My first and last time seeing Nirvana. I went to see if they were actually brilliant or if it was just hype. At one point during the show the entire audience, from the front of the barricades to the nose bleeds simultaneously hovered for about three seconds - I kid you not. The power and magic in the room that night was unlike anything I have ever seen.
While I didn’t become a huge fan of Nirvana, I did develop a massive appreciation for the mastery of Kurt’s songs and the musicianship of all three band members. I had never seen a true punk band command an audience like only a pop sensation.
There was a feeling of mass hypnosis or crowd hysteria that was authentic. I had experienced club shows with this level of energy - the Ramones, Social Distortion, Rancid, but never a stadium rock show that scaled appropriately and authentically.
This may have been just another show to the band, but to me the night was a seismic shift in what could be achieved by a trio of punk losers. Just brilliant.
When does Kurt get his sainthood?
Technically, I believe many have already christened him a rock-god.
I’m truly jealous of some of these artists you’ve had the opportunity to see. I work in the industry and have met many cool musicians, but will obviously never have the opportunity to meet or work with many of my top favorites..
From what I understand, this show wasn’t just “another gig” for Nirvana. It was counted amongst their top 5 favorite shows they ever played. The event itself was for a cause they were passionate about and didn’t just want to earn money, but put on a performance that would be worthy of honoring the victims of those brutal attacks. It was one of the longest concerts they ever played in their careers and, as far as their set list, was unofficially the transition show from Bleach-Nevermind era sets into a nevermind-in utero set list as it marked the final live performance for some early “pre-fame” songs and the introduction of new songs to the set that many were hearing for the very first time that would appear on In Utero. You can tell that the band is playing with passion and there isn’t the impression that comes across in many of the final European shows that Kurt is just phoning it in or going thru the motions but is really putting everything into every song. Keeping up such a pace for this long of a show deserves some recognition as it’s not at all common to see many bands successfully do so. If it was professionally recorded, I honestly feel it deserves a major commercial release. I know I’d buy it in a heartbeat (both vinyl and dvd copies).
I'm sure that will happen some day.
I feel your sentiments exactly. My friends were huge fans and drug this metalhead to the show. Was at the barrier for this experience. Was very inspiring!
He’s always had it 🙏👑💕
You witnessed the live debut of "Milk it". My friend... You lucky S. O. B.
Great show! I was there at 19 years old, 44 now, still rocks!!!
Billy Ricciardulli how loud was it
I was there too at 31 years old. Now 57. Yep, still rocks!!!

One of the loudest shows I have been to.
Greatest band ever in my opinion
Your opinion is great
true
They’re the best live band no question but as for the goat that goes to the Beatles
Just lucky to have been from Seattle and a teen during this time .. I miss it desperately
yes
WOW! They played Dive. This is a live rarity in 1993.
They played Dive in brazil 1993 to.
They only did once on the In Utero tour. 10-31-93 in Akron
@@kdcmjk and they played before the tour in ohio
Imagine what it would've been like for someone who had been a fan of Nirvana since like lets say 1989 who hadn't heard this be played in a while to hear this while at this concert
I don't think the date is correct
Negative Creep, Love Buzz & Been A Son was played for the last time at this show :(
:(
Were played *
@@archivosrockchile LOL you're a dick like me haha
And aneurysm I believe
And smells like teen spirit
Raised over $60,000.00 that evening! Great benefit show from Nirvana, The Breeders, Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy and L7
they raised in one nite basically 2.5x-3x the average person makes a year for a benefit and didn't take a dime. how many bands do actual good in this world anymore? And are pioneers? none.
30 Years after...its crazy..90s the best era
man i've been collecting bootleg cds, concerts and trade taping slightly for so many years and seeing these concerts come to the surface really warms up my soul.
Kurts Voice is very powerful during this show, he's still into at this point.
Ive never been able to explain how crazy the gig i saw at Coogee Bay Hotel Sydney,
That was the most electric atmosphere i've ever experienced! seeing them in 1992 just as Nirvanamania exploded.
the fact this was one of the only shows they did in the first half of 93 shows... great performance
the milk it vocals sound more throaty and moody than studio or other live performances, love it
Totally agree! 🥛🤘🏻
I'm surprised and impressed that Kurt didn't in fact died from his stunts in Dave's drum set.
I'm also pretty surprised that Dave survived that
God bless you whoever recorded this
One of the very few versions of Frances Farmer with Dave on background vocals!
it sounds so much better!
Ummm he's on the record doing harmonies.
@@TheNatetellier he's saying Dave rarely did the background harmonies live whenever they played this song live
Still does not make sense....dave did most if not all of the backups sibce he joined the band. Live or recorded.
@@TheNatetellier buddy, what I told you does in fact makes sense. Dave hardly does backup vocals on songs like Aneurysm and Frances Farmer, don’t complicate it too much. Go back and listen to a few nirvana shows and you’ll hear that Dave hardly did backups live during the Nevermind tour with the exception of a few shows in the UK. Pat Smear took over backups for Frances Farmer around 1993-1994 ish.
Thankyou AltCopperpot 5 for giving us footage that when may never have seen before. You are really giving to Nirvana fans. It is greatly appreciated!
On his way through, Kurt sprinkled some of his magic and unique music upon us, and then he left.
Just a chest full of treasures and wonder, but tucked into such a short duration, that we most likely will never see the likes of again. He said more in his 4 short years than most will say in an entire lifetime..
This was the last time Kurt played Love Buzz live
And Negative Creep.
Love Buzz is one of my fav songs...wish they would play it on the radio
Wow...never seen video of this show and the audio I have is incomplete and sub-par at best; I'm floored. Anytime I can upgrade a show in my library to better sources, there's a a certain "high" for lack of a better word. So few Nirvana updates nowadays, this is really special. Thanks so much for sharing.
What's up record slinger !
I know I only had the audio of this show. Weird I had this picture of the show in my head based on the sound. I pictured it outdoors and during the day for whatever reason. Crazy to see the actual show.
it's always nice to see frances farmer live
this is the first performance of it live
Maybe that’s why he got the lyrics mixed up in the beginning.
Great song. In Utero is my favourite Nirvana Album.
Love seeing Kurt play In Utero tunes on the Jaguar. Wish he had used it all the time through the tour. I am sure he recorded parts of the records with it.
Really surprised there's no Drain You on here.
And polly...
yeah Drain You was his favorite song
Lol me too!
@@davidrc3429 Polly probably wouldn’t have been a great song choice considering the song is from the view point of a rapist and it’s a rape benefit show.
@@pwilkins916 wow after 1 year. yeah, i agree
i miss this atmosphere and this music...i m still waiting for a band like this to come again and just blast into the world without giving any fucks
golden words!
I got you 😤
just wait
I was there, great show. The most memorable part of the night was Kurt jumping on the drum kit at the end of the show.
Yeah but Dave get hurt?
@@kazmungovan117 no if I remember correctly he moved out of the way before Kurt jumped.
@@louisreynolds7925 that’s so cool
Yeah he didnt get out of the way, you can see him landing on him in this

Wow. Kurt sounds very 90/91-ish here. Surprising, considering this is 1993. Especially Lithium. Sounds just like the album but just a half step up.
Right, whole concert sounds very 90/91-ish, even with the new songs. Great show thanks for upload
@@TheJean590 It's kinda funny how some things work, huh? He still sounds like he did from 90-92, but In Utero had already been recorded at that time lol.
@@TheJean590 Actually, in this one, I think Territorial Pissings is played in a makeshift D Standard (meaning they didn't actually tune to D Standard, but it's played lower on the guitar.) to help Kurt's voice. It seems like the bass doesn't match up with the guitar. Also, this is a bit unrelated, but I know that they stuck to playing in Eb sometime around 6 February or so in 1992. Good thing they didn't stay in E for long.
@@Ariel64a Yeah, but his voice is raspier, like in 93/94
I wonder why his voice was like this only on this concert in 1993
Sweet 3 piece version of Milk it. Such an underrated song. It always made me think of metroid when I was a kid lol
Man, I wish I was at this concert too! I live very close to the Cow Palace and grew up there. I was too young at the time and only in 2nd Grade when this happened, but still loved Nirvana back then. My older cousins from HK/Japan loved Nirvana, that's how I got into em! Thank you very much for uploading this too!
What’s up Bay Area neighbor I was from Sunnyvale. I remember this show. I missed it but I was prob at a rave in sf. Lol.
@@teamgaxiola Oh yeah! I'm close to that neighborhood. I grew up in the Excelsior. Lol.
Love this. I grew up in the South Bay. I was in elementary school when this show happened but remember wanting to go so bad. IIRC Alice in Chains was either playing the same night or the same week. Either way, stumbling upon this video has at least given me some sort of closure.
Love checking out these revamped shows! Thank you!
I was In grade 5 during this massive event.Thank's you so much for this rare video of Nirvana...
buen video! gracias por compartirlo!! saludos
Kurt loved the Jaguar, played with this guitar in all concerts and never broke it
Finally after so much years to see the Master is f... stunning. THX to the Taper and Uploader for this GEM
this is awesome - thanks for sharing xx
wow. thank you for uncovering all of these Nirvana sets that I never knew existed. Especially video recording. Can't tell you how much this means to someone who first heard them off a best friend's uncle's cassette tape and just thinking it was the coolest sh&&. It breathes new life into this band and hopefully someone born more later (and a lot younger than me) discovers this down the road and gets inspired.
Thank you uploading this…
Thanks for this👍

Muito obrigado por postar.
thank you so much for sharing and working on these tapes. respect!
Been looking for a “full volume” version of Something in the Way for ages. Remember seeing a clip of it on Live! Tonight! Sold Out but seemed to struggle to find a full length version. Amazing.
Japan 92.. think it's one of the live shows released with the 30th Anniversary of Nevermind... Search that and something in the way... ;)

Muy buen recital, calidad de imagen y sonido 🤙
This is the best sounding live recording of Kurts voice!!! F'Yeah F'Kn Awesum!!!
Very nice! Video quality seems like it's from the master tape?? I think a lot of other copies of this show have the wrong GEN and are actually much higher than what they say. Thank you for your hard work on this.

My all time favorite Nirvana concert! Little bit from every era in one show! 🙌🏽😍 on my first birthday as well!

This is why I love UA-cam.
Ironically the best day of his life is not your birthday
This was the first concert I went to. Thanks Big Bro for taking me!
What a Brother!!
This quality is amazing
Great performance, amazing show too this was the first time they played a few different songs from in utero. One of the last times they played as a 3 piece too. I managed to get a guitar pick of kurts from this show.
I wish they played milk it, love buzz, negative creep, something in the way, and aneurysm in the 1994 European tour i love kurts guitar tone and voice in that tour would have been awesome hearing it played more
It was a great show and great bill, L7, Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy and The Breeders. I wish I woulda got a shirt (picked one up for roomie who couldn't make it to the show). Thanks for uploading!

Nah, Axl was a fan!
How did you get this looking so much better from the source, is there a better one I'm not aware of? Great Job
Somewhere in my garage is a VHS recording of this concert that was trading in the late 90s. May have been the same original source from this video, but this is SOOOO much better.
I was there. Freshman at Cal. Loving every minute of it! 🎸🎶🔥😎🤘🏽
Kurt gives an awesome solo around 1:21:00 at the end of love buzz! He does it with a bottle in his mouth too😂
I remember when he kicked the bottle, the water sprayed Courtney, and everyone watching on the side of the stage. 😄
That bottle landed on stage right in front of me. Still wish I’d asked the security guard to grab it-I think he could’ve reached it.
Awesome! Great!
A very special concert in terms of everything happening on stage: This is technically an In Utero era gig (the album was already done but not yet released), but they don't have Pat Smear yet, and Kurt still uses his Nevermind era equipment, no Polychorus or Sansamp sound yet, no Mustangs or Jagstangs. Also, Krist finger picking in the middle of Scentless Apprentice, lol
One of my favorites
Nirvana is my favorite band
Good job Curt ❤️
great quality
And only a year later he would be gone. Best band ever in my opinion 😎🤘🏻 Rest In Peace, Kurt 🕊️✝️
Such a great artists.
Sounds veryyyyy goood!
Wonderful
I went to this concert when I was 17 and it was awesome!
that come as you are is AMAZING
Had this bootleg when I was a kid. Loved it. Favorite part was when they came out with "Milk it" announced it was a new song. Kurt plays the beginning of it. And you hear a fan say "It's terrible" just funny. It's a great song but I can see hearing that for the 1st time and being like what the fuck. 😂
Aside from the brilliant song writing and the force Dave’s drumming provides there’s a sense that this is a dangerous band. Anything could happen; they’re out on a ledge.
Who else saw the “1:29:44” thing in the description and just couldn’t help skipping most of the show to see Kurt jump into the drums😂
I wonder how traumatized Dave must have been at the end of most shows 😂😂
@@sarataj6128 hahaha well i think he enjoyed himself
