And thinking to myself, wow, I can't wait until it's my turn. And now I get to be one of the commenters I looked up to because I'm getting my first pair on Monday! Still feels so surreal 🥰
I know how important it is to have the best pointe shoes possible. When I had my first pair the lady just slapped the shoes on and said '' Ah, that'll do!'' After the first hour the broke and I twisted my ancle! That girl is so glad to be having you guys fit her for her first pair, I wish I could of had someone as good as you 😃
When I was like 11 or 12 (I'm almost 30 now) the lady who was our teacher I don't think she knew what she was doing because she just gave us random pairs of shoes that fit-ish. Mine were Capezio and I was having so much pain and she literally told me to put more stuffing inside......at that point (pun intended) I was floating inside my shoes.
Nice!! My 1st pointe shoes were soft grishkos, but they were a little too tapered. I have really hyper extended knees and remember how difficult it was too get onto the box 😅
I’m starting ballet now at 12 and I hope to be en pointe before Junior or Senior year of highschool! For right now my main goal is to actually like ballet since I have a tendency to obsess over things until I actually try them lmao
The first ones were Russian rubens. You can tell because she said they were a hard shoe. The second were blochs. I wear blochs because they aren’t too hard but not as soft as grishkos. That last pair were grishkos. At my studio your first shoes are grishkos because they are extremely soft.
I think I would struggle if I ever had pointe shoes (saying that I'm 18 and only just started ballet), only because I have hyperextended knees that still lock out sometimes and I have really weird large spaces in between my 1st, 2nd and 3rd toe on my left foot. I also have Greek feet!!!!

Ive watched so many point shoe fitting videos and just videos about going en pointe so I expected the lady to ask questions and actually look at my feet but she didn’t. All she did was measure how long my foot is. She gave me 5 shoes and i kept saying i needed a wider shoe and that it doesn’t feel right and how i don’t feel like im going over completely. She said that that was the widest shoe they have. So now im wearing shoes that don’t feel right. Over time ive gotten used to them and honestly think that what i felt on the day was just first-time-on-pointe pain haha but i really think if i went to a different place to get fitted then I would’ve gotten a better shoe for me :( i wear block European balance and im going for another fitting for my second shoe soon. I had toenail fungus and it made pointe extremely painful. All my weight tends to go to my big toe anyways, as it's the longest, but the fungus made pointe excruciatingly painful, my big toes hurt so much. @Anneke Lewis great too know! I called a dance store the girl recommended switching studios because I’m missing a whole year of training maybe more I agree although my mom won’t let me switch because we have a credit I don’t want too make bad habits although if I miss 2-4 years not doing ballet because my studio doesn’t have enough people by then I could be on pointe/demi pointe I’ve been told I have good turnout and legs by my fitter for my Jazz shoes and ballet flats when I thought I was doing ballet my dream is pointe the dance store I called said they would fit me and if they don’t think I’m ready then won’t let me get them does that sound ok? And and congratulations on Demi pointe! (Lol I am too haha) Edit: just relized ur not a new person commenting so some info I tell u might be the same sry!
It all a process. It could take years. Your body needs to be strong and flexible. You need to be old enough but not too old as well. One of my teacher was a ballerina from l'Opera de Paris. She had a class specifically for pointes. She made us do relevés for an hour. And she was the only one whom would decide if a girl was ready. There is a scene in Titanic, where Rose goes on pointes, without pointes. You're gonna need the shoes. But you get an idea of what is like.
Does anyone know if new, still in the packaging pointe shoes, Gaynor in particular weaken over time? The dance wear store I used to work in has closed and we still have a lot of Gaynor pointe shoes that are probably in the 5-10 yrs old range, still in the plastic and in the bags that we want to try to sell if they are still usable, even if it's just for class
I’ve been dancing for about 9 years but my studio doesn’t offer pointe but pointe is my dream what should I do I can’t switch studios because I’ve been there so long and every other studio charges like 70$ per class
Are there other students at your studio interested in pointe? If so perhaps the group of you could ask the studio if they would consider adding the class. If they know they will have students for it they might be willing.
Lil update, at recital there was a pointe class and I found out if you take a certain teachers ballet class you can get on en pointe. Sooo guess what I’m doing next month!!

question: based on the video i seem to have very similar legs feet and knees so i was wondering if there was anything i could do to prepare myself from point since everyone says its super hard when your like this?
I wish I could go to the pionte shop because I'm gonna become a ballerina and want ballet shoes
Hi! I don’t have pointe shoes yet, but how would one learn to sew their ribbons, or break in the shoe?
Have you ever done a video on crossdressing in ballet for little boys?(her age)
Josephine: She has a tapered foot, ski toenail, short toes, high profile etc
My first fitter: She is size 5
do fungal toenails make pointe work hard?
Charlotte it depends on what toe, and how long the toenail is
I had toenail fungus and it made pointe extremely painful. All my weight tends to go to my big toe anyways, as it's the longest, but the fungus made pointe excruciatingly painful, my big toes hurt so much.
But the good news is, there's a medication you can take for it. I took an anti-fungal medication for a few months, and it eventually cleared up.
I’m literally getting my first ever pair of pointe shoes on Saturday and Im really nervous 🙈
How did it go?!! I’m really interested in ballet and I really want to start 😕😕
@@vibinqkim it went great! I got a pair of blochs, I would 100% recommend starting ballet. I recently quit but I am joining back this summer I have missed it so much. U won’t regret it
Anyone have answer for me? I’ve never done ballet I do acro, jazz, tap, and hip hop hate hip hop I wanted to do ballet not hip hop but not enough people wanted too do it and I’m upset but because I can’t I practice at home when I was fitted for my ballet flat before I was told there was no ballet I was told my the fitter I have a great turnout and pointe and I can walk on my toes do u think I could get pointe shoes away? And do you need a letter or approval from a teacher first?
@Anneke Lewis hi! Thanks! I have a good pointe already but I’m putting all my focus into my feet and when I’ve been fitted for ballet flat I was told I have a great turnout I got these old pointe shoes for Halloween just too wear on flat and I tried a few times going up and I was able too although they don’t fit me right I contacted a dance store and they do fitting and said they can fit me without a letter and will tell me if im not ready does that sound ok?
(Lol I am too haha)
Edit: just relized ur not a new person commenting so some info I tell u might be the same sry!
Where is ur shop I would like to vistit
How do ballerinas learn to go on pointe before they’ve gotten their first pair of pointe shoes?
It's usually a subject that's quite popular in lessons and also it's just like going up on relates u sort of roll yours toes up
It all a process.
I’m getting pointe shoes
It is true I’m getting point shoes
I still dont know Why they didnt Call the shop “On pointe” 🤔
Does anyone know if new, still in the packaging pointe shoes, Gaynor in particular weaken over time? The dance wear store I used to work in has closed and we still have a lot of Gaynor pointe shoes that are probably in the 5-10 yrs old range, still in the plastic and in the bags that we want to try to sell if they are still usable, even if it's just for class
Is it good to order them online cuz i dont have them in towns near me
my first pair were russian pointe and not gunna lie it wasn’t the bet choice my by me or the lady fitting me but hey now i have like real strong feet
Do you just fit shoes in US or you go to other countries too?
I’ve been dancing for about 9 years but my studio doesn’t offer pointe but pointe is my dream what should I do I can’t switch studios because I’ve been there so long and every other studio charges like 70$ per class
Are there other students at your studio interested in pointe? If so perhaps the group of you could ask the studio if they would consider adding the class. If they know they will have students for it they might be willing.
GlenwoodDance No not that I’m aware of
Lil update, at recital there was a pointe class and I found out if you take a certain teachers ballet class you can get on en pointe. Sooo guess what I’m doing next month!!
What if you want to Measure your feet at home and you don't have any tools and you don't have a rulers
