- How I repaired my mobility scooter speed control potentiometer with new part for less than $7 including delivery. The internal "stop" in the speed control was broken so the knob could be rotated 360 degrees. With the knob in certain positions, a fault would occur preventing the scooter from operating when you turned the scooter on with the keyswitch. I believe the manufacturer's replacement part number is DWR1020H161 but check you model's parts list to be sure.

Total paid for my 100k linear pot including postage was £2.75
Doddle to do and if you contact the manufacturer for spares for your scooter you pay 20 times that
They wanted to charge me £42 plus postage and packaging

I attempted to replace the occasionally erratic "tortoise and hare" speed control using bare pot recommended by Monster .Got it installed and scooter gave error signals, ran erratically. Checked actual resistance and new pot had quite different ohms reading. Soldered in old pot and scooter ran normally. I have an early version of Pride GoGo Elite Traveler and it has given good service with battery replacements , electronic brake replacement and a replacement charger over many years. 18 AH batteries are considerably heavier than 12 AH ones. I bought an extra battery box for an extra 18 AH battery pack from Monster Scooter Parts. Good source.

can you not just join the wires together to bypass the switch so its just on full speed all the time any info would be greatful

Hi I've got a drive scout when I press to go forward is bleeds and it gos n reverse speed and when I press to go in reverse it gos in forward speed. Thanks

no, the controller is preprogrammed from the manufacturer.
thank you, can i just ask something. if i replaced my speed knob with a different ohms one would i go faster?? like this is 100k one right? what if i put a different one in? i want to try speed up a bit! great video btw thanks.
i doubt a higher resistance pot will cause a higher speed. I would not change the value for fear of destroying the expensive controller. Getting more speed just because you changed an inexpensive component PERHAPS is possible but the stress to other components and probably exceeding their design rating is probable. More speed requires more voltage and max voltage is limited by the batteries and the sophisticated control. The power components in the electronic control are likely to be unhappy.
@@YuDaMan ok thanks i think the only way is to get someone to re-program the controller. mine is a rhino 2 controller which can be re-programmed but the kit to do it is expensive as hell!

That's my scooter. Save color too v10. Paidd 900 from a guy who used it only a few times. Everything is sound on it. I'm very gentle turning that pot
