Uematsu has done a lot to get video game music the recognition it deserves, no one could argue the awesomeness of this track. Shame that not many people would take it as seriously as if someone like Megadeth, or another speed metal band had played it.
Black Mages always rock, but Gilgamesh's theme is practically the best boss theme ever created. The two combined make an undefeatable amount of awesome.
the first album was arranged and performed by just two of the band members (Sekito and Fukui), BEFORE the band was created, and all the drums and percussion were computer-generated. the band gives it their all to perform live the songs very similar to what we hear on the album. the second album (and so forth) was performed by the band AS a full band, and they make minor changes in performing the songs live.
ohh, BTW, the guitarrist also didn't played the first solo of the song, yes, the one that needs an alien finger to play (in fox video), it's not a bad guitarrist, plays ok and also is not an static plaer in the scenario, he does what he needs to do on a show...
Nobuo Uematsu, the music master of the Final fantasy series... The man on the keyboard. I knew he was a master composer... And that the Black mages played his music. It seems so right that he's in the bad. It's his music... So he's got his own rock band. That's awesome!
I used ff9 as an example since a character called Garland is in it and since I don't know about dissidia I said I assume its like Garland in ff9 (just a character with the same name) and GrifReaper09 I know he's not the Main Antagonist in ff9 (though in retrospect he IS pretty much the cause of everything including the creation of the Main Antagonist) I just used him as an example.
aah, the man of Legend who originated from the FFV...The man who Travels the Dimensions of Final Fantasy through mysterious ways...Seeking the Excaliber.
heh, the only final fantasies that I dont have are 5 and 6 (because they havent been released in Austlralia recently, most recent were their releases on PS1, which I have only ever seen final fantasy 6 once, and I have never seen a copy of the 4 and 5 release)
Thank you. I just thought the comments were way overrated to this video and comparitively I enjoy the epicness of the original on the game more... and your opinion is valid too. Maybe I'm just different from everyone else, lol =P And I do respect Uematsu for trying to show how awesome this piece is... I just think he might've tried too hard to make it be "cool" and to me destroyed the feel of the piece... hard to explain =/
I just said Garland (he's both the First Boss in the game and the Final One) and that Garland in dissidia (I've never played it but I just assume) he's a character with the same name just like in FF9.
Yeah same here, if you look at him in FFVIII he has Excalipoor, Excalibur, Masamune and Zantetsuken and since he had only excalipoor in FFV then you could imagine he got Excalibur in VI, Masamune in VII and then Seifer "gives" him Odin's Zantetsuken in VIII.
Despite all the negative comments, this actually is quite good...if you had heard the original song on the original FF5 game you'd hear it and enjoy it . . .
The sound mixing is horrible, you can't hear cleary the Hammond sound that Nobuo is playing. The lead synth solo sound is dull, the sound was more punchy in the studio. Of course, the overall sound quality is bad, and this is not because of UA-cam compression. The intro is cool, but I found a factory program on Korg Triton/Karma pretty close to the strings on the album (A114 - Money Pad on Karma). It's sad because the studio albums rock so much !
@transformersdudefred Excalipoor guitar , unlike the Excalibur Guitar , it's quality is so horrifyingly epic that one have to fly to the end of the world to escape it's wrath. Then again , it's contradictory , seeing how little damage Excalipoor performs XD

The original is one of my favorite final fantasy songs, and the Black Mages always know how to push it to the next level.
these guys are gods.
This is divine
wooooooow SUPER-MEGA-EXTRA-ULTRA-IPER-SUPER-MEGA-MASTER-ULTRA spettacolo questo video!!!!!!!!

That pianist has an amazing mustache.
Black Mages always rock, but Gilgamesh's theme is practically the best boss theme ever created. The two combined make an undefeatable amount of awesome.
Immortal dude. ^^
@schmittl1 Woah, that version was so damn insane! Thank you so very much for telling me about it!
All who have played and finished FF5 loves this song and gilgamesh, since this song is he's tune. ^^
What would be my answer if somebody asked me "what's your favorite FF hero".
I'd answer: "Nobuo Uematsu" XD
awesome
I really like the keyboard solo. It fits perfectly with the rest of the song, and sets up a different mood in the middle of an uptempo song.
O MY GOD AWSOME
the first album was arranged and performed by just two of the band members (Sekito and Fukui), BEFORE the band was created, and all the drums and percussion were computer-generated. the band gives it their all to perform live the songs very similar to what we hear on the album.
the second album (and so forth) was performed by the band AS a full band, and they make minor changes in performing the songs live.
Every version of this song and The Extreme, no matter who plays it on what, sounds awesome.
thank you so much. xD i've been looking for this video for so long. :D
Karimono is good too remember though that they were doing this Live too at that concert.
why does the lead gutiarist look like a japaneese version of James May from Top gear?
Dude, that just made my day. That was good.
Powerfull!
Me encantaa!
ohh, BTW, the guitarrist also didn't played the first solo of the song, yes, the one that needs an alien finger to play (in fox video), it's not a bad guitarrist, plays ok and also is not an static plaer in the scenario, he does what he needs to do on a show...
nobuo i love you`re music
Ouah!
Nobuo Uematsu powaaa!
Magnifique vidéo :')!
5 étoiles!
Oui mon frére !
I love ! I can play this music soon in my video...
Nobuo Uematsu, the music master of the Final fantasy series...
The man on the keyboard.
I knew he was a master composer... And that the Black mages played his music.
It seems so right that he's in the bad. It's his music... So he's got his own rock band. That's awesome!
The Black Mages é foda demais!!!!
While I don't care for the keyboard solo myself, I actually like the rest of this arrange. I won't thumb down. You have a valid opinion.
this is awesome!!!
dang this is my favorite song in FF series ffs these guys rocks xDDD
Nobuo Uematsu is a god!!!!!
EPIC
The smile when he looked back at 1:30 said "Our master has taught us well, hasn't he?"
Very PROGRESSIVE!!! I likey!
dude if i was in the crowd i would be going crazy NOBUO UEMATSU IS GENIUS!
aah, the man of Legend who originated from the FFV...The man who Travels the Dimensions of Final Fantasy through mysterious ways...Seeking the Excaliber.
I just got to the part in Final Fantasy Advance V where this music is played. It's truely epic stuff.
Maybe they should do reenactments with them playing the background. That'd be interesting, to say the least.
Long Before AKHT Version Came This One.... Awesome!
3:16 ギタリストとシンセシストがベンドのタイミングを首の動きで合わせていて微笑ましい
the song is AWESOME in that game. i wanted to find the sheet music cause of that song in the game.
@squallotaku not metal...just .pure. PERFECTION!
Is it just me or is the lead guitarist the only guy that cracks a smile and looks like he having fun? (Apart from Mr Uematsu of course!)
heh, the only final fantasies that I dont have are 5 and 6 (because they havent been released in Austlralia recently, most recent were their releases on PS1, which I have only ever seen final fantasy 6 once, and I have never seen a copy of the 4 and 5 release)
At 3:14, the accompaniment apparently adjusted one measure later than the guitar.
Thank you. I just thought the comments were way overrated to this video and comparitively I enjoy the epicness of the original on the game more... and your opinion is valid too. Maybe I'm just different from everyone else, lol =P

I just said Garland (he's both the First Boss in the game and the Final One) and that Garland in dissidia (I've never played it but I just assume) he's a character with the same name just like in FF9.
Correction:
the surname IS the first name.
I love 1:52 when Uematsu just stops paying attention to what his figers are doing, and it doesn't matter...
@Ponziopelato81 dinosaur costumes are conductive to mastery of music!
Yeah it would.
...Did you know, by the way, that Uematsu-san is the one who composed the Brawl opening theme?
Well, The black mages were first a death metal band, but he also does FF music, he's my god of music.
Where did you get this on dvd or internet and thanks for posting this up.
Baja prog should bring them to Mexicali
they're so fuckin Progressive!!!
THEY ROCK!
If you have a DS or a GBA, just buy the GBA version you also get more stuff.
Amazing Stuffs
do you even know who the other guitarist i'm refering to are? cause thats pretty ignorant to say black mages pwn before seeing karimono
Despite all the negative comments, this actually is quite good...if you had heard the original song on the original FF5 game you'd hear it and enjoy it . . .
best tune from them in my opinion
@Kiroshima1 does anyone you know have four arms? Like gilgamesh had? Or were we talking war?
Nah that was Garland/Chaos he was an optional Boss in Water soul Of Chaos dungeon in the Gameboy Remake.
Or, perhaps we could stop comparing and appreciate the music for what it is.
Can you download these concerts or get them on DVD??? I love live staduim shows esp when Final Fantasy Music is Involed :D
this has to be referenced in some other SE game, I never played through most of ffV but I definitely know this song
hey, does anybody know which video was the one where each members are introduced by nobuo and he plays smoke on the water?
Black Mages + Uematsu = awesome :D
the4everbond: They where started by Nobuo Uematsu, so yeah FF music.
this is just amazing O.O so do The Black Mages just basicly remake classic FF songs?
an already epic song made to be even more epic, how does uematsu do it
they are so cool they even got mario on keyboard
lol the opening... young, young, medium, young, glasses with mustache. but nobou is a true genius!!!!
Nobuo is freakin fantastic!!
why does the reply button not work for me when i want it to?
OH SHIT DUDE. I am sorry! I responded to wrong comment! I love black mages, and I've got tickets to Nobou in Chicago! Sorry!
well dident Nobuo make most if not all the songs his band remixs?
Nobuo Uematsu is a self taught musician. Just shows that you dont have to be a professional to be the best ;) Go Nobuo!!!
The genius himself
damn uematsu is cool and damn so are the black mages
Anyone else think its about time that he got his own FF Game or at least was a main character in one?
Muscle memory, my friend xD
Kurikinton Fox does the most insane cover of this song. This is still so awesome though.
@44kryth I completely agree.
is that nobuo on keyboard ?? he seems very young...
You're damn right he is :)
I want the tabs to this song
Moi je dis, vive nobuo, son groupe, the black mages et ses fantastiques compositions pour les final fantasy.
Remix? its the live version of the original creators^^
ff1 i think he was the main antoganist......i never got that far but i think he is
u cant hear the guitar at the beginning
This is one of the best tracks in FF besides One Winged Angel.
it`s gilgamesh theme (FFV)
o...then who is the main antoganist in ff1? and y is garland in dissidia? O.o
yes he is your god!! can't wait till final fantasy XIII with new musics by nobuo uematsu-san!!!!
The sound mixing is horrible, you can't hear cleary the Hammond sound that Nobuo is playing. The lead synth solo sound is dull, the sound was more punchy in the studio.

At least he use a Korg CX-3, which is a clone of the Hammond Organ.
He has some Alesis synthesizers or MIDI controllers on top of it.
Imagine Gilgamesh gate crashing the concert in his second form wielding Excalipoor.
