Spectators are allowed to come and see all the busses. by the bridge in Lake Havasu AZ. near the Colorado River. Thanks for coming along guys. I met several of you guys out there. Was an absolute pleasure to hear your stories first hand. And here that you were able to use the videos to get your cars trucks and busses back on the road and looking good.
drone footage if your interested ua-cam.com/video/MHzJRWyCBBg/v-deo.html&lc=UgxF6U8-zmM1He7AHaZ4AaABAg
Thanks for taking us along. It was great seeing all the different ones. There is a man from out here in Maine that went. He got a $500 gift certificate in the raffle.
COOL.....WOW. I heard that call out. I didnt get in the raffle because I was taking video during that time.
I know this is a LONG VIDEO. but I encourage you to get a cup of coffee and watch most or all of it. There is some great stuff in there. You can watch it in segments. too. IF you leave youtube and come back to the video later usually it will save your spot. FYI.
You’re so lucky on the fuel. I just did an exchange rate and a gallon of fuel for us in the Uk is about $11!!
A little over a year ago it was in the $2.00 range a gallon here….
Just recently got a 71 bay window and getting all the small things ready on her to hopefully take on a small road trip. Thank you for video, so fun watching.
next year.
The other day it warmed UP to -10°F, so we got the ol' HiBearN8R out for a drive. She's a '58 bus I found out in the woods in AK. Did just fine. What I think is batsht crazy is driving a 60 year old tin can down the freeway at 75mph with no seatbelts- now that's Deathwish 2000!!!
yup for sure. the seat belts I really dont think would help at all. otherwise I would have put them in. My head is hitting that metal on blood thinners It will be the end. either way.
@@Mikefngarage I see whatcha mean. At least we'll die with a smile on our face✌🤪✌
Wow! This is really cool Mike. Thanks for sharing the trip! =)
Hey Mike, glad you got to hang with some of the legendary buses and bus pilots of the Southwest..
yea bud it was really fun. I want to see when the next Treffen Trek is. Looking for the event.
The other London bridge is Tower Bridge.
The mini caravan is an Eriba Puck.
The music is perfect.
Nice that it was able to drive that far! Usually they barley make it 2 hours unless they did a good service on the engine where they will be no problems. Great Video! 👍
Great to Tag along on your Trip!!... Thanks again Mike!!
haha, the VW golfcart was cool! So many nice looking VW´s. Hope you enjoyed it :D
I really enjoyed the video, and that Beach Boys story was classic! 😊
Awsome video. I cant go as live here in the UK. And the bridge in London here is called Tower Bridge. But even us here we call it the London Bridge.
This looks like a hell of a meet up. So, so many beautiful vws. Real variety.
Glad you made it ah ha. Always abit of a gamble in an older Vw.
Anyhow good vibes from the UK 🇬🇧 🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥
Cool deal! How many times did you have to stop to refuel back and forth? $4.29 a gal is not bad; we are frogs in a boiling pot…😉. Anyway the Gene Berg breather system is great; might be an alternative for you. Not cheap but then again, you get what you pay for. I love all their stuff; supreme quality that will last forever.
I fuel up in riverside. then top off in Indio. get gas in Parker. in indio I only needed 4 gallons. in parker I needed like 8. my other bus I only needed like 6 in parker. So about 14 gallons to get there so about 18mpg my other bus got like 22 mpg
@@Mikefngarage Great mileage!
Sweet ride! I’m planning on taking either my bug or my van to Montana from south Louisiana (2000 miles) in a few months. (Yes I’m insane).
insane is good.....Ha ha. lets hope it is a good trip.
You will only be insane if you exceed the speed limits ,15 in first, second between 15 and 27 third between 27and 40 and fourth 40 plus.dont let the engine lug. They are slow but strong vehicles 😈
That bus is so beautiful!
I live in Las Vegas, always wanted to go to lake havasu thanks for the video tour.
15:56 should be a law against shortening a bus !
most of those were done in the 70s when they were worth nothing
What a great trip, cant wait for our shows start back up again here🤙🏽
Thank you for another great vid. I am restoring a 67' Pearl White Kombi identical to the one you recently restored. Your many vids have been informational and inspirational to me on my restoration journey. Im looking to get to the BBB 24'. This video was very helpful in my trip planning and what to expect. Thanks again.
I expect to be there. But I just got a call for a out of town job. I hope it wont conflict with the event.
I have to tell you, I'm really happy I found your channel! Your bus is very very pretty! I drive a 71' "Larry" I live near Boston, MA. I couldn't believe my ears when you said guys FROM MAINE make the trip! I have friends that live in Vegas that go & every yr they say pack it up & come! I'd love to but....anyway thanks for taking us along for the ride!
Hi, Mike a great tour and very nice indeed to see all these fabulous VW T1 T2 T3 Busses. ready and restored for these shows. thanks for sharing👍🏻.Greetings.HCS🇳🇴
This vídeo was great! Not only due yo te event, but Aldo because You áre a great camera man!!! Congratulations!!!
Sorry for the rare spanish words
Yea took some practice and a few years work to get a good video filmed. Plus good equipment.
we intereviewed Dwight (the patina 15 window) in San Antonio. He has a Snail , 21 window , a bay window and a lifted sub hatch bus, he's got a lot of them.
yea that bus is awesome.
Awesome VW show, really amazing. I really like the trip you did, because I have a 65 bus, 36hp emgine and really like to travel with it.
Loving the ‘oh shit box’ 😂 great video, Mike. Reminds me of a west coast road trip I did in the states a decade ago. I must get myself back out there.
Enjoyed the video, thank you....maybe i will try to drive my single cab one time....
Looks like a great time. Thank you for taking us along.
Great video. Just ordered a disc brake kit from Eddie and Daves garage. Can't wait to have actual brakes on my bus!! Keep the videos coming very entertaining.
huge improvement. you will be happy once they are installed. Almost feels like power brakes on that kit. Just be careful with every part and make sure they are all machined correctly. Install them and look at the clearances. We did have a couple bad ones. It was a while back I think Andy fixed the issue. but take your time make sure all the parts line up and the wheel bearing races all the way fully seated in the rotors. Another guy didnt pound them all the way in. Very tight clearances to make them fit on the stock width and stock 14in wheels. But still IMO the best kit on the market.
Awesome. Thanks for the videos learned a lot. Now I just need a super diff and 3.44 ring and pinion and should be good to go. Where is a goof place to buy the 3.44 and is there a video you recommend on swapping the r+p out?
Wish I could have gone this year!
maybe next year we will plan ahead and caravan. You would be coming this way I think anyway. up the 215 to the 60 I think is the best route.
Pretty cool Mike, Looks like where everyone went from LA after the Appocolyps
missed it this time, hopefully next year.
Another excellent Video Mike ..I had to watch it parts ... I think I could see your mind ticking over when viewing that early Van ..Blue with large amounts of 'rust' patina and holes Kind regards Alex
Thanks for letting us go with you Mike, that was an awesome trip !! Looks like a really good time with all the cool busses & glad yours made it ok & your music is just the right touch. Some channels you have to strain to hear what they're saying in the video.
Awesome video mate, appreciate the time you spent videoing all the vans and people. Thanks Jp
No problem 👍
Awesome, long video! I truly enjoy videos like this & seeing everything that's there. Some year I'd love to make the trip from Pennsylvania to BBB in our bus. Unfortuantely right now we have snow on the ground, salt on the roads, and 15 degree temps....so our bus is relaxing in the garage until spring!
good place for it in that weather. keep the salt off of it so it will be around for a few more years. Yea if you can make your way south to 40 like 95 to 40. it is pretty good from there all the way without much for snow or bad roads. Just stop somewheres and wash the underneath off if you get some salted areas if your going to make the trip.
@@Mikefngarage Thank you - hopefully over the next few years, when my kids are out of school, we can work our way out! I work in a body shop and have seen "newer" cars (3-4 years old) that come in with rust issues due to the salt and brine stuff they put on the roads - it's nasty stuff!
Thank you for posting your trip and giving us the tour. Glad you made it without an issue. Enjoyed your shots getting a chance to see what people have done to personalize the vans. Too far to drive our '63 down from Victoria, but really thinking of taking our truck down once the covid scare settles down. Hey the music was fine!
yea for sure a bit far....but the ferry ride is a lot of it. Drive starts at port Angeles. or Belmont. There were guys from Everett WA in split window busses. But driving the regular day car would be just fine. There were subscribers from there that did that too.
Great video and you tell a good story .Keep up the good work.
Great video Mike! 👍 I wish I was there instead of the snowy north...
Actually saw a bus I used to own (fairly sure - glad it's still being driven 🙂)
thanks a lot for this great video--hi from germany..chris
A friend of mine had a single cab many years ago and he would get really close to the back of the 18 wheelers and just get suck-towed by them. Saved on gas too…
Thanks Mike
Thanks for the ride along and the great music. I remember going to Lake Havasu as a kid with my parents on their boat back in the mid 70s. I haven’t been there since but boy it sure looks like it has changed a bit.
For those who are intersted I also posted some drone footage on my random videos channel ua-cam.com/video/MHzJRWyCBBg/v-deo.html&lc=UgxF6U8-zmM1He7AHaZ4AaABAg
Thx for bringing us along!
When I lived in San Antonio there was a small tail light bus with those barn doors on both sides . It had a not for sale sign on it.
there was a guy there from Laredo ha ha 2 a few guys drove from montery mexico
Always enjoy your videos Mike. Music beds are okay so don't worry about the negative comments. The content is the main thing. I am interested in how do you fix the oil leak.??
pretty sure I will be videoing that
Great tour and cool to see all those buses that are still around! Makes me wonder if the percentage of surviving buses is greater than air cooled Beetles that are still on the road.
Definetly more busses then there is pre 66 bugs
Great trip Mike, Loved it!
A friend of mine has a you tube channel and on HIS way to Quartzsite with his big bus, a bunch of VW buses went by on their way to your event.
@ 45:31, Barn door Mafia...I think this is my friends, Jera, I may have misspelled his name. Other friends from ' Box on wheels' made it out there. Cool!
Nice to see you smile! (6:25)
thanks thomas. I will be doing a few more face time clips as we continue the videos. Trying to make the videos feel more like your there hanging out
my axel seal leaks too, just keep it topped off :)
Awesome!
Thanks!
Yo dog that's the actual London bridge from the song hahaha
yea true falling down. I wonder how they got all the pieces that fell in the water across the pond.
love the tunes electro funk jazz
I really hate to admit it...but I kinda liked the music.
WOW COOL
I take my 1963 Bug up and down the west coast (LA-Portland) about twice a year. Not really a problem.
I would like to have that engine !!!!!!!!!
It's basically a 1980's rennaissance fair.
Thanks man
varias combes
maravilha...
Hi Mike I was wondering first of all I love your videos I miss my Westy I’m from Southern California and I’m wondering how you can find out about these different meats you’ve done several videos and I’d like to know how I can find out about them
Some are posted on thesamba.com. some are on a Facebook group but I don't know which one I just get a text from different guys.
muito legal , parabens pelo video 😎✌👍🙌👏👏👏👏👏👏
@17:32 Skim @20:04 Cuddy
Dream 🤩😏🤙
I dont know how you are going 74 mph in that thing without overheating. Thats impressive
very tall gears and tall tires. 3.44 R n P . sucker will do 80+ if you can hold on that tight.
@@Mikefngarage dang, that’s insane for an air cooled engine. My vw can’t get over like 30 mph right now
Try 2000 miles plus Johannesburg to Cape Town Via the Karoo:)
Why shouldn't it get you there and back?
Took three days though😁
that is a drive
i like our channel
This august I’m planning on taking my ‘65 from Washington to Southern California and back. Any tips for making it there?
I had a 68 and 66 bug when I was a kid, would like to get into it again. I'd like to find a 6 volt bug, what do you suggest.
what you can find and afford. The glass headlight bugs will be worth the most IMO
bitchen tunes Mike great videos
No seat belts?? We die like real men!
Who needs FN seat belts.....Ha ha. on all my other cars I wear one though.
Think of it like riding a very slow motorcycle with very large saddlebags:)
Mike what spares do you take on a long trip?? parts and tools
Damn how many busses were there?
I think almost 400 or so I forget. was checking entrance numbers.
Tfti Mike
what final drive do you have on this one???
3.92 to 1 vs big nut 3.85 with 3.44 gears in both. small nut has the .82 4th vs big nut has the .89. on both my bus trans. I do have 1 inch taller tires on this bus though so it will do 80. I dont cruise it there though.
I drove my Fat Chick to Utah and back to California
