    It's interesting that in 100 years of competitive development of rope rescue/rigging devices there is no device that gets a awesome score in any category :). Great and honest showdown!

    The clutch over ID. For raising the efficiency of the clutch pulley is much better than the ID.

      Definitely, we do like the Clutch, but we just have a hard time justifying its outrageous price, to benefit ratio.

    I just had someone show me that you can thread 550 cord or climbing accessory cord through the hole on the handle of the Maestro, for when you're anchor is setup back off a Cliffside, and you have the rope either running over an edge or through a pulley on a tripod...It let you get all the way out to the cliffs edge so you can keep an eye on the person being hauled and still haul them up or descend without standing right next to the device

    • @PEGASUSRESCUE
      @PEGASUSRESCUE  3 роки тому +1

      Yes you can definitely do that, but be careful, you don't have as much control that way, and with a patient on board, you never want to induce any type of dynamic loading from stops and starts. Its best to have one person on the controls and another on the edge with clear communication or re-rig your controls to the edge, where you can see the load your controlling.

      @@PEGASUSRESCUE Yeah I agree. Seems to be only useful with limited manpower or on a time crunch due to conditions or patient needs..Always good to learn more techniques and limitations though.

    Can you use the maestro as ID to get lower friction....

    Thank you guys, that was an excellent video. Really nicely shot and explained so that everything you were doing was very clear. I am really interested in the 'Shark Finning' technique that I've seen a number of organisations doing. It looks like a great way of reducing your need for rescuers, and allowing for a very smooth lower. However, I haven't heard of anyone testing it with a main line failure (in a TTRS). In the real world, does Shark Finning have any effect on the operators ability to 'catch' a rescue load that suddenly transfers from two device to one? Thanks.

    • @PEGASUSRESCUE
      @PEGASUSRESCUE  4 роки тому +2

      Thanks Jon, We will be doing a video shortly on the TTRS and shark finning, and explain the load transfer if any line were to fail, but that is the basics of why we are moving to TTRS, as the system shares the load 50/50 rather than it imposing a dynamic force onto a belay line in the event of a main line failure.

      Jon Wickham thanks Jon for the input. We can definitely look at those concerns when we film that video very soon. Would be great to see what would happen . But having both lines sharing the load under equal tension, it probably won’t be too dramatic, but worth experimenting with.

    Recently had a rigging class and Sorry had to use a 3 to 1 to get rope to go thru an ID on a belay line which I don t have to do on the clutch mastero or MPD. I d like to know where you got the 550 for a mastero as I paid at least $100 more than that.

    That ratchet sound is very satisfying and confidence building. I have to look into this kit...What harness are both you guys using by the way?

      It's a great tool, so is the Clutch if you use them correctly, we are just going over some of the benefits and deficiencies of all the available devices, we are not sponsored by any of the products, or gain from selling any of them, if you have something constructive you wanted to add, please feel free to do so, the community needs feedback on the tools of the trade, we all learn from it.

    Should've shown how you can control the maestro from a distance with a cord on the handle. Also the extra friction when hauling isn't noticeable. Im currently using both everyday lowering and hauling people from 135lbs to 225lbs, the maestro is just way better, and 250$ cheaper.

      It can be if you have experience on it, but we find a lot of Fire Departments don't get enough training on them, and get really confused when they need it, and how to load it properly.
