I loved that Puma GTO, 330bhp and 590nm on a reduced weight of 1460kg + slick tyres, it held it's own alright! The other cars had double its power but from every lap you could see the GTO's traction pulling out of every corner! The RAZO gtr could late brake to catch up to the gto but the GTO's 6G72 early torque curve meant it got out of corners faster and made use of its mid range power where the 590nm is really useful

The engine is controlled by RALLIART / P.I. RESEARCH integrated computer system. Transmission is OEM. Gear ratio is also OEM. Clutch is RALLIART Metal N1 single. suspension is made by KYB. its fully adjustable. Ride height is lowered about 3" and front camber has negative six degrees. Most of the extermal and internal chassis parts are made of ultra light material, which were made by RALLIART / MITSUBISHI Metal Industries. The slit in the rear wing is a fuel inlet to the 50 gallon tank. The Racing quick charge fills up 50 gallons in less than 7 seconds."
Love this video so much. I find myself coming to rewatch it year after year. I have always said and will continue to say, the 3000gt/GTO is so underrated it’s almost criminal. On paper it should be a mediocre car (compared to others). Based solely on numbers. However, every single racing video I have seen of a properly set up gto, always prove to be spectacular. Wish Mitsubishi and Ralliart cared more about this car
Sold too many. The 3S is a high volume car so it's value is low. Even the VR4 sold nearly 3x what the Supra TT sold. I still have no clue what magic Mitsubishi put in these 4G and 6G engines. The Galant was a 5x WRC champion with it's 4G63T and the Pajero was a 12x Dakar champion for 20yrs and 150x stage wins. I'm assuming they added weight to the other cars, b/c no way it's supposed to compete with a 170ps and 120ps difference. The NSX I know is lighter and has +60ps.
I know the 3000GTO is fully stripped out but 59s at Tsukuba with 330hp and 90s tires is INSANELY QUICK.. This same exact car with modern slicks with 500hp will touch 54s-55s range for sure. Incredible..
NSX having competed in LeMans was probably gonna be the fastest anyway. The wobble in both GTR's on power would have pi$$ed me off hahaha (it is probably very tiring for a longer race) Nakaya-san proved once again that he is an exceptional driver ^^
They don’t . As a personal owner of one , abs I restore and repair many and Mitsubishi’s at my shop , they were hindered by the excessive weight . While they did have slot of tricks to make them the best , the weight was an issue . The platform being The FWD section carrying all the weight of what it was needed a really strong frame , but then to aid in not having the rear too light , weight was packed , fuel tank all the way the rear etc . It’s the only coupe I have and I love it .

Have some mods on it currently (Headers,short runner intake plenum,90mm, single exit exhaust,14lbs flywheel,vr-4 brakes and evo10 gsr wheels). With a Full engine build on the way. IT hauls pretty dam well for what it is. In it's current configuration. Some parts of me think the SL was the better platform. Just because it weighed significantly less.
to be fair, that GT2 NSX does have a sequential but having being built in the mid-90's and having mechanical throttle bodies meant that that a quick throttle lift was needed for upshifts and clutch for downshifts. The sequentials of today can usually be pneumatically or electronically shifted (via I-pattern lever like the old schools or by flappy paddles like the new schools) and since most cars these days use drive by wire throttles it's fairly straightforward for a tuner to program the throttles to auto-close on upshifts and auto-blip for down shifts.
90s japan was savage. GTO GTR RX7 300ZX Supra all capeable of 0-60 5 or sub and 160+ mph, what else on the road could match them at that time? The GTO was designed and geared to break 200mph though it couldnt ship with the power to do so
Of course look at the Supra compare to the GTO. The Supra is using the MR2 engine and the engine is pushed back from the struct tower which makes the car “well balanced” than the GTO. The GTO is still using its original engine 6G72 TT. The Sard Supra is a Grand touring series and the GTO is in the N1 series. These two are different styles of racing in Japan.

The Supra and GT-R 450ps and that one Skyline with 500ps. The Supra engine bay is full race car spec. The interior is completely gutted. The GTO interior still has half the dash and both stock door cards. It looks like it has the stock windows too. The NSX running plexiglass. Must've been a fun day back then.

First time I've ever seen a Supra with a 3S-GTE swap Edit: Was wondering if it was pulled from an MR2 or a Celica GT4. Not that it would really make that much of a difference, but if anyone else actually knows I'd appreciate it.
All the JGTC Supra's / Super GT GT500 class (think of the TOM'S Castrol Supra, SARD, etc) had 3SGTEs because 2JZ were boat anchors and they could build 3SGTEs close/same power for racing. Doesn't matter which 3SGTE because they built them up
in japan they always used a 3s-gte instead of 2jz. 2jz is too heavy it ruins the track performance. Now they should have put a 4g63 in the GTO to make it equivalent. GTO could have been deleveloped way more to make it faster. these days there are 4g63 engine swap kits for gto and torque sensing center differentials bouble a-arm conversion way more downforce to enhance track performance.
Why in the world was the Sard Supra using the 3SGTE engine instead of the 2JZ-GTE??? I know the 3SGTE is a good engine but it would need a lot added to it to even keep up with the 2JZ-GTE.
@AZ_3kgt no the GT500 skylines actually used the RB 6 cyls. The reason Toyota didn't use 2JZ was because it made the car front heavy, same issues with skyline JGTC cars. 3SGTE is lighter so it improved weight distribution. Also the smaller engine made the power they wanted.

スロットルワイヤーだと思います。FRでペダルを吊り下げ式からオルガン式に変える際スロットルワイヤーを加工しないとスロットルが開かなくなってしまうからだったと思います
