I love that the Freed shoe makers are mainly beer drinking dudes, creating these beautiful, delicate-looking shoes. I once temped at Victoria Secret and was shocked that most of the lingerie designers were elderly women wearing cool glasses. Craftspeople are truly a different breed.
I am a dancer and Freeds are one of the hardest point shoes that I ever tried, which makes it really hard to dance on. Some Freeds have a really ugly colour kind of yellow orangery so yeah they aren’t that beautifully
Story plot idea: Ballerina falls in love with her favorite maker. They get married he makes shoes for her and he is like so famous for his shoes. Anyway, he retires due to maybe an injury or he becomes a stay at home dad who knows. But he keeps making shoes for her and people are losing their minds over it. Like did she stock up??? Are the shoes so exclusive that I'm not good enough to know how to buy them???

I’m so flabbergasted a couple of guys just make ballet shoes? Lol I thought they were mass produced- I’m not a dancer btw lol
I know right it’s so cool. Especially how are the shows look the same but at the same time are just so different
A lot of brands are mass produced but Freed’s are hand made. You can find videos on UA-cam of the makers making the shoes and it’s really cool
Go to the Freed of London website and watch their videos of the Makers (and other craftsmen and women!) who work 6-8 hours a day virtually non-stop to hand make each Freed Pointe shoe! They are so humble and proud of their work, it is absolutely beautiful. The Makers know each individual pro ballerina's foot, repertoire, injuries, needs and aesthetic preference. Seriously, watch them you will be so glad you did!!!

i love luna's build. her legs are simply gorgeous--but, then again, so is all of her!!!
She is way more willing to wear different shoes than most ballet dancers that I’ve seen.
I'm somebody who does NOT do ballet, never have, yet I could see the difference between the Wine Glass ones and the Star ones! It's not the look of the pointe shoe, but when she stands up, how the arch of her foot curves!
I can't decide between the Wine Glass and the Wing Block!!!
Have you ever fitted someone with different length legs? I think this would be interesting to learn about.

my feet are two different sizes and getting fitted for pointe shoes as a kid was a nightmare

Freeds website has a page with some mini bios and pictures of each maker. B has a full bio and picture. Star only lists his years of experience, which is the same as B, and he has no picture. It could very well be the same guy!

I just got fit by Freed when I was in London and I love mine! I’m in classic fish maker now. I also learned that if you can buy them when you’re in England they’re soooo much cheaper than buying them over here so I stocked up.

I love that even though some of the ppl here don't dance, they're interested in pointe shoes. I'm a dancer, but not trained in ballet. However, pointe shoes are so pretty and fascinating!

Wow! Pointe sizing? I now 54 years old, but would love to get back into dancing.
When I was younger and a US size 7.5 - 8, I was being fitted into size 3.5 pointe shoes. (Yes it hurt!!!!)
I am so glad to see the improvements in pointe shoe fitting. In the 1980's there was this trend to squeeze someone into a much smaller size. No wonder ballet dancers had such problems with their feet!!!

Ohmygoddddd yes. It looks like the box is a water cooler paper cup and then the rest of her foot is ripping out of the shoe. I don’t understand how she can even dance like that...

Your channel is so much fun! I never thought I'd get so into this type of channel considering I am a man who has zero knowledge of ballet, but for whatever reason, I am really liking these videos. I think it may be because I love anything that involves an elite level of athleticism.

My best friend was a dancer throughout our childhood and into our early adult years. I had other activities of my own keeping me busy, but when I wasn't doing those, I was in the studio with her watching rehearsals. Every recital, online videos, SYTYCD...she made me obsessed with dance! I really do LOVE it...but sadly, although I've got great feet, I have zero rhythm or grace, lol. This video was so interesting to me...the shield shoe clearly stood out as the best to me, even as a non-dancer. I love learning about all the nuances of the fitting process and the way each dancer customizes them to their anatomy specifically. 💜🖤
i just got fit into a freed neptune maker. i’ve been in millions of different pointe shoes, i change them basically every time, but never have i felt so supported yet flattered at the same time. pretty amazing shoes 😍

I love Luna so much she is so inspiring watching her videos about her struggling with her relationship with food really helped me and it is nice to see a dance that isn’t so stick thin I can say that I have really struggled with this as a dancer not looking like a “woman”

I have been dancing on point for like 6-7 years (ages ago, I don’t dance anymore) for once a week on the same pair 😂 these video’s always make me want to go back again. I got my shoes out now to see if I have a special mark for a maker, but sadly can’t find anything 🙈

I’m a rock climbing and the loose shoe thing is true in in my sport as well. I started with shoes the same size as my street shoes and now my climbing shoes are a full size and a half smaller than my street shoes because I get so much more control lol

I wear Freeds, and I LOVE them!! They are comfortable and really easy to break in! I do jet glue my box before I wear them. I wear wineglass, so pretty and feel great!! Also I can make mine last 2 weeks with jet glue!!💗💗

It makes me feel better that Luna's feet were swollen from heat. I bought new dress shoes and work shoes in the winter. I CAN'T wear them in triple digit weather. My feet were just shredded.
I just switched from Suffolks to Freeds and the rounded bottom is so different from what I'm used to.

I just got my first pair of pointe shoes a couple of months ago and I’ve been really struggling to get all the way over my box. Any tips or advice for how to increase my ankle flexibility?
Jina Thompson it’s probably a lot more about foot strength than flexibility. I would suggest foot ankle and calf exercises along with stretching your feet
Get a thera band-there are exercises you can do with them that will help!
do a lot of releves on each foot maybe like 8-16 everyday and it'll help ur ankle strength and calf strength. U also just need to make sure u've broken ur shoes in well; sometimes getting over the box is difficult if they're too new or is you use them rarely.
