First I saw this anime I wasnt really able to appreciate the depth of emocions they try to show in Subaru. Just imagine getting to know someone developing friendships and then being killed over and over painfully and remembering the pain and terror you felt. Yet you wake up unharmed not being able to tell anyone about it. And still he chooses to act, I would be in deep deep depression. I just feel like the scene where Lia lets him rest on her knees meant everything to him. And still I get somewhat watery eyes, when I see it.
I am planning to read the light novel however what I saw so far about it is that the LN is much more graphic about Subarus deaths and how much pain he feels which gives a much better picture on why Subaru is so afraid to die even though he knows he will just return by death. The anime is amazing but one thing I don't like is that they didn't emphasize enough how much Subaru is actually teriffied of dying
@@csorgobenjamin6690Its kind of hard to let people know cuz usually Subaru dies pretty quick and letting his thoughts be known is a bit difficult in such tense scenes. Theres not really much they could do even if it was a perfect adaptation.
That being said, novels are great. Especially this arc, we see how deeply Subaru was really affected by everything in a more visceral way. I guess it was too messed up for them to show tho which sucks
It's really this episode that starts showing you just how amazing of a Voice Actor Yusuke Kobayashi is, his moments doing both the over the top goofball Subaru and the crippled and broken in pain Subaru are some of the best acting I hear from it as he makes you feel those emotions to the core.
Sad that most people forget about thse kinds of moments with emila and subaru in later episodes

Man....this episode got me so emotional the first time I watched it lmao😭
What we know so far (at Roswaal's Mansion):
1st loop: Subaru died of a curse after visiting the village
2nd loop: Subaru was in the process of dying of the same curse (wandering the mansion severely sick), but was killed by Rem first.
3rd loop: Subaru never visited the village and wasn't cursed; he was murdered by Ram and Rem (easy to miss, but as Subaru was running away his leg was taken out by a random spell - that was the work of Ram). And to be fair to Ram and Rem on this one - Subaru was surveilling the mansion after he was supposed to have left for the capital - highly suspicious.
4th loop: Rem died of a curse after visiting the village; Subaru committed suicide to restart the loop in order to save everyone
5th loop: where we're at now.
One of the best episodes of the show!

It's not spelled out in the anime and I don't think it's in the LN either.
the common speculation is that she chose that name to scare off Subaru because she was too nice to tell him to get lost.
It you watch the scene again you can see Puck become very startled. This is a show that rewards rewatching.,

Watch the first episode where subaru is in the mansion. When he meets up Beatrice, after he arranges for the date with Emila, Betty ejects him from the library. Then she says, "I suppose Betty doesn't have any part in that," When you see it the first time it makes no sense. People see the line and ignore it. She had detected the curse and did nothing because she didn't care about Subaru. This is a show that rewards rewatching.!
regarding the satella and emilia thing the two main headcanons are that she was trying to scare him off like you said and then the second one was that she thought he was a little suspicious and she was confused since he completely disregarded her resemblance of the witch and then to fully be sure he wasn’t lying and actually didn’t know anything she said her name was satella since no single person in the entire world could ignore the name of the witch without even showing a look on their face. it could also very well be both though.
It's confirmed to scare him off. There is a side story chapter about the first loop from Emilia's perspective

Seeing that currently on Patreon you already reacted to the episode where Subaru talks to his parents again and mentions us his past... you realize a lot of sad things about Subaru from THIS episode.
- 8:34 Subaru still believed that to be likable he had to imitate his father, always pushing himself to the max so that everyone would think he was cool, trustworthy and above all someone they needed at the mansion since that was his thinking when he tried to socialize in the real world.
- 10:35 Subaru breaks down in tears saying that he had never tried so hard to accomplish anything in his life, and it is because Subaru had given up on socializing in his old world by completely isolating himself from society and this he considered as a bill for his laziness, for never having tried to do anything right in his world and now he must try his best in this new one.
*Undoubtedly, our poor Subaru was giving us indications that he had identity problems in wanting to feel like his father and self-esteem problems in trying to make an effort to be liked by others at the expense of his health* ❤

There was a lot cut regarding magic but in genereal in season 1 a lot like 80% of stuff regarding world building and politics was cut sadly.
There is an anime that I highly recommend, the same as Re:zero the time loop genre, the anime name is Summertime Render (time loop, mystery, supranatural)
Underated anime, but TMI you just spoil her.
It's ok. Everyone need to hear it from time to time.

She cries all the time yo. She just hasn't really got attached to these strong enough yet. I remember her borderline ugly crying over Jujutsu Kaisen.
I don't think I cried watching all of season 1 of Re:Zero. Season 2 has a scene that has made my eyes water up like 10 different times watching it though. What emotionally affects you is also dependent on what you relate to. If you empathize/see yourself in Subaru this show will affect much more. She may get there. Give it time.
I hope one day you will react to mushoku tensei and made in abyss in the future
