Honest truth? Metallica for 1983-94 was great. Post 95-prsnt? Complete garbage. If I wanna hear AIC? Ill go listen to them. I wanna hear KoRn? Ill go listen to them. I missed "Metallica" since late 80s/early90s. Still do. They have been S H I T? Last 30yrs.

Metallica imo were desperate here. They were CLEARLY bitter towards Jason. Cuz they made actual meaningful music with Jason. 22yrs later with Robert T? Metallica hasn't made ANYTHING of significance. Not even 1 good song. They sound like a chalk riff band last 22yrs. One of the MANY MANY "KoRn wannabee" bands from 1998-2005.

Metallic a were clearly hurt/torn after they realised they sucked after Jason left. Jason left cuz Metallica was trying be AIC then KoRn. Yes, Black Album is ok. Too produced for me. Not the RAW 1980's Metallica I love. Jason was on Metallica's best&last good album. 1989 "AJFA."

Looking back on this now, the coolest thing is that this didn’t end up being some short-lived decision from a washed-up metal band trying to become relevant again. Rob breathed new life into the band, and 21 years later he’s played on 3 studio albums, thousands of shows, and been Metallica’s bass player for longer than Cliff and Jason combined. He’s a real part of the band and not a hired hand like James said when they hired him. Such a cool story.
