I appreciate that you're trying to put out some more content. I like this vlog style - both because I understand it's a lot easier to produce, but also with all the in depth videos out about keeping a specific species or building an enclosure, people can become really knowledgeable but still miss out on the daily routine tasks that are essential. Regardless if you decide to move away from this style, what you put out would make a nice series about what regular upkeep is like. Thanks for what you do!
Love the idea of Frog Vlogs! So cool seeing you care for all the animals. :) Also! If you do in fact feel that these vids get too repetitive in the future I have a video idea! You could make an "organizing the frog room" type video where you can clean up/decorate/organize/change up the room! I love watching those type of videos. :)
Hi there. I'm new here. I have watched some of your other videos since I'm just starting out with frogs. I caught some of my local greenhouse frogs and now want some darts. I just ordered some Santa Isabella tadpoles. This video comes at just the right time. Don't apologize so much. I loved this video. It's nice that you're sharing what you do and love with us. I am doing this on a small scale with my one small exoterra tank. I have a lot to learn so your videos are nice. For one, I now know better how to get flies out without them all running away. Beginner mistakes I'm sure with time I won't lose so many when I feed. I look forward to seeing your new shelves, the tadpoles care and I'd love to see more of how you have your current shelves and types of shelves. I've been on youtube a very long time and know about the easy vs fast videos to edit. I think the length of this one is great. I don't watch videos longer than 15 mins because I'm at my PC and desk. I try to keep my own videos to that length too. And I don't keep a schedule. I post when I feel like. UA-cam should be for fun not for stress.
The next vlog will cover the basics of tadpole care, but I should probably make a more in depth video about it too, thanks for the suggestion! Although I think TCS Dart Frogs has some good tadpole care videos as well!
This is a great idea, I’m just looking into the idea of keeping dart frogs so a beginners guide or day to day in the hobby would be great, keep up the great work.
A lot of my frogs originally came from Understory Enterprises, Jungle Jewel Exotics, or Mostly Just Geckos. But I've also got some from other hobbyists I found through local classified ads.
Nice video! Hey Josh I heard about grain mites, should you separate your fruitfly culture from your dart frogs enclosure in case a infestation occurs? And how do you avoid grain mites?
I keep my cultures on a bed of diatomaceous earth, it kills mites when they try to walk through it. Also when storing the cultures I make sure they don't touch each other, just in case mites get into one culture they can't crawl directly to another culture but will have to walk through the DE.
The brand I've been using is White Lake diatomaceous earth. It's actually branded as an anti-caking agent for animal feed, but I've been using it for years now and haven't had a single mite issue since I started using it
I don't feed them in the morphing cups. During the final stages of metamophosis their mouthparts and digestive systems are also undergoing major changes so they can't eat anyway, but rather survive off the nutrients from resorbing their tail.

Good points, thank you!
Keep going, absolutely love these videos
Hey man, love this vlog style, its nice to see how you manage the day to day stuff with a big collection.
Great video my dude! Keep em coming.

It would be cool to see some time-lapse videos of cultures, tadpole growth ,feedings ect. Also some Northern Frogger merch would be sweet.
Thanks for the suggestions, I will try to incorporate those! Merch could be fun too lol :)
This was great! Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for this vid, I like this vid format 😋👍
More to come!

Thank you very much for the encouragement and advice! :)
@@NorthernFrogger No prob. Glad to help.
Dude so crazy. I'm editing my "Day to Day dart frog hobbyist" video right now that I filmed this past weekend!! You beat me to the punch lol.
I think a full video on tadpoles/froglets would be a good one not to many in detail videos out there that I have seen anyways
The next vlog will cover the basics of tadpole care, but I should probably make a more in depth video about it too, thanks for the suggestion! Although I think TCS Dart Frogs has some good tadpole care videos as well!

You should do a reaction to setups posted on dendroboard - good ones and bad ones haha
Thanks for the suggestion!
Loving your videos! Would like to see where you get your new frogs? Are they from other local breeders or at big box pet stores? Thanks

@@NorthernFrogger ok thanks you use the insect killer powder one? Or neither

@@NorthernFrogger thank you Josh😀
Any recommendations for an easy to keep frog species for a 36x18x36 paludarium, preferably on the quiet side?
What are you using for fruit fly media? superfly or something else?
I do use Superfly quite a bit, but mostly I use a homemade mix
Can you ship frogs to the US?
No I can't, sorry. It's a huge pain due to CITES restrictions. I would recommend TCS Dart Frogs or Josh's Frogs if you are in the US
How do you feed the froglets once they are in the larger cups?
I don't feed them in the morphing cups. During the final stages of metamophosis their mouthparts and digestive systems are also undergoing major changes so they can't eat anyway, but rather survive off the nutrients from resorbing their tail.
is it bad if the fruit flies have started to live in your enclosure?
Not necessarily, as long as they aren't so abundant that they are stressing the frogs out
When you getting back online
where are you located?
Calgary, Canada
Do you sell the frogs you breed?
Yes, I can ship them within Canada
