is rare during battles and seems weak/lame at first glance (my first reaction), one can also say it's bold and courageous. I do respect him for being true to himself. I totally understand what J cole did but one thing i want people to understand is that "being naive" and "choosing to be humble" are two different things, kendrick dissed him thats no secret, you either dont step into the beef or stay till you die, quitting after saying what he did makes him look bad and isnt good for the sport called hiphop.
In my opinion It's much harder to back off after going tip top, rather than continue.
Cole and Kendrick are peers, they fw each other. No good outcome can come out of that beef. He puts their friendship, human connexion, in front of hip-hop history, and I can't even be mad. He found peace within him
So far it has only been Knox and Fantano that have been 💯on viewing this from Cole's perspective out of a lot of reactors/content creators I have seen lately
