Yup it is but in many areas we don't have lighting in cycling lanes so at night it creates a lot of problem I also live in Chandigarh but I prefer to ride on road at the time of night due to lack of lighting on cycle tracks

This randomly popped up in my feed. Co-incidentally I'm also a riding enthusiast.
I'm from Phoenix, Arizona in the USA. Our city has similar problems like yours when it comes to Bikers & Pedestrians. The locals here decided to take this matter into their hands & started using High beam front lights on the rear end of their bikes in order to deter heavier vehicles from taking their riding space. Eventually motorists begged the city corporation to intervene & stop us from using our eye blinding taillights. This way a compromise was agreed to ensure the safety of bikers through various lanes & the 3 feet space law. Such a confrontational solution is the best way to tackle this problem in a country like India.
All the best & cheers to the biker community in India for risking their ass for the love of this sport.

Jay less than 1% of population cycles. Why would they built cycling tracks. I am saying this on my observation in Mumbai, I assume it is similar situation in Delhi. I am not talking hobby cycling in morning and on weekend but commute to work. Hobby cycling is not going to help with pollution. We need more people to start cycling then you can demand for cycling tracks.

Here in chandigarh, we do have very well maintained cycle tracks and traffic rules. Because of this initiative, I've seen a small cycling enthusiasm now than before there were no cycling tracks, but the increase is little. We not only need a Infrastructure, but a combo of infrastructure and motivation.
I commute to my work which is about 8 Km by bicycle. I feel happy that I've reduced my carbon footprint.

Sai me. Chandigarh me cycling lane properly maintained hai. Yaha par motor vehicle cycling track par park karne se police case bhi ho sakta hai. I've got several SMS from the police that do not ply your motor vehicle on the cycling lane . Because of this initiative of the Chandigarh administration, I've seen a cycling enthusiasm.
