? Jason "killed it." Lol, the day he left Metallica hasn't been ANYWHERE the same. Most importantly? Metallica hasn't made anything that matters last 25yrs
@@jasonpeters9865 No problem man.. we are all entitled to our opinion. And yes Robert killed it, you know it !! The real newsted fans should go and support him instead of just hating on Robert. He plays free gigs doing Americana covers cause no one really pays to see newsted. Facts !
Jason left because they treated him like shet they admitted it years of standing in the shadow of cliff Burton they took someone in to early Jason was hard done by they admitted it they should apologize to him formerly
Robert trujillo is a effin beast on the bass!!!! I've been playing bass for 5 months and can play some of his solos, and definatley his version of For whom the bell tolls. Dang i wish i was that good!!!!
I met Trujillo in France after a Suicidal gig. He had lost his wallet in the street and was looking for it. My brother had his bass with him and Robert played some stuff on my bro's bass. It was cool.
They gel so good together. It's like it was meant to be. I still miss Cliff though, been since I was a teenager, just a little younger than the band members, but he was an absolute Beast on a Bass guitar. As much Hell as the band put Jason through, he was also a Beast on the Bass. Miss Jason too, but he's still with us. Long live the remaining Metallica Bassists. RIP Cliff Burton. Peace from Toronto ✌️✌️
Why is this so funny? 3:22 Lars drum solo, i keep rewinding it like 20 times. It sounds good but its just really funny to me for some reason. Also James squeel 4:02
I love the moment when Rob is happy like a lil' kid when he choose 'Hit the light' - he repeated it a few times with smile on his face ;d and the "west side G" thing is funny also ;d
1983 the first song on "kill 'em all" .................the first time that music made me go nuts !!! i went like: what the hell is this!! these guys are playing 200mph..(if you were used to only:black sabbath, maiden, priest, etc, etc)it was so new and refreshing!!.....don't get me wrong here,i love every song on "kill'em all"but this "first song" in particular MADE ME GO NUTS !!!!
Well you know what they say... You're as old as you feel you are, and Metallica sure are young! The energy they have at their concerts is unique, how PERFECTLY they perform their songs! Not to mention their constantly increasing musicianship! Kings of Metal, the end. :D
Robert fits the band so completely well.......:-) He seems to be a very friendly, nice man:*)))))) The way he plays guitar is very funny....when he is almost in a squatting position!!!Love that!
Looking back on this now, the coolest thing is that this didn’t end up being some short-lived decision from a washed-up metal band trying to become relevant again. Rob breathed new life into the band, and 21 years later he’s played on 3 studio albums, thousands of shows, and been Metallica’s bass player for longer than Cliff and Jason combined. He’s a real part of the band and not a hired hand like James said when they hired him. Such a cool story.
sometimes i wish rob joined metallica right after suicdal tendencies :/ sure jason newstead was sick on bass but nowhere close to as sick as rob and nowhere close to his skill level. rob played orion live with ease. something that hadnt been done since cliff burton was with them. huge props to rob and metallica for grabbing him before somebody else did.
Am not even the biggest Metallica fan in the world. They're ok now but Jason was more Metallica than Rob for sure. A much more suited fit was Jason in the band. Rob is nothing special..
The guitar James is using is the original model of the ESP Iron Cross. What he's using here is a Gibson Les Paul, just modified the way he liked. Esp made a copy and that's the Iron Cross you see now on Esp's site.
He deserves it. Awesome. There are a lot of references to Cliff Burton so I just hope they sort themselves out now and get back to some semblance of the band they used to be when he was their bass player.
was there and it was amazing OMG i remember robert playing his bass helicopter technique and it sounded amazing but what blew my mind was his crabwalk bass skill that sounded out of this world. Not even cliff could do that on bass. Sorry cliff fans but it is what it is
love rob! he was awesome no matter where he was... ST, IG, ozzy... hes just a badass bass player! the old ST vids with him in there are frickin funny lol
I remember seeing an old MTV bit where the band introduced themselves in a similar way - like a bunch of drunk headbangers hanging out. I think with the arrival of a new member to the band, they are parodying themselves from 15-20 years ago :D
i think hes rather underrated because he knew a lot about classical music (which is kinda the source of all good organised music) an implemented such stuff into metallicas music... also james or lars i forgot who said that he was by far the most gifted musician of the band
@fletche1994 Metallica @ Big 4 in Sweden last month were amazing. Lars played it properly, the fills, James vocals, Kirk and Rob awesome as always. The Setlist was very cool opening with "Hit The Lights" straight into "Master Of Puppets" then "The Shortest Straw" to "Seek and Destroy" - "Sanitarium" and "Ride The Lightning" followed. Easily the best opening combinations I've seen from Metallica recently, they played them properly not butchered, crowd energy levels sky-rocketed with that combo.
No, but when Rob got the job, it was on there. @ 8:54, you here Lars says "Can you insert a piece of that, like right here, now?' and @ 8:58 James "Hi were back, now you know what we we're talking about" They were joking about putting the clip of Rob joining in this interview.
HOHOHO imagine a for Whom The Bell Tolls intro with the picking attack of Jason, Robert's fast galloping and slapping plus the fingering fuck of Cliff... Shit! best bass trio ever
2:10 - 2:19 FUNNIEST MOMENT EVER!!!! Rob, "I'm from the west side G" Robert jokingly pretending to sound like a gangster, then Robert, Lars, and James all have a laugh, but Kirk thinks he's being serious and literally says, "That's right, Venice!" Then theres like a second awkwardness then James comes to the rescue and saves Kirk from his nerdiness and says, "Laying it dowm sold!"
The day that never comes is ok when it comes to the 'Accoustic to Electric' songs. And if you don't know what that means, it's the 4th song from RTL, Master, and Justice. Fade to Black, Sanitarium, and One. They're all amazing but the day that never comes is probably the worst.
its called a "pinch harmonic" when you pick the string you tap the side of your thumb on the string right after you've picked. browse up some videos to see how its done
Robert is a true Bass legend. Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves, played with Ozzy. Tremendous Bass player.
He was wearing a vest back then ) and played in BLS with Zakk Wylde))
@@gokcengolge2366 thats sick!
And that right there is why Rob got the job and is still playing with them over 20 years later. A true bass playing legend 🤘🙂🤘
Yes 🙌!! Exactly man.. Rob just killed it since the day he auditioned.
Metallica hasn't made ANYTHING of significance since he joined 22yrs ago.
You know it
? Jason "killed it."

53 years young Chica❤Love All you Boys….🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸❤Forever ❤
Their big group hug at the beginning is like the epitome of a band's relationship, it's like they've played for years, yet they really haven't.
This clip made me remember why i love Metallica more then 99.99% of all the other bands.
×2
Jason left because they treated him like shet they admitted it years of standing in the shadow of cliff Burton they took someone in to early Jason was hard done by they admitted it they should apologize to him formerly
Wish they showed this love to Jason. Jason is legitimately a loveable guy
Robert trujillo is a effin beast on the bass!!!! I've been playing bass for 5 months and can play some of his solos, and definatley his version of For whom the bell tolls. Dang i wish i was that good!!!!
I just love how excited Rob is when he says "HIT THE LIGHTS, COME ON!"
I love how Trujillo just picks Lars up and carries him into the building saying, "OK, we gotta' go rehearse" lol Nice.
He spends a lot of time carrying the whole band lol
Así es cómo se llega a ser grande con una buena preparación y esperando el momento indicado muchas felicidades Trujillo.
I met Trujillo in France after a Suicidal gig. He had lost his wallet in the street and was looking for it. My brother had his bass with him and Robert played some stuff on my bro's bass. It was cool.
That squeal at the beginning of "Hit The Lights" brought a tear to my eye.
lars: aggression, kirk: emo, james: bro, rob: chill
Exactly!!!!
They gel so good together. It's like it was meant to be. Agression???
I seriously thought that Rob was fucking around with all those names.
He wasn’t?
@@scpfoundationtm1249 Nope
You can see how pumped he is during his audition ... Awesome
You put headphones in
You an actually hear how tight rob is on the bass, its amazing....
It's Metallica. They always cut the low end out (except when they want to get paid haha).
7:17, the moment where everyone in the band clicks and the transition of song goes smoothly, also a nod of approval.
Robert: "Yeah I'm from the Westside G"
Kirk: "Yeah! Venice" *awkward silence*
Why is this so funny? 3:22 Lars drum solo, i keep rewinding it like 20 times. It sounds good but its just really funny to me for some reason. Also James squeel 4:02
"He´s a shaolin bass master" hahaha
LOL Robert makes this face sometimes when he's playing, it looks like he's biting into a lemon.
2:12 I like how Kirk makes a joke and I just falls on a dead note 😂😂😂 kinda like his playing
1:31 / 1:32 The guy says "So how do you guys feel?"
Kirk shouts: "TRUE!" Lol
Veracruz, Mexico is proud of you Roberto Trujillo, keep up the good work with Metallica dude.
I'm so glad they picked Rob. he's awesome!
Robert- I am the truth
James- I am the table
OMG!
Incorrect.
James - I'm Creeping Death!!!
Jason: DIE DIE DIE DIE
I like how Kirk's middle finger is pointing out near enough the whole time in the hit the lights part
I love the moment when Rob is happy like a lil' kid when he choose 'Hit the light' - he repeated it a few times with smile on his face ;d and the "west side G" thing is funny also ;d
this performance is just epic
they all rock the the house down
Camera-guy: "How do you guys feel?"
Kirk: "TRUE!!!!"

LoL at Hetfield. "Trooooojeelo!"
I loved this whole video. Especially beginning.

I thought James sings “Hit the like”! 👍👍👍
Rob is the best bassist metallica have had and even the band admit that...
+Rob Goldsmith after cliff, i agree rob is the best
Jason literally made Metallica popular. He wrote blackened, and he was in Metallica for the album that made them really huge, the black album
wow that performance of hit the lights sounded real good.
"I'm from the west side g"
"that's right. venice"
HAHAHAHA
@evanbeahan love the "what?" just after the "venice" and james face like "hmm that is wrong" and kirk's face is like "venice... wait. wut?"

He also does a danish count-in, in the St. Anger video.

10 days left...THEN IM SEEING THEM LIVE!!! WOHOOOOOOOO METALLICA!!!!!!!!!!
Was there a full video of Rob's audition?
Metallica doing a YT channel documenting their adventures would be gold.
I love Lars' hair growth from robs intro into hit the lights
he was one of the guys who inspired me to be a bassist
Schecter is such an underrated company!!
I have a stiletto classic and it's fantastic
i think hes rather underrated because he knew a lot about classical music (which is kinda the source of all good organised music) an implemented such stuff into metallicas music... also james or lars i forgot who said that he was by far the most gifted musician of the band
he did and it was the most badass thing ive ever seen!!!!

Robert "50-11 middle names" Trujillo..
