I talk about why I still collect DVDs and why they are better than streaming services. #dvd #bluray - Розваги
What’s better? DVD or Streaming? 🐸⬇️
streaming has more options and is cheaper🐸
Both 🐸
streaming
Streaming
Neither. VHS
I'm a big physical media collector, and I loved this video, and I agree with every single point. It's so satisfying when you just have whatever you want to watch sitting on a shelf, ready to be put into your DVD / Blu-ray player. Plus, whenever the internet's down, you can just pop in any of your discs and relax. There really is something just nice about owning something you like. While others are hopping from streaming service to streaming service, you're inserting a disc without any stress.
Exactly. The same with vhs tapes. They are making a comeback. And these streaming apps don't even have all the movies or shows that you are looking for. And you have to have internet to watch them.
Same 💯 Netflix LOVES to remove stuff ALL THE TIME...
One thing you forgot to mention is when the internet is down, the DVD player won’t buffer your movie while the internet isn’t working.
I definitely like dvds better. Streaming is just more convenient but dvd like you said has more features and you can watch it ANYTIME YOU WANT
As a DVD collector who's noticed your DVDs in the background for such a long time, I'm glad you're finally starting to cover them in your videos.
thanks 🐸🐸

DVDs are better than streaming, I love collecting physical media
I like collecting physical stuff like dvds Cds ect. Not only cuz of nostalga it also means i get to keep it forever
Another nicer thing about DVDs and Blu-Rays to a lesser extent is that in a majority of cases, they can be cheaper than buying movies digitally. If a movie you want to watch isn’t on a streaming service, you’re only option to watch the movie digitally is to pay for it. I commonly find that it’s cheaper to buy a DVD or Blu-Ray than it is to even rent a movie digitally so that is another positive with buying physical movies. DVDs of course may have compromised quality but Blu-Rays do not and in addition to the movie, you often get a bunch of special features, which may not be available if you buy or rent the movie digitally.
I agree with you 100% about Physical media. I am a PM guy myself. Love collecting movies. However even back in the Video Store days, I would guess 90% of the people renting movies could care less about having a “VHS/DVD/Blu ray collection”. Those are the same people today who are streaming. Nothing has changed. We are a special groups that preach “we own a physical copy, I can watch whenever I want,” but truth is…..majority couldn’t care less!!
This is exactly my point on why DVDS are better then streaming!! I tried telling my dad this but he disagrees with me lol
I still have a whole bunch of DVD’s and watch them whenever I can, it’s pretty cool!
DVD’s better than streaming
I still love dvds and i still get them
Great analysis, another thing that's great about physical media is the fact there are alot of titles that can't get re-released and alot of underrated tv only stuff you can't find anywere else, ingeneral DVD is a super nostalgic format and great to still collect for film/tv enthusiasts like us :D
i agree bro i still buy dvds, its better than streaming
I do love using optical storage. It is cheap to buy, you have a physical copy of an item (no company can take it away from you), internet connection isn’t required. But you do have to be careful as they can be fragile
They can be repaired though i got a machine that fixes scratched discs and it will work as long as the disc isn't badly scratched.
first DVDs killed VHSs and now Streaming killed DVDs
I personally would collect DVDs
good choice 🐸🐸
DVDs are still the default for me, I assumed most normal people were the same.
DVD's are certified film classics
I honestly love dvd/cd, because 1 it's kinda cool to have it physical with the art and stuff, and 2 It's still usfull if you don't have internet.
here is my ranking:
1: DVDs pros: you can watch it whenever you want. cons: they scratch if not cared for properly
2: streaming pros: has lots of movies and shows. cons: companies can edit the and it cost a lot more than DVD
3: vhs pros: good and nostalgic. cons. they stop working overtime
DVD and Blu-ray needs its revival like Vinyl and CD. Because there are many movies that never were available in Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, like The Man Who Saw Tomorrow starring Orson Wells and Pink Floyd The Wall directed by Alan Parker.
The cat in the hat should be on every streaming service ever it is just too good of a movie not to have! 🐸
🐸
and long haul and home alone 4 and the emoji move need to die and not be put on any streaming services 🐸🐸
🐸🐸
Home Alone 4 was good though
I love having my own blockbuster store😂
LOL me too and Gamestop and Comic Book store and a small Barnes and Noble. My wife says I'm a hoarder.........
You know what cool I still buy DVDs
I prefer physical media over streaming. On a streaming service a show or movie can go at anytime.
I'm so with you my friend! I'm an actress so I own DVD for pleasure but also for study. I love lots of pre 1960 stuff many of which aren't on streaming
Its always fun to watch the Behind the Scenes they sometimes include.
Everyone should have a small collection of the movies they really like, just in case.
I love having physical discs my parents say I could just watch the movies on streaming but no I like discs
Streaming may be convenient, but DVD, Blu-ray, hell, even VHS will always be superior.
I just recently bought Kill Bill Volumes 1 & 2 on DVD, which I’d never seen before, and i will be dead in the ground before I ever get rid of them.
(Yes, I’ve gone my whole life without seeing Kill Bill.)
You're crazy if you think vhs is superior to streaming 😂 have you watched a vhs recently ? I have and they look horrible nowadays. VHS makes dvds look like gold in comparison. I personally love streaming for everything and collect dvds only of my favorite movies
I do both! Uploaded all of my DVDs and Blu Rays (got a huge supply of them once Blockbuster/Hollywood Video started closing down) to Jellyfin. I keep the cases packed in boxes and the discs in binders. I'll probably sell the cases one day, but keep the discs. I can stream my own stuff anywhere in my house
I got on a physical movie collecting kick this year. There are a lot of movies that aren't even on streaming services. Not to mention the artwork, special releases, extremely limited collector's or even regular releases. Especially more recent movies from smaller film companies, because of how streaming services are the norm these days. I look for rarities and collectors editions with artwork or extra collectibles. Might be worth something some day, maybe not. But a fun hobby and something I'll cherish. I think physical blurays look a lot better in terms of video quality too.
That's true. Not everything is on Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, etc 🐸🐸
Cus physical >>>>> digital and streaming. Far too often do streaming services have to movie but only as an extra cost ON TOP of the monthly fee. So nahhhhh physical copies all the way. Plus, it's some decent decoration.
Hey crowranaburger you should do a trying the last mcrib or the new youtube look🐸🐸🐸
i hate the new UA-cam look
Yeah what happened
These are some valid points. Especially the fact that they can’t be edited. In this day and age with all the censorship going on.
I agree with all that was said, there's a lot of movies I'm glad i own on DVD as well and they're the ones i really enjoy a lot.
Also a lot of movies as a horror movie fan are not available on streaming services and probably never will be.
this new youtube style on mobile lookin pretty wacky 👀😳💀🐸🐸🐸
When I was a kid I really made the most out of DVDs we had. All the special features, rewatch them all the time
I think I’ve forgotten how to have fun with just a few items
This guy has a massive collection but I think most people will self select what they checkout of the library or buy and then you’re just really engrossed in what you do have. It’s like some kind of minimalist joy
I miss those special features 😅
Basically I want to be able to know a CrowRana video just by looking at the thumbnail instead of second guessing each time so I am more likely to click it
I know what you mean I collect CDs or albums. I call it my “ Collection“ I collect albums from my generation of the 00’s 10’s and some from this year. I collect rock albums and some pop albums. Also some albums are deluxe edition or some rare ones, like what you mention with some of the dvds.
With me recently getting into Cd and dvd collecting, I agree with you
One pro for collecting discs is that you don't have to stress out about having to finish watching the movies/shows that's about to leave a streaming service. Yes, sometimes they come back every few months, but you don't always know for sure.
I would say any entertainment that is your absolute favorite should be owned in physical form. There's really no other way to guarantee you'll have it forever. And the very fact you can hold it and have it with you forever is nice.
It's better than needing Internet forever to play your best movies.
I certainly get your points even though I would also personally say that if a movie happens to be a newer release your'e probably not going to be able watch it for free on any streaming service anyway so in that case that kind of gives you a bit more incentive to just go and pay for the DVD of that movie in a store if you just so happen to find it because regardless of whether you buy a new release movie from a store or you happen to pay for it via streaming service your'e still having to pay for that movie regardless.
Same points here go for Video Games
You covered all the points I was about to make.
I like to get DVD's from second hand stores (CEX), charity shops, and sometimes brand new sealed DVD's at full price (HMV)
Sometimes, CEX does mess up a little, so streaming the movie/TV show is ok
When I go to charity shops, there's a DVD section, and I've found some DVD's for cheap, that are still sealed in the wrapping (A documentary film called I Believe in Miracles, was in a charity shop still sealed in the wrapping, and it was 10 DVD's for £1)
If I buy brand new DVD's from HMV, it's normally stuff I wanna watch for the first time (The Benidorm boxset, with all 10 seasons, and specials, came with postcards with logos from the show)
I managed to buy a few DVD's (and a video game or 2) with some cool features in the case
The Dictator DVD came with a pretend Wadiyan banknote
High School Musical 3 DVD came with an unused Yearbook
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End DVD came with unused temp tattoos
WWE '13 came with a Limited Edition CM Punk Slam Attax card (which is still sealed)
I love the fact that you used The Cat In The Hat as your example lol. Also, that you have some bad movies in your collection but you need them to appreciate the good ones lol
Short answer: its just better
I collect DVDs and VHS for the same reason one Netflix or streaming services don’t have it for example a hard days night or magical mystery tour two it’s just cool to have it physically and see it and three it sometimes have special features or cool menus that you can’t get on streaming services 🐸🐸🐸🐸
Nice Beatles fan, Eight Days A Week documentary is also great.
I agree with like all your pints, I just don't want so many dvds that my house is cluttered, or that it looks ugly or a hoarder type thing
DVDS are better than streaming services in my opinion. Sure, they’re alot easier, but DVDS have cool bonus features that your missing out on if you do it all on, well, theres so many streaming services, i cant even think of an option. I actually still have my spongebob season 3 dvd with the banned episode since you cant watch it on Paramount +. But if you dont care about the special features or any of the extra stuff, and you just care about the episodes/movie, streaming services are better.
Was the banned SpongeBob episode panty raids?
Do both. These days when you buy a Blu-ray you get a DVD and Digital. If you want just DVDs for cheap libraries are a good source. Mine has DVD for only $1. Cheaper than the Dollar store and much better selection. Just a bit scratched up sometimes and sometimes like new. Depends on if the DVD was a donation or a former library dvd.
Also stock up on players. What's the point of having all those movies if you player dies? Have several backup players.
I think it's good some tv shows and movies still come out on DVD because not everyone can afford to stream it.🐸
Review Diper Overlode!
The picture and sound quality is better on Blu-ray compared to steaming
Yes, you're right. Blu-rays are amazing! DVDs are amazing too, don't get me wrong, but there's just something about Blu-rays that really hit the spot.
I can read Blu-rays too!
crow is like saying a school essay
people are gonna beg for more wimpy kid right
i'll always buy DVDs and blu rays, but a couple of pet peeves are when there are tons of trailers for other movies before you even reach the menu and when it comes with the bare minimum feature, like just "play film" i think every home release should come with special features. also, there have been a couple of instances where i already had the DVD but upgraded to blu ray which turned out to be a worse deal because there is no menu, the movie just loops
Which is why i just rip them you can rip the movie with out any of the ads.
I’ve been replacing all my DVDs with Blu-ray or 4ks. I like physical media over streaming
I always go for blu rays in the long run, but if I cant find whatever movie im looking for I just settle for dvd's as a placeholder. It gets the job done but isnt the best option
Ah yes I love 4K’s,Blu-ray,etc. I have a GINORMOUS COLLECTION
Streaming platforms keep increasing prices. Meanwhile, between UA-cam and my large blu ray / DVD library (I use a PS3 to play them) I seldom use streaming services anymore. I have no monthly payments but you know what I do have? Tons of Anime. Life is good for me.
Remember when little Britain was deemed offensive and they blocked it from all streaming. And eBay sales of little Britain DVDs went through the roof?
I STILL can’t understand how people pay for something they do not OWN it’s like you’re renting it why not just buy one time and have it forever????? They are basically wasting their money 💴 but hey you do you 💁🏼♀️
I still have streaming services, but my all time favorite films and shows, i own on physical media. I never want to not be able to watch them. Case in point spongebob squarepants, i have the first 100 episodes on dvd, which means the banned "panty raid" episode is available to watch whenever i wan't
Why does no one sub? I ant too see you hit 100k!
5.1 audio plus can watch it at anytime. Dvds are still mighty.
Orange🍊
Dvds definitely. Though I do like that steaming apps. At least the ones that are free and I can afford. And the ones that I'm using do have some good movies and shows, but not all the ones I'm looking for. So the ones I couldn't find on the streaming app I find on DVD or another movie invention called VHS.
I agree with this statement 🐸
thanks 🐸
Crazy how Disney has made folks buy a VHS, DVD and Stream the same movie for the last 30 years
Could you talk about your NES
day two of telling crow to review diper overlode
I love dvds
I love dvds plus with shows like family guy to where every streaming service has them censord you can just get the dvds and have uncensored episodes
I still buy DVDs and CDs all the time I have Netflix on Spotify, but I still like having physical media
Off topic but i like ur squid game shirt looks good 👍
Streaming: 😊🤔🤔
VHS & DVD: 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I used to go to the theater every weekend. For the price of theater admission I could of bought the DVD. Being able to re-watch a movie isn't that important.
Because South Park still makes them
agreed
DVD obviously
Streaming platforms are just another way of Control over the individual. The Streaming Services will decide what is available to the user, the Streaming Services will Censor content THAT THEY DEEM unsuitable, and The Streaming Services will decide when to pull content. Where as if you purchase the content on physical Media, you have the control.
Streaming is great but if internet goes out or cant afford it physical discs are always there . I even have ack up disc player i bought stored in bixes in my.closet in case disc player breaks lol
yes but it quickly gets unaffordable once every company has there own streaming service. i usually just buy the dvd if one or two movies i want to watch are on another service.
I prefer DVDs and VHS the streaming services any day also let's make the video his most viewed video
DVDs are awesome
DVDs / VHS > Streaming
If you have a CRT TV, yes... DVDs definitely worth it
Who here remembers BD-Live?
5 years later: Why you should still use Streaming in 2022
I love DVDs but they can get scratched and not work anymore
Orange
So streaming is great in many ways but what if you want to watch something more specific?
An example:
Marlon Brando was one of the most respected actors in the world. How many of his movies does the regular person know about? A few. What about the rest? Will his lesser known movies ever be brought up on streaming? I am not to sure about that. Maybe some.. Not all. So if I have the interest to see his movies? I buy them. Could I download illegaly? Maybe.. But will the quality be good? Don't I want to support something I am interested in? If people have little interest in old Marlon Brando movies today... How will it be in ten, twenty, thirthy years? Will people care at all about 90 % of his movies in 2070?
ReViEw DiPeR oVeRlOaD
Just take your time
What the frick
awsome you might as well have a collection if not have a collection
🐸🐸🐸
2:07 im a game preservationists and I own a lot of Xbox 360 games.
I still by dvd and I was born in 2000
