If you daily drive your vehicle honestly stick to lowering springs, coilovers are waayy to noisy like really bad metal clunking noise whereas with springs you really don’t notice much of a difference

Go pretty low obviously speed bumps and pot holes will cause some damage to certain parts of the car weather it’s your bumper or even your suspension parts which is why people recommend you switching out your shocks and struts eventually but again that’s only if you go through bumps on the road, and if you go with an aggressive drop

@@vivid_racing gotcha thanks, I’m in a 2019 Audi a4. Wanted to keep the comfort of the new car but man I need to get rid of some wheel gap haha. In my old car I did coilovers but I can’t afford those yet so looking at other options.

In my town roads are really bad, replacing regular struts is way cheaper than coilovers, so for me, lower spring is the best option

Coilovers were cheaper for my car
Do coilovers and do it right the first time. I’ve had many Eibach springs (pro kit and sportline) which lowered the ride height. With a high end coilover not only can you adjust the ride height, but adjust the dampening for whatever you desire.
Springs are the “cheap” way to do it, get coilovers and do it right the first time.
People saying “coilovers don’t ride well” are buying cheap coilovers that are $1400 or under.
Get a good set.

For cars without double wishbone suspension get coils for ones with double wishbone get springs they work well

I have double wishbone suspention on my genesis and thinking about getting springs. Although many seem to talk about how it damages struts , would it still be a good idea to go with springs.

Here in Singapore cars have life span of 10 years and mine left 3. Fitted Eibach progressives because about half the price of cheapest coilover set here which is BRC Racing selling at S$1800.00
Why do they only have a span of 10 years? I’m not familiar with Singaporean automotive!

Not every car is one or the other on springs vs coilovers. For example, Nissan Z31 and S130 chassis. In that realm the coilovers are mainly for looks unless they're paired with S13 subframes but even then you're looking at some serious alignment adjustments going forward in order to get coilovers to act as designed. Progressive type lowering springs paired with Koni or similar adjustable shock/strut cartridges maintain the factory suspension design and a semi-comforable ride. Linear springs don't have the lighter rate coils on top and bottom and handle similar to coilovers if done right.
One advantage coilovers bring is the ability to corner-balance suspension, though most people obviously don't do it cuz a corner-balanced ride usually isn't very low or aggressive looking from just a suspension change.

2017 Elantra Sport.. just started modding.. been in my head all day if I should do springs or coilovers .. mostly a daily… 40K miles right now- I don’t race- looks was the goal, however, I want to do what’s best but not for an arm and a leg either ..

Springs are perfect for you! Cost effective, plus your shocks are newer, plus you’re not doing any racing or crazy driving for extended periods of time!
I went with D2 springs . And replaced all other suspension parts lol cost 3k but it was worth it

There's a lot of talk about lowering springs damaging the suspension. Especially on higher mileage vehicles. Would it be easier to go with coilovers and spend the extra money on quality parts. Or go with lowering springs and hope for the best haha? Seems like there's a lot of mixed opinions.
There really is, lol! I think people still have a stigma on lowering springs, especially cause of how cheap a lot of them are. But there are some really good brand out there that won't break the bank. It also just depends on the application/what you want out of your car. If you just want to lower it for the looks, then there's no need to cash out for coilovers. But if you're doing any sort of heavy driving, it could be worth it to just bite the bullet and pay more for coilovers. PS: We've installed lowering springs on Porsche's and BMW's, so they keyboard warriors with their clapped Kia Sorento's are just out here hating.

Those particular coilovers require adjusting preload to determine ride stiffness - complete garbage like my skunk2 pro c’s. Springs with matched struts not only ride better but do not sacrifice quality (also skunk2.)

I have been driving various lowered cars on different suspension setups since 1998.
For a company rep, you sound like a troll.
Based on “real life experience” driving on the street with the EXACT same style coilovers manufactured by Skunk2 (a better brand name) I can honestly say both 94-01 Integra’s and 96-00 Civic hatchbacks do not, and will not ride and drive well on the street.
This is a result of A: not having dampening control on the strut and B: most backyard installations are NOT going to be able to pre-load the suspension for a perfect fit… because it will require driving and attempting to dial in the exact preload for the ride they prefer.
I personally adjusted the coilovers over 3 years and still cannot find a suitable ride.
Tein 1 piece Advance Z coilovers are hundred times better because you adjust your dampening rate AFTER you set your ride height, and if settling occurs, height adjustment can still easily be done. You will not be so lucky with a pre load coilover setup.
…and unless you will ever be running track, no springs are not stiff enough, but Skunk2 springs with matching struts will definitely get you around the track, to work, and comfortably down the highway home again.

How much lowering springs
I really appreciate seeing you reply to everyone’s questions, although after reading through bunch of them i still didnt find a deciding decision. Can you please give me advice on which option i should go for; i have a 2016 genesis g80 3.8, i care about ride quality ofc, i also dont want to need to replace shocks in the future as they are really expensive, i dont drive too insane, i want the set up to last as long as possible without needing to repair any future issues. With all that being said, from your experience should i go with springs or coilovers. Budget is not an issue as i care more about quality and longevity.

If budget isn't an issue, I would 10000000% go with Coilovers. Fortune auto, silvers, or BC racing will be the best options for a better handling but comfortable coilover! There are other great brand like HKS but those will be stiffer and are catered to a track car. Let me know if this helps!

I have a 2016 genesis coupe and can’t decide weather I should get coilovers or springs. I daily the car and drive kinda fast/rough but idk what to get. I was looking into Godspeed or ISR coilovers but I’m not to sure if it’s worth it

@Bmwkid330i unfortunately yes, I wouldn’t really recommend lowering springs for newer/performance cars. Especially if you drive a lot/drive harder than just going the speed limit

If you install coilovers does it get rid of your track, sport, comfort setting? For example...my car has a normal setting for suspension and sport, and track. Which just stiffens the suspension. If I install coilovers will I not have that option anymore?
There are some coilovers that you can buy that allow you to adjust them with your car's settings, but those can be expensive. If I were you, I would suggest getting some higher end springs!

Softer coilovers for sure? If they’re more firm you’ll get a ton of wear on your tires

They work perfect in the winter, even on the snow if your car can drive in it, lol! And they will last as long as you are nice to them! Just depends on how hard you're driving or the way you use them, as well as the brand!

Is it still worth it to get lowering springs if my shocks are going out anyways or would you recommend going coilovers since id have to replace the whole assembly regardless?
Honestly depends on the price. I definitely wouldn't run busted shocks with lowering springs, cause you'll be bottoming out on every little bump in the road. But getting new shocks and lowering springs could also be cheaper than coilovers!

my 2008 civic suspension is completely fucked should I try to switch the stock fucked suspension for coilovers or do yall think the problem lies some where completely different ?
Depends on what you’re going for. If you’re wanting to go fast and race and bring it to the track and stuff get some coilovers. If you’re just wanting it to look good and have better handling you should get new shocks and lowering springs

Not as stable as coilovers, but any upgrade to stock suspension will give you a little bit better handling
Springs will be stiffer than stock but you must match them with struts designed for a lowered spring. Matched springs and struts are ideal. Tein Street Advance Z coilovers are the only I would ever recommend.

Handles great, but after 25k of me driving them, and it parked for a year, they don’t perform like they use to. Ok so here’s my thing, I definitely don’t want to go the cheap route and would do payments on coilovers if I had to because I’d rather just pay for quality ones the first time and be done with it. But in my situation I have a broken top mount rear driver side the new ones came in today but I was told I need rear shocks for my 2015 Mustang ecoboost and said I’d soon need front struts as well so, I haven’t ordered that replacement yet bc I’ve been trying to decide if I should get a shock and strut kit like bilstein, koni or even ford performance track or coilovers because the reason I wouldn’t just do rear shocks is bc ik I’ll end up buying fronts and have to pay a shop for that install as well so paying 4x is pointless but, if my main focus is to get better handling, comfortability, and Perfomance while going as long as possible without replacing them again would u go the kit option or coilovers also I’m a travel welder and I don’t have my truck yet but it’s not like I have to drive on such rough sites bc I can park and get a ride to the work area, my mustang is also a daily no major mods or tunes besides a catback downpipe and intake with 125k miles and non performance but the premium 2015 if that helps determine the decision?
And also I wouldn’t mind dropping it about 1-2in but it isn’t a necessity
You've given a lot of thought to it! Lol! Honestly, if the mustang is your daily and you're getting a work truck, the shock and strut kit seems like the way to go. Cause it's not like you're driving crazy or trying to track the car, and something like a Bilstein kit can definitely handle it every once in a while. if money wasn't an option I'd say just send it with the coilovers. But for longevity, plus ease of replacing it, the shock kit sounds like a better deal to me.
@@vivid_racing yeah I don’t mind biting the bullet on coilovers just bc it replaces all of it yk and I just don’t see the point in only buying rear knowing im gonna pay a shop twice once the fronts need work or simple my new shocks and struts going out in a couple thousand miles or maybe even sooner and then having to get front and back done again vs Coilovers being an all around adjustment if needed and better warranty I’m sure but ya idc to track it maybe a couple 20-40 rolls w the guys and simply lowering it to the tire in my rear and going w spacers but yes a daily and honestly dk when the truck will come about I only got 7k left on my stang but want to enjoy that as well yk so still same decision? I just don’t feel like paying a shop or someone twice for installs regardless of the route I go and I appreciate u for the quick response on an old video I have to place an order by today but for coilovers I’m simply not wanting to go cheap so if anything I’ll do payments rather than a cheap pair or going the kit route so either ford performance track pack, bilstein or koni shock and strut kit or coilovers lmk?

@@icyuno85 definitely send it with coilovers then. shock and strut kits will last longer usually because people just put them on commuters, and don't do a whole lot with them. but honestly, the longevity is negligible. Getting coilovers is a solid move if you're willing to pay a little more! What brands are you thinking of getting?
I got a question anybody answer please, someone told me if I wanted to change my rims size and tire size I would have to get change the height go lower with coilovers but I was wondering if I could change the rims and tire size with springs also ??
Changing your wheel and tire size has nothing to do with lowering your car. You can keep your stock ride height as long as the wheel and tire fits on your car. You can lower your car with coilovers and adjust the ride height to give your car a nicer fitment though! And they also make adjustable springs if you not wanting to cash out

You can 100% do that, a lot of coilovers are made specifically to lift
